We asked: Is Bonfire Night fun in Sheffield?
Transcript
00:00Do you think bonfire night is fun in Sheffield?
00:03No, because I had a dog and at bonfire night I had to turn my TV up full blast
00:12because she didn't get frightened, she used to get angry
00:16and I was worried that somebody would come to the door
00:19and she'd attack them thinking it was them that were making the noise
00:22and when we were out and about I had to keep her on a lean
00:25because whenever she saw a flash in a bank, she'd set off to bite somebody
00:30because she was protecting me for her playtime.
00:35Do you think bonfire night is fun in Sheffield?
00:38Yes.
00:39What do you like about it?
00:40I like it because it's a basic tradition isn't it?
00:43It's the old time tradition and it should not be bothered about
00:47too many people complaining all the time, in my opinion anyway.
00:52Would you tell me if you think bonfire night is fun in Sheffield?
00:55It depends on the region, sometimes the year.
00:59My favourite establishment used to be bonfire night on Manorfield Park.
01:04It used to be a big event, loads of big humorous people
01:08always more than happy to help each other out, families, children.
01:11We'd go round there, we'd watch fire, then there'd be a big firework show,
01:14you'd go to a food stall, get a hot dog, burger, whichever it may be.
01:19I think now with the economy more or less nowadays,
01:23I think it's getting to be more of a financial holiday,
01:27demanding more people, more families pay more money
01:30and it's not really bonfire night no more.
01:34I don't know, it's like it's lost that particular sensation to it
01:38than what it used to be before many years ago.
