00:00We can feel the strength of the typhoon Mars.
00:05Aside from the help given to our affected countrymen,
00:11hope has also been strengthened.
00:13Here are the data for the real-time weather update.
00:19This is April Ratio of Radyo Pilipinas, Tuguegarao, in Centro, Balita.
00:26A team of storm chasers went to Gonzaga, Cagayan,
00:31to get real-time and up-to-date information on the typhoon Mars.
00:37According to Tuguegarao Weather Specialist Noel Edilio,
00:40in coordination with the local government unit,
00:43the team is also preparing for the typhoon to hit the province this afternoon,
00:48particularly in the Baguayan Islands, or the northern part of Cagayan.
00:52The specialized team will bring various weather instruments
00:55for the data collection to be sent to their operations center,
00:59which will be used to build their meteorologists
01:03for a better forecast of the typhoon.
01:05Using the installed and specialized sensors of the team,
01:09the actual wind speeds and atmospheric pressure will be monitored here.
01:13The group of the on-the-ground service will also investigate
01:16the potential impacts of the typhoon Mars,
01:19including the storm surge, severe winds, and floods.
01:23According to Edilio, the data collected here will be of great help
01:26as it will be the basis of the LGU's preparations for the upcoming typhoon,
01:30especially as the impact-based forecasting of the typhoon is starting to be implemented.
01:36As for the response operations,
01:38the Department of Social Welfare and Development, or DSWD Region 2,
01:43remains alert for the possible impacts of the typhoon,
01:46especially as several towns are already conducting pre-emptive evacuations
01:50to their constituents.
01:51The agency is preparing to supply more than P139 million pesos
01:56to their warehouses,
01:58including those located in various LGUs in five provinces
02:02that are counted as food and non-food items,
02:05as well as preparing P30 million pesos worth of quick response funds.
