—No. 20 SMU powered past No. 18 Pitt with a commanding 48-25 victory, delivering one of the program’s largest wins over a ranked opponent since 1985. In front of a sellout crowd of 34,648—SMU’s second straight sellout at Ford Stadium—the Mustangs took control early, leading 31-3 at halftime and extending their conference win streak to a record 14 games.

First-Half Domination
SMU’s fast-paced offense and aggressive defense buried Pitt, racking up 299 total yards by halftime while holding the Panthers to just 143. The Mustangs were efficient on third downs, going 5-for-7, while Pitt struggled at 1-for-7. SMU’s defense limited Pitt’s rushing to 103 yards, maintaining their status as the top rushing defense in the ACC and fifth in the nation.

Standout Performances
Running back Brashard Smith electrified with a career-high 161 rushing yards, including a 71-yard touchdown—SMU’s longest run this season. Receiver Matthew Hibner also shone, catching an 80-yard TD pass from QB Kevin Jennings. Jennings, with 306 passing yards, delivered his third straight game with a touchdown of 80+ yards, as SMU racked up 467 yards of total offense.

Next Up
With a bye week coming up, SMU will look to continue its momentum when they face Boston College on Saturday, November 16. Currently 8-1, the Mustangs remain strong contenders in the ACC under head coach Rhett Lashlee, boasting an impressive 26-10 record since he took the reins.
