00:00The National Food Authority confirmed that there is a sufficient supply of rice despite the recent typhoon.
00:05At the same time, the agency also assured that the rice is enough for our countrymen who are affected by the typhoon.
00:12Ephraim Gaitos of PBS Radio Pilipinas News for Panbansa News.
00:19There is a sufficient supply of rice.
00:21This was confirmed by the National Food Authority or NFA
00:24after the typhoon Christine left its mark on various parts of the country.
00:28The agriculture sector is one of the areas affected by the typhoon
00:33which is now the reason for the concern of some of our countrymen
00:36that it may be the reason for the price of goods such as rice or its lack of supply.
00:42According to NFA Administrator Dr. Larry Lackson,
00:46the public should not be concerned because the rice supply of the country remains stable.
00:52Lackson also pointed out that the rice stocks of the NFA are in good condition
00:57despite the strong typhoon Christine.
01:00There was a typhoon.
01:01One day, there was a typhoon.
01:03There was a flood in one of the warehouses.
01:08So, it flooded.
01:09But the good thing about this is that our rice and paddy fields are in good condition.
01:14So, even though it flooded, only a few were damaged.
01:17Other than that, we did not monitor the damage to our stocks.
01:23The NFA continues to increase its purchase of rice
01:27so that the rice supply of the country remains stable at a good level.
01:32Despite the strong typhoon, we did not stop buying rice
01:37because we know that if we are going to plant rice,
01:39so that they can run later, even if they did an early harvest,
01:43they need to sell it right away.
01:45That's why we did not stop buying rice.
01:47Even though the classrooms and offices were suspended,
01:52the NFA continued to buy rice.
01:54We were able to open all of them.
01:56Lackson added that for now, the NFA's priority is to ensure
02:01that the rice supply reaches the areas affected by the typhoon Christine,
02:06particularly in the Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley, and Ilocos Region.
02:11Our commitment is to plant rice
02:13and at the same time, to release rice to areas affected by the typhoon.
02:19Especially in Bicol, we were able to release a lot of rice there.
02:21And in Isabela, we were able to release a lot of rice there.
02:25So our stock is sufficient.
02:28We continue to buy rice for the areas affected by the typhoon.
02:33The NFA is ready.
02:34From PBS Radio Pilipinas News, Efraim Gaitos for Panbansa News.
