00:00Well folks, there it is, Suzuki's 2024 V-Strom 800 Touring Bike. This is an all-new
00:06adventure sport touring bike from Suzuki Motor USA, Arahama, Atsu, Japan. This
00:12motorcycle is all new for the 2024 model year. It's part of Suzuki's multi-bike
00:17800cc platform. Now, this V-Strom 800 Touring Bike has a couple of really nice
00:24additions for all of us road-going adventure sport touring riders. Number
00:29one, we have these handy plastic hand guards, which do a good job of keeping
00:34your hands warm in cooler weather. And we have this adjustable, manually adjustable
00:41windscreen, which you can raise or lower in three positions. And then the big news
00:47is we have this lockable top case, which swallows nearly nine gallons of cargo.
00:54You can also remove the top case and bring it with you easily. It's super
01:00slick, has a nice latch mechanism, and the best part is it's lockable, so no one can
01:05steal your goodies. Now, this motorcycle is powered by a 776cc water-cooled
01:13parallel twin engine, 8-valve cylinder head. This engine is good for 76
01:19horsepower at the business end of that 17-inch rear wheel. It drinks from a 5.3
01:26gallon fuel tank and delivers 36 miles per gallon. It rolls on a pair of 19-inch
01:35front and 17-inch rear cast aluminum wheels shod with Dunlop's Japanese spec
01:41D614 rubber. After this was recorded, Suzuki put out a recall on the tires, but
01:48by the time you watch, the recall may have already been resolved. Up front, we
01:52have a 41-millimeter Showa fork, inverted fork, that has preload adjustment via
01:58this adjuster right here. The damping is fixed. Out back, we have a Showa rear
02:05shock with preload, a hydraulic preload adjustment knob, which is really handy
02:10for raising or lowering the ride height of the vehicle based on rider preference,
02:15or if you have a passenger, or if you have a lot of luggage. It's worth noting
02:19that that top case has a max capacity of right around 10 pounds, so please keep
02:25that in mind. Now, this engine puts power back to the 17-inch rear wheel via a wet
02:33cable-actuated clutch and a six-speed transmission with a really slick
02:38electronic quick shifter that allows for full throttle upshifts and throttle
02:44open downshifts without using the clutch. We really like that. Now, with a full tank
02:51of fuel, this motorcycle weighs in at 500 pounds. It's certainly no featherweight,
02:55but in motion, you'd be amazed at how nimble this vehicle is. The dynamic of the
03:02suspension, with nearly six inches of travel front and back, this thing goes over
03:07bumps wonderfully. It delivers a really, really superb ride. Look at that seat.
03:12This seat has a very big dish, and it's very comfortable. There's a lot of room for a
03:16passenger, too. We also have tie-down points, so you can strap some luggage here, too, if
03:21this nearly nine-gallon capacity top case isn't good enough for you. Now, this
03:27motorcycle also has LED headlamps, stacked LED headlamp here, LED turn signals, and
03:35LED turn signals and LED taillight out back. Now, this motorcycle also has a really handy
03:43USB-style charging port right here, so you can charge your goodies on the road, and this
03:49handlebar is nice and wide, has a really nice mounting position, so you could mount a GPS
03:55or do that kind of stuff. It's also worth noting that this vehicle has Suzuki's Bluetooth-enabled
04:03smartphone app, so you can pair your smartphone with the display, with the five-inch color display
04:08with your Android or iOS-powered smartphone, and you can actually get turn-by-turn directions
04:13on that screen. That's really neat, neat, and that app is free to download. This motorcycle has
04:19triple-disc hydraulic brakes with ABS. We have a nice Nissan radial-mount four-piston caliper up
04:26front and a single-piston Nissan caliper out back. There is switchable ABS, two modes,
04:35one and two, and the ABS is fixed, you can't turn it off. This motorcycle is equipped with
04:40ride-by-wire throttle bodies, so we have traction control, adjustable traction control, and adjustable
04:46SDMS, combined engine power and throttle response settings, so you can tweak that. But Suzuki,
04:53can we please have cruise control? Cruise control and heated grips would be a really
04:58nice addition to this vehicle. But then again, for $10,500, this motorcycle represents true value
05:06in the class. It has a lot of power, it's very comfortable, it's a full-size motorcycle,
05:12it's very touring-friendly, and for $10,500 for a motorcycle that's built in Japan with a one-year
05:19warranty, that's certainly good value. Well everyone, that's everything you need to know
05:24about Suzuki's 2024 V-Strom 800 touring bike. We'll see you in the next episode.
