00:00It just seems like Canlay always shows up for these team competitions and just increasingly
00:08so maybe not his entire career but just these last few years really is kind of has been
00:12nails in these competitions.
00:13It really kind of steps up to the plate and doesn't always seem like that transfers to
00:18individual play and winning tournaments and obviously not winning a major yet but this
00:23could be the boost he needs to kind of go into 2025 and do the same things Xander did
00:27this last year of going out and winning a major so he hits it he hits it pretty far
00:32I think there's still some room like if he wanted to go have an offseason which he wanted
00:37to put on some some weight do you think he'll pursue it after watching his best friend on
00:41tour do it he hits it plenty far enough but if the one thing was he was watching than
00:46Xander prior to Xander doing this they were probably about the same maybe Xander's a little
00:51bit further but Patrick's just overall ball flight it's a little it's a little lower
00:57he doesn't hit it quite as high but he's got a ton of control but he still hits it plenty
01:03far he's probably a mid to high 170s ball speed guy which is plenty far right I'm just
01:10saying if he if we're gonna start talking about Patrick Canley is like superstar elite
01:16type of abilities he's oh he's you know near the top or elite and just about everyone but
01:23is it you know just a little bit more can you reach a little bit further to try to you know
01:29take that next step to be able to you know be a you know a guy that's competing in majors year in
01:36a year out now how about that next group because you know Sam burns these past few years the win
01:42loss record at Quail Hollow did not look good but we've noted numerous times was a stroke play
01:47event he would have either wanted or been right there in contention then that you know gives him
01:52a sort of set of question marks surrounding his captain's pick going into Rome you know no one
01:58plays particularly well there other than maybe Max Homa but he didn't play bad there and then
02:02he shows up here plays four sessions takes three and a half points out of those sessions so that
02:07group of burns at three and a half Russell Henley at three as a rookie phenomenal I mean paired with
02:13Scotty but you know was a huge contributor to that to that pairing and then Scotty at three
02:17what are your takeaways from that sort of group so let's start with Sam Burns I just I was so
02:25impressed with Sam this week he he was hitting it so well I know he said he didn't iron it quite as
02:31good today I didn't get to watch Sam play the wedge shot at 18 was unbelievable no oh it's
02:40chip I saw the chip I said I heard him say he didn't like the iron shot and pulled it left
02:47but yeah apparently apparently he got very lucky with the with the lie according to what I heard
02:53yeah anyway so Sam is a guy that you just I think you said it perfectly in that he was a
03:06player that that was unlucky with how well he played and didn't get quite all all the points
03:12out of it and I even think of back to on Sunday at the Ryder Cup this past year he was paired up
03:18against Rory McIlwain I was covering that match I think Rory was like eight or nine under and Sam
03:25was like seven under lost on 17 she's like what are you gonna do right you know Rory's Ryder Cup
03:30Sunday mode and it's just hard to to to beat Rory on Sundays at head Ryder Cup specially he's got it
03:38going which he did that day but I think he's the type of building blocks for you know what this
03:44future team's gonna look like he's six five and one in these Ryder Cup in President's Cup so he's
03:49you know got a winning record that is above 500 on a losing Ryder Cup team and and on a President's
03:57Cup team two years ago where he was unlucky so when you look at it from that standpoint you're
04:02like oh you know what he's could be a breakout superstar as we continue on
