00:00:00Tonight on Clash of the Champions, only a cage of this magnitude could contain
00:00:06a titanic struggle between the evil team of world champion Big Van Vader,
00:00:11Barry Windham, the Barbarian, and Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff.
00:00:17And the team of sting, all-American Ron Simmons,
00:00:20the natural Dustin Rhodes, and heavy metal Van Hammer.
00:00:24It's mayhem in Milwaukee in Thundercage.
00:00:29And the most coveted team titles in wrestling are on the line,
00:00:32when unified world tag team champions, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat and
00:00:35Shane Douglas are challenged by Flyin' Brian Pillman and Stunning Steve Austin.
00:00:41Live from the Mecca in Milwaukee,
00:00:43World Championship Wrestling presents Clash of the Champions.
00:00:49World Championship Wrestling is on the air and
00:00:54you're looking live at the Mecca in Milwaukee.
00:00:58One of the greatest cities in America, and hi, everybody, I'm Cody Schiavone,
00:01:02along with the Executive Vice President of Wrestling Operations of World Championship
00:01:06Wrestling, Cowboy Bill Watson.
00:01:07I know, Bill, here in Milwaukee, you've got a lot of great memories of some great events.
00:01:11What a thrill to be back here.
00:01:13The last time I was here,
00:01:14I was a tag team partner with one of the all-time greats of wrestling, The Crusher.
00:01:18The man who made wrestling famous in Milwaukee.
00:01:21We wrestled Larry the X, Henning, and Handsome Harley Race.
00:01:25There were greats here like Vern Ganya.
00:01:28There was a young guy just starting, Ric Flair.
00:01:31A young tag team that dominated the world, Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdock.
00:01:36What an exciting place.
00:01:37It's so great to be here.
00:01:39It's the home of many great American institutions, including Harley-Davidson.
00:01:42Tonight, it's the home of Thundercage, and
00:01:45everybody looking forward to this big event.
00:01:47They sure are, and I'm looking forward to it.
00:01:49And Tony, there's a lot of exciting things happening.
00:01:51One thing, Van Hammer, Heavy Metal Van Hammer, had a muscle tear.
00:01:55Had abscessed, they've done surgery, he's doing well.
00:01:58I can't tell you how bad he wanted to be here, but he's unable to be here.
00:02:02However, we will have a replacement in the arm wrestling.
00:02:05Vinny Vegas will arm wrestle Tony Atlas.
00:02:07Okay, and this past Sunday on WCW's main event,
00:02:12there was an announcement made about your son Eric.
00:02:14About a situation involving he and Arn Anderson that he had been arrested.
00:02:18I know you have some comments on that.
00:02:19Well, certainly, and I've talked to Eric, and you gotta understand that I've
00:02:23had a great relationship with all my children.
00:02:25And Eric has always been like my son and my friend.
00:02:28And we talked, and he told me his side of it, and I believe him.
00:02:31But I told him, I said, Eric, because of my position and your position,
00:02:35we have to investigate this thoroughly.
00:02:37And I'm sure it'll come out as you say, we have suspended Eric for tonight.
00:02:41We'll try to have the investigation completed by this Saturday to
00:02:46have a complete report on television, but Eric is suspended tonight in this bout.
00:02:51And I know he's really disappointed.
00:02:53Bill, I'm sure he is.
00:02:54I do understand that in the back in the interview area,
00:02:56Larry Zabisko has caught up with Eric Watts.
00:02:59Let's go back to Larry along with Eric Watts right now, Larry.
00:03:02Well, you know, I've got Eric Watts back here with me now.
00:03:05And Eric, you've heard the decision.
00:03:07What's your reaction?
00:03:08Well, naturally, I'm very upset for several reasons.
00:03:10First of all, this was the biggest night of my life.
00:03:12I was gonna face Cactus Jack.
00:03:15Second of all, these are false accusations.
00:03:17These are false charges.
00:03:19And my father, due to his position, he had to make a decision.
00:03:22That's a suspension.
00:03:23But I know the truth will be told.
00:03:25And being a professional, I'm gonna make good out of this bad situation.
00:03:29And I'm gonna sit out and watch all this great talent in WCW, and
00:03:33I'm gonna be able to make sure for my next opponent, I know what's coming at me.
00:03:37Well, we've heard the retort from Eric Watts.
00:03:39Let's go back to Tony Schiavone and Cowboy Bill Watts.
00:03:43All right, Larry, Bill, you heard the comments from Eric.
00:03:45We're still gonna- You know, it's like being lined up for
00:03:47the kickoff of the biggest event of your life,
00:03:49getting yanked out of the game before it gets started.
00:03:51I can really empathize with him.
00:03:52We're still gonna have Cactus Jack one-on-one against Johnny B.
00:03:55Bad here tonight.
00:03:55Johnny B. Bad is one of the up-and-coming young stars we're excited about.
00:03:58There's gonna be a lot of interesting things happening here in 1993, and
00:04:02he will get tested by Wiley Bedford Cactus Jack.
00:04:05Let's hook him up.
00:04:06All right, let's go down to the two men who will give you the play-by-play story.
00:04:09Jesse, the Buddy Ventura, and Jim Ross.
00:04:12All right, Tony, thanks very much.
00:04:18Jesse, this is a thundercase situation, already taking a different complexion,
00:04:21with Heavy Metal Van Hammer unable to compete.
00:04:24Sting's team has three men.
00:04:26The other team, four big, tough guys in the most dangerous match ever in wrestling.
00:04:30Well, it's a huge disadvantage right from the get-go.
00:04:32You lose a partner, it's four-on-three.
00:04:34They're at a disadvantage, but I love it, Jim Ross.
00:04:38This is cage time.
00:04:39And anytime you, as a wrestler, are gonna step into the cage,
00:04:43you know the career is on the line.
00:04:46This matchup will be no disqualification.
00:04:48Come dressed as you are, street fight rules.
00:04:50That will be here on this broadcast tonight.
00:04:52But right now, let's go back up to our ring announcer, Gary Coppetta.
00:04:55Ladies and gentlemen, the first contest on The Clash of the Champions.
00:05:02It is set for one fall.
00:05:05Introducing first, from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico,
00:05:12weighing 302 pounds, Cactus Jack.
00:05:17Cactus Jack originally scheduled to take on Eric Watts in a bounty match.
00:05:24Due to Watts' suspension, Cactus Jack will make Johnny be bad.
00:05:28And in just a few moments, Gary Coppetta will have the introduction of one of
00:05:32WCW's most flamboyant athletes.
00:05:34Remember, Bad and Cactus were partners via the Lethal Lottery,
00:05:37back on December 28th at StarCage.
00:05:39They did not coexist very well.
00:05:41We'll talk more about that momentarily.
00:05:44And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent, he's from Macon, Georgia.
00:05:50He weighs 235 pounds and says he's the prettiest in world championship
00:05:58wrestling, Johnny B Bad.
00:06:03Ladies and gentlemen, as we mentioned, Johnny B Bad and Cactus Jack.
00:06:13This match signed at the very last moment due to young Eric Watts' suspension.
00:06:18We'd like to take you back, if we have the opportunity here,
00:06:21to December 28th at StarCage, when these two men were tag team partners.
00:06:26As I mentioned, via the Lethal Lottery.
00:06:28And there you can see some of the action from that matchup.
00:06:33And as Johnny B Bad came back in the ring, his teamwork with Cactus Jack,
00:06:38as you can see, not extremely cohesive.
00:06:42And tippers flared, and that left hook cost Cactus and Johnny B Bad the victory.
00:06:46Well, that's what the Lethal Lottery is all about.
00:06:51You have no idea who your partner's gonna be.
00:06:53And as you said, Ross, that particular night, it happened to be Cactus and
00:06:57Johnny B Bad.
00:06:59Well, now I think they're in a position that both of them like a lot better,
00:07:02facing each other, rather than being partners.
00:07:05But I'll tell you what amazes me, Ross.
00:07:08You look around the auditorium, I can't believe all the Cactus Jack signs out here.
00:07:13This guy is developing a following.
00:07:15What does that tell you?
00:07:16There's a lot of sick people in the world.
00:07:18Well, as sounded, referee Randy Anderson will sign this contest.
00:07:24It's Johnny B Bad with the hammerlock on Cactus Jack.
00:07:28And Cactus Jack got a couple of elbows in there.
00:07:31Cactus, just over 300 pounds, certainly has a size and
00:07:34strength advantage on Johnny B Bad.
00:07:36But Johnny B Bad with his quick hands, fighting his way out of the corner.
00:07:40Irish whip to the center of the ropes, and Cactus Jack holds on.
00:07:43Well, I'm not too sure of Cactus Jack.
00:07:45If I was in his position, I would not want to punch out with Johnny B Bad.
00:07:50Johnny B Bad with a great amateur boxing career.
00:07:53Granted, he's not supposed to punch in that ring, but
00:07:55he certainly can get away with it.
00:07:57And if I'm Cactus, I don't want to get in a closed fist thing with him.
00:08:00There's a legal forearm right there by Cactus Jack.
00:08:04And possibly Jack's gonna try to take this match to the floor at some point.
00:08:16Irish whip by Cactus Jack, Johnny B Bad again, showing his quickness.
00:08:21Cactus went all the way to the turnbuckle.
00:08:23Johnny B Bad with that cradle, and they got a near fall.
00:08:28And a beautiful drop kick by Johnny B Bad, arm drag takedown.
00:08:32And this is what Bad needs to do in the bout.
00:08:35He needs to turn it into wrestling.
00:08:37Now, I'm not too sure how long Cactus Jack is gonna wanna actually wrestle out there.
00:08:43Because he's made his fame and fortune by taking things to the floor, and
00:08:46by being totally unpredictable.
00:08:48Certainly is one of the tough brawlers right now in the game.
00:08:54As Johnny B Bad flying the wrist lock, takes another turn.
00:08:57And Cactus Jack got the forearm to the face.
00:09:01Bad holding on, shows good concentration.
00:09:03But finally, Cactus Jack causes the separation with yet another forearm.
00:09:08And there's a boot to the head.
00:09:10And I'll tell you what, Cactus's hygiene doesn't exactly leave a lot to be
00:09:14desired here either.
00:09:16Look at the guy, the haircut.
00:09:20Johnny B Bad attacking Cactus Jack, taking him to the turnbuckle.
00:09:24Reversal of the Irish whip.
00:09:26And Johnny B Bad caught Cactus coming in.
00:09:28And he does it one more time, that foot right to the face.
00:09:32Right hand sends Cactus down.
00:09:34There was the right hand.
00:09:35Now, the referee should step in on that.
00:09:37You are not allowed to close a fist.
00:09:39Inside cradle by Johnny B Bad.
00:09:43You know, Bad can get away with the punching, but
00:09:45the ref should step forward and at least warn him of it.
00:09:47Johnny B Bad catches Cactus coming off the ropes with a well-placed elbow to
00:09:54the chest, and the bad man quickly goes up top.
00:09:59And my, he went for the, I would think the sunset flip.
00:10:05Cactus moved out of the way, drops the elbow, 300 pounds.
00:10:08He hooks the leg.
00:10:09He got him.
00:10:09He's got him.
00:10:10Here is your winner of the match, Cactus Jack.
00:10:16Cactus Jack quickly capitalized on the one mistake that Johnny B Bad made,
00:10:20Jesse Ventura.
00:10:21Absolutely, and I've talked about it before, is if you're gonna go up to that
00:10:26top rope and you're gonna jump off, you better make sure you hit what you're aiming
00:10:30at.
00:10:31And here you see Bad coming off the top.
00:10:33Beautiful looking flip, but nobody home.
00:10:36Knots the wind out of himself, flat on the mat.
00:10:39Cactus right there to drive that hard elbow and the 300 pounds of body weight.
00:10:44Hooks the leg nicely.
00:10:46Referee in position, one, two, three, one mistake, one loss.
00:10:51And let's go back up to Tony Schiavone, who's got news of the new NWA champion.
00:10:57Thanks, Jim, you're very right.
00:10:58We do have news of a new NWA champion.
00:11:00On January 4th at the Tokyo Egg Dome,
00:11:03the Great Muta defeated Masahiro Chono to become the new NWA heavyweight champion.

00:11:21including footage on how Muta defeated Masahiro Chono.
00:11:25Also wanna remind you tonight, the wrestling hotline going on.
00:11:28And during the breaks here tonight, during Clash of the Champions,
00:11:31you'll be able to call in and
00:11:33talk to many of the great athletes competing in tonight's Clash of the Champions.
00:11:36We're gonna take our first break and
00:11:38be back with Too Cold Scorpio against Scotty Flamingo, live here on TBS.
00:11:42It's cold man, shoot the ball.
00:11:47Man, I know I can make it but my hands are cold.
00:11:52Man, you can't make it.
00:11:57Man, you can't make it.
00:12:02Man, you can't make it.
00:12:07Man, you can't make it.
00:12:10Man, you can't make it.
00:12:12You're gonna be late for school.
00:12:14Man, I can make it, give me this ball.
00:12:16Everybody, here comes Too Cold Scorpio.
00:12:24Man, you can't make it.
00:12:26Man, that was too cold, that was too cold.
00:12:48Ain't you kids supposed to be in school?
00:12:50No man, we going to the game room.
00:12:54What do you mean to the arcade?
00:12:55You guys need to be in school trying to get an education.
00:12:57Tell you what, I'll take you guys to school.
00:12:59Are we going to ride in the limousine?
00:13:01Nuh-uh.
00:13:02We're going to walk?
00:13:03Uh-uh.
00:13:05Tell you what we're going to do, we're going to step.
00:13:08Scorpio, too cold.
00:13:13He's got rhythm in his blood, does all the latest moves.
00:13:15He's his own man and he does his own grooves.
00:13:17Who's his opponent?
00:13:18He don't care.
00:13:19Like a Gulf War brother, he attacks on the air.
00:13:23Too cold.
00:13:25Scorpio.
00:13:26Scorpio.
00:13:27Too cold.
00:13:28Too cold.
00:13:30He walks the top rope, his old blood's here.
00:13:32If he wanna mix it up, it's you he will diss.
00:13:34Drop kicks, fighting punches in his repertoire.
00:13:36Know that about it, gonna be a superstar.
00:13:39Too cold.
00:13:41Too cold.
00:13:42Scorpio.
00:13:43Scorpio.
00:13:44Too cold.
00:13:45Too cold.
00:13:47He's loaded with fucking fire soul.
00:13:49They say, who is it?
00:13:50Too cold.
00:13:51Scorpio.
00:13:52Too cold.
00:13:53Too cold.
00:13:54Too cold.
00:13:55Scorpio.
00:14:00He's got so much offense, you wonder what's in store.
00:14:02A moussalle on the ring or a one on the floor.
00:14:04There's so many things, so many to list.
00:14:06But you better be aware of the diss or don't miss.
00:14:09Too cold.
00:14:10Too, too cold.
00:14:11Too cold.
00:14:13Scorpio.
00:14:19The following contest, it is set for one fall.
00:14:23Introducing first, from Denver, Colorado, weighing 231 pounds,
00:14:30Ladies and gentlemen, his opponent, from Palm Beach, Florida, weighing 220 pounds,
00:15:00and 29 pounds, Scotty Flamingo!
00:15:09Jim Ross and Jesse, the Body of Interim, back with you here live on TBS.
00:15:14Two Cold Scorpio and Scotty Flamingo, set to go one-on-one.
00:15:19And this certainly features one of the most fascinating, offensive competitors in two Cold Scorpio
00:15:26against one man that has unlimited self-confidence in Scotty Flamingo, Jess.
00:15:31Oh, it's gonna be a battle, Jim. You know, I'll tell you what, Scorpio's hit WCW more dynamically than anybody I've ever seen.
00:15:39I mean, what a following this guy is getting, this young guy.
00:15:43And he's excited. What a great piece of film work there that we just saw, here on TBS.
00:15:48And now we get him live in the center of the ring, here at the Mecca, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
00:15:57Home of the Cheeseheads.
00:16:01It is the dairy capitalism.
00:16:03No, they call them Cheeseheads.
00:16:08Scotty Flamingo, trying to quiet this crowd down, but a very enthusiastic crowd here on a very cold and snowy night in Milwaukee.
00:16:17Flamingo with the early advantage here, but you've gotta keep your eye on this Scorpio.
00:16:23His offense comes from many, many different positions.
00:16:28He's pretty unorthodox in the ring, and that's what makes his techniques very, very effective, is because he catches guys off guard.
00:16:36You don't know where Scorpio's coming from, but I'll tell you what, Flamingo, as cocky as he is, he's gonna have a few tricks of his own, too.
00:16:43Shoulder block by Scorpio.
00:16:47And Flamingo got a shoulder block in, Scorpio.
00:16:50Well, as I said, he comes at you in a lot of different ways.
00:16:53There's that Barsalars kick, and he kicks Flamingo.
00:16:57Caught him right in the face, and all the way outside goes Scotty Flamingo, Scorpio.
00:17:04Uh-huh. Oh, he got caught.
00:17:07I thought for a minute Flamingo had done his homework.
00:17:11Flamingo had done his homework, because Scorpio loves to come-
00:17:14Whoa, and a big chop.
00:17:15He loves to come off that apron on his opponents, and Flamingo ducked the first one, but left himself open for the second try.
00:17:23Good move by Flamingo.
00:17:25Using the flare of the foot there a couple of times.
00:17:27Dropkick, and he takes it out to Cole Scorpio outside.
00:17:35I told you this was gonna be a good matchup, and watch Flamingo-
00:17:38Whoa!
00:17:39Flamingo up and over with a high crossbody.
00:17:42He's giving the Scorpio a little of his own medicine here.
00:17:45I wonder how Too Cold likes it, seeing somebody coming at him with aerial tactics like that.
00:17:50He's usually the giver, not the receiver.
00:17:56Flamingo stomping away, using the flat of his foot, which is a legal maneuver.
00:18:00Snap Mayers.
00:18:01Too Cold over, lateral press, and only a one count this time.
00:18:06Inside cradle there, and Scorpio got an earful.
00:18:10And Flamingo back up very quickly.
00:18:12Scorpio still trying to get untracked after that crossbody over the top by Scotty Flamingo.
00:18:18Absolutely.
00:18:19You talked about Scorpio being an offensive wrestler, but right now he's wrestling defensively,
00:18:23and it's because of moves like that by Scotty Flamingo.
00:18:26Beautiful suplex.
00:18:27Lateral press.
00:18:28He got two out.
00:18:29Flamingo just blatantly choking Too Cold Scorpio.
00:18:33Referee quickly interjecting himself there.
00:18:36Reverse chinlock now by Scotty Flamingo.
00:18:38But the nice thing in Flamingo's favor is you can blatantly choke, but only for a four count.
00:18:44You better not let it get to five.
00:18:46There he goes with the reverse chinlock, and you can bet if Flamingo gets the chance,
00:18:50he's going to slide that forearm underneath and turn it into a choke.
00:18:54Flamingo trying to build some advantage here, and it's Scorpio with those forearms.
00:19:00Got a couple of them in the face of Scotty Flamingo.
00:19:02Irish whip, middle of the rope.
00:19:04Nice, a hip lock takeover, and a dropkick.
00:19:07And now Scorpio's turning it loose, and you can see Flamingo down on his knees.
00:19:11He wants a timeout.
00:19:13Scorpio's got a chance.
00:19:14He's got a chance.
00:19:15He's got a chance.
00:19:16He's got a chance.
00:19:17He's got a chance.
00:19:18He's got a chance.
00:19:19He's got a chance.
00:19:20He's got a chance.
00:19:21He wants a timeout.
00:19:22Scorpio ain't giving him one.
00:19:24Big body slam.
00:19:25He's going up to the top, Ross.
00:19:27Scorpio up top.
00:19:28Taking a chance here.
00:19:30Oh, my.
00:19:31Crossbody right off the top.
00:19:33One, two.
00:19:34And Flamingo somehow able to kick out.
00:19:36Wow.
00:19:38I don't know how Flamingo managed that one.
00:19:40I figured it was all over but the crying right there.
00:19:42Whoa.
00:19:43And Flamingo with a cradle.
00:19:45Flamingo's got a cradle there.
00:19:48Caught him in the clothesline.
00:19:50Down goes Tukole.
00:19:51And Tukole kicks out before the three.
00:19:53Scotty Flamingo.
00:19:56Showing he's not intimidated here by this.
00:19:58Oh, my.
00:19:59He got kicked there with the martial arts.
00:20:03Tukole dropped the leg.
00:20:05Beautiful twisting leg drop right there.
00:20:07And he's going up to the top again.
00:20:10Tukole hit it.
00:20:14Got him.
00:20:16Ladies and gentlemen, the official winner, Tukole Scorpio.
00:20:22He defines high risk offense.
00:20:25Takes a lot of chances, Jess.
00:20:27And not only that, he can dance.
00:20:28Here's the first one.
00:20:29Actually turning a half twist in the air.
00:20:32Comes down with a big slam off the top.
00:20:35And here's the full one and a half from the pike position.
00:20:39Lands on Scotty Flamingo.
00:20:41Hooks the leg.
00:20:42And the big three count.
00:20:44Tukole was just playing Tukole for Scotty Flamingo.
00:20:47Fans, we'll have a special feature on Thunder Cage, which is later tonight.
00:20:51Special feature is next.
00:20:52Don't go away.
00:20:53We're live in Milwaukee at the Clash of the Champions.
00:20:57Welcome back to Milwaukee at Clash of the Champions.
00:21:00And not too long from now, high above the ring,
00:21:03they will lower the giant cage.
00:21:05And we'll be set to go with Thunder Cage, a cage so big,
00:21:09it encompasses the outside ringside area as well.
00:21:12It's going to be quite a street fight.
00:21:13We'll be right back.
00:21:14Not too long from now, high above the ring,
00:21:16they will lower the giant cage.
00:21:18And we'll be set to go with Thunder Cage, a cage so big,
00:21:22it encompasses the outside ringside area as well.
00:21:25It's going to be quite a street fight.
00:21:26And now we know it is going to be four on three as well.
00:21:30Some very interesting circumstances leading Paul Orndorff
00:21:33to being on Big Van Vader's team.
00:21:35It happened just this past Sunday on the main event here on TBS.
00:21:39Let's take a look at the entire story.
00:21:42Because of a neck injury suffered by
00:21:44United States Heavyweight Champion Ravishing Rick Roode,
00:21:47Team Vader spokesman Harley Race was forced to make a substitution
00:21:50in tonight's Thunder Cage showdown.
00:21:52Race explained to Michael Hayes on Sunday's main event broadcast
00:21:56how he planned on replacing Roode.
00:21:58Well, let me explain it to you, Michael.
00:22:01First off, you go out in the WCW and you look around
00:22:05and you find the toughest two individuals
00:22:08that you can possibly get.
00:22:10Then you bring them into a ring and you let them wrestle one another
00:22:14to determine who's going to fill that void.
00:22:17And I went out and I found two of the nastiest, the meanest,
00:22:21and one of them a great, superb athlete to go along with it.
00:22:26The other one just downright nasty and mean.
00:22:29Mr. Wonderful, Paul Orndorff, and Cactus Jacket
00:22:36are going to wrestle one another right here
00:22:39in this ring tonight.
00:22:41And I'm going to be walking around this ringside
00:22:43and we're going to see which one of them comes out on top.
00:22:48And who comes out on top is going to fill that void.
00:22:52So the match was set for later in the program
00:22:54between two of WCW's toughest competitors.
00:22:57Here's the explosion that ensued.
00:23:02Race pushing Cactus Jack back in the ring.
00:23:05What a battle we have had here.
00:23:08Cactus raking the eyes of Mr. Wonderful, Paul Orndorff.
00:23:13Cactus here on the apron.
00:23:15And Cactus comes off on Harley Race.
00:23:19Cactus Jack was obviously pushed back in the ring by Race
00:23:24one time too many.
00:23:27The New Mexico madman grabs Orndorff's foot
00:23:30and brings Orndorff now out here on the apron.
00:23:34This is a no disqualification street fight
00:23:37to see who replaces Ravishing Rick Rude.
00:23:41And wait a minute, there's Big Van Vader.
00:23:44Vader from behind.
00:23:45He must have been watching on the monitor.
00:23:48And when Race was manhandled,
00:23:50here comes the world's heavyweight champion
00:23:53hammering away at Cactus Jack.
00:23:55And now here comes Harley Race.
00:23:58He sends the referee outside.
00:24:00That should cost him some money.
00:24:02Orndorff's got Cactus up
00:24:04and drills him with a pile driver.
00:24:08Cactus Jack, big triple team.
00:24:11And Race drives a knee right to his face.
00:24:17Cactus Jack isn't a helpless state here.
00:24:20Orndorff's got that belt around his neck again.
00:24:24Trying to choke the life out of Cactus.
00:24:28Race grabbing his feet.
00:24:30And here comes Vader.
00:24:33450.
00:24:34They're trying to bust him apart here.
00:24:37Race going back up top.
00:24:40Here he comes again.
00:24:46After their brutal triple team of Cactus Jack,
00:24:49Race, Vader, and new Thundercage teammate
00:24:51Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff
00:24:53return to the scene of their attack.
00:24:55But so did Cactus Jack.
00:24:58Cactus Jack's got that shovel coming in the ring.
00:25:01Look out.
00:25:02Oh, boom on Vader.
00:25:05He is going at Race in the face.
00:25:07Cactus Jack is back.
00:25:10And he is getting his revenge right there.
00:25:13He knocks down the world's champion.
00:25:16Cactus Jack with that shovel is wearing him out here.
00:25:21Orndorff, Race in the back of the head.
00:25:23Cactus has gone nuts here.
00:25:28Vader.
00:25:30Mr. Wonderful.
00:25:32Harley Race.
00:25:34You made one big mistake.
00:25:38You let Cactus Jack live.
00:25:41You let Cactus Jack live.
00:25:44So there you hear it.
00:25:46The situation that led Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff
00:25:49to be in that big Thundercage event here tonight.
00:25:52And what an event it will be.
00:25:54Fans, when we come back,
00:25:56one of the best athletes ever in WCW, Brad Armstrong,
00:25:59goes one-on-one against newcomer from Canada, Chris Benoit.
00:26:02Our first look at Benoit.
00:26:04Don't forget to call the wrestling hotline during this break.
00:26:06You get to talk to Z-Man and Johnny Gunn.
00:26:08We'll be back with Pleasure of the Champions,
00:26:10live from Milwaukee, fans, right after this.
00:26:12A couple of blows and I'm going to put you on your rope.
00:26:15Chop, chop, bam, then a left, right, left,
00:26:17and a kick and a pin to the one, two, three, then it's over with.
00:26:20So give that bell a whack, and I'm going to put this man on his back.
00:26:24Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
00:26:26on the Clash of the Champions.
00:26:28It is set for a one-fall.
00:26:30Introducing first, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada,
00:26:34weighing 223 pounds,
00:26:38Chris Benoit.
00:26:42Chris Benoit making his way to the ring.
00:26:44Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of the Champions.
00:26:46There's no doubt about it,
00:26:48this is going to be a very, very tough match.
00:26:50Benoit making his way to the ring.
00:26:52Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of the Champions.
00:26:54This young man, a seven-year pro,
00:26:56has spent much of the last four years competing in Japan.
00:27:01Very highly regarded international competitor,
00:27:05trained by Stu Hart in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
00:27:08Outstanding athlete, but he must be at his very best.
00:27:12Because I can assure you, his opponent will be.
00:27:16And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent,
00:27:19from Marietta, Georgia,
00:27:21weighing 234 pounds,
00:27:25Brad Armstrong.
00:27:29Brad Armstrong, a second-generation wrestler.
00:27:31His father, Bullet Bob Armstrong,
00:27:33currently the commissioner in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.
00:27:37Brad certainly pumped up for this one.
00:27:40Jesse, I talked to him before we went on the air.
00:27:42He and Benoit both know
00:27:44that this is perhaps the largest audience
00:27:47that either have ever wrestled live before.
00:27:49It should be a great contest
00:27:51between two finely conditioned athletes.
00:27:54Well, I'll tell you what,
00:27:56where Benoit was trained speaks for itself,
00:27:59because there are horror stories
00:28:01that come out of Stu Hart's basement
00:28:03of people that went in there and never came back.
00:28:06So if you come up those stairs
00:28:08out of Stu Hart's basement in Calgary,
00:28:10believe me, you're tough, and you can wrestle.
00:28:12And Chris Benoit is that.
00:28:15Armstrong with the advantage, side headlock.
00:28:19Both these athletes extremely, extremely quick and agile.
00:28:29Oh, Armstrong went for the dropkick,
00:28:31and you saw the foot speed and quickness reaction time
00:28:34of Benoit as he avoided the dropkick.
00:28:36Irish whip to the center of the ropes,
00:28:38and he caught Armstrong with that foot
00:28:41deeply into the abdomen.
00:28:43Oh, good move there by Armstrong.
00:28:45Great counter move.
00:28:47Brad going for the hip lock.
00:28:51Counters.
00:28:52Takes Benoit down.
00:28:53Handed down again.
00:28:54The dropkick hit.
00:28:55Arm drag.
00:28:56Benoit tried to pull that arm out,
00:28:58but it was too late.
00:28:59Yep, his body was already going over,
00:29:01and Armstrong right there to hook in
00:29:03with an arm bar right there down onto the mat.
00:29:06And this is gonna be a great, great matchup,
00:29:08because these are two guys
00:29:09that are just now coming into their prime
00:29:12as professional wrestlers.
00:29:14You spend about the first four or five years of your career
00:29:17much the same as baseball or whatever,
00:29:20working your way to the top,
00:29:21but then after about four or five,
00:29:23it'll show whether you can get to the top,
00:29:25and both Armstrong and Benoit
00:29:26are on the verge of greatness here in WCW.
00:29:29This is the first time we have seen Benoit
00:29:31in a one-on-one situation.
00:29:32He did compete with Beef Wellington
00:29:34in the NWA Tag Team Tournament last June.
00:29:36Great nip up there.
00:29:38Counters into the wrist lock,
00:29:39and Armstrong doesn't let him have the advantage long.
00:29:41And he dropkicks.
00:29:42Another dropkick by Armstrong.
00:29:43Arm drag quickly, deeply into the arm of Chris Benoit.
00:29:47Well, it was that tag tournament
00:29:48where I got my first chance to see Chris Benoit,
00:29:51and you could see right there
00:29:52that this guy is something special.
00:29:56You know, and Armstrong, a great wrestler, too,
00:29:58and one of them's going up,
00:30:00one of them's going down tonight.
00:30:02One of them moves forward with his career.
00:30:04The other one's gonna have to take a step back.
00:30:07Armstrong controlling things right now
00:30:09with that arm barred.
00:30:11Working on the elbow, and now...
00:30:15interesting test of strength there.
00:30:16Obviously, Armstrong with an advantage here
00:30:19in this position, Jess.
00:30:20Absolutely. He's on top. It's that simple.
00:30:23You're 220, 225 pounds,
00:30:25and you're on top in this knuckle lock of this position.
00:30:28You have the easy advantage.
00:30:30Oh, look at the strength of Benoit right there.
00:30:33Armstrong coming down with full body weight on him
00:30:35in the bridge position.
00:30:37Couldn't break him down, and look at that, Ross.
00:30:39Impressive, and I don't impress easy.
00:30:41Very impressive. You're exactly right about that,
00:30:44and now it's Armstrong being tested
00:30:47by Chris Benoit, Benoit with the advantage.
00:30:52And look at the strength of Armstrong.
00:30:55He, too, in magnificent condition.
00:30:57Good takedown by Armstrong.
00:30:59Armstrong back with the advantage into the arm bar.
00:31:02And notice how Armstrong flattened himself out
00:31:04when he got that arm bar, extends that rear leg,
00:31:07and gets as prone as he can possibly get with it.
00:31:10Both these athletes extremely explosive
00:31:13offensive competitors.
00:31:15They like to take chances offensively,
00:31:18but right now it's Armstrong
00:31:20who's certainly keeping Benoit at bay, so to speak,
00:31:23in this grounded state.
00:31:25Benoit making his way back up
00:31:28to the vertical base there.
00:31:35Good counter by Benoit,
00:31:37and Armstrong quickly regains the advantage.
00:31:41And another reversal by Benoit into the hammer lock.
00:31:45Seen some good wrestling right here
00:31:47as well as the aerial stuff.
00:31:49And Armstrong negotiating Benoit right outside.
00:31:53Very clever move by Brad Armstrong.
00:31:57Well, that's called knowing your way around the ring in there.
00:32:00Armstrong set him up on the outside.
00:32:02He walked him around, kind of lacks a dazzle,
00:32:05and then all of a sudden dipped over,
00:32:07flipped Benoit right between the ropes out to the floor.
00:32:10Armstrong's got about 3 1⁄2 or 4 years
00:32:14experience advantage on young Chris Benoit.
00:32:18And Benoit going back to that hammer lock again.
00:32:21I doubt if he'll get fooled twice.
00:32:24I don't think Armstrong will get away
00:32:26with pitching him out through the ropes again.
00:32:29And Benoit trying to take a page out of Armstrong's playbook.
00:32:33Didn't work!
00:32:34And another drop kick.
00:32:35Armstrong has been very successful
00:32:37executing his drop kick,
00:32:38and he followed it up with another nifty arm drag takedown.
00:32:45Well, Brad Armstrong wasn't gonna fall
00:32:47for a move that he just performed right there.
00:32:50Chris Benoit showing a little bit of inexperience
00:32:53because, you know,
00:32:54Brad just got through pulling that one on him,
00:32:56and it's pretty tough to come back
00:32:57and try to get it on your opponent
00:32:59that quick in the matchup.
00:33:00Maybe if he'd have waited four or five minutes,
00:33:02he might have got away with it.
00:33:06Even though this is Benoit's first opportunity
00:33:09here on a clash to compete one-on-one,
00:33:11he and Armstrong certainly are no strangers,
00:33:13as Benoit's international reputation
00:33:15certainly speaks for itself.
00:33:16Good quickness there by Brad Armstrong.
00:33:18He's got a lot of experience.
00:33:20He's got a lot of experience
00:33:22Good quickness there by Armstrong.
00:33:23Double leg pickup by Benoit.
00:33:25And Armstrong counters.
00:33:26Great leg strength by Brad Armstrong.
00:33:28And Benoit comes up with a kick right to the abdomen.
00:33:32Well, I love this.
00:33:33Brad Armstrong definitely getting the advantage wrestling,
00:33:36so Benoit's gonna stretch the rules.
00:33:38Oh! Whoa!
00:33:39Benoit front face-locked him.
00:33:41I thought he was gonna try to execute a suplex,
00:33:43but instead he just drove Armstrong
00:33:46right over the top ring rope.
00:33:47Now, that's a steel cable up there.
00:33:49That's called a half a slingshot suplex.
00:33:51You just leave the suplex off and slingshot him.
00:33:56By any name, it certainly was effective.
00:33:58No doubt about that, as Armstrong
00:34:00is in a tough spot out there on the apron headbutt.
00:34:03And Benoit got that headbutt in.
00:34:06And Benoit, what a move!
00:34:09What a move by Benoit,
00:34:10catapulting himself over the top rope,
00:34:13catching Armstrong with that clothesline,
00:34:16and he drilled Armstrong
00:34:17right down to the concrete floor.
00:34:19Phenomenal move. I've never...
00:34:21Yes!
00:34:22I'm gonna applaud that one, Ross.
00:34:25Phenomenal move by Chris Benoit.
00:34:27Never quite seen the clothesline done in that manner.
00:34:31Catapulted himself all the way outside the ring,
00:34:34caught Brad Armstrong,
00:34:35and now advantage in this bout
00:34:37has definitely switched to the Canadian Chris Benoit.
00:34:42Benoit Irish whip going left to right.
00:34:44Left to right. Caught him with a high-impact clothesline.
00:34:47And Armstrong now has really got to regroup
00:34:51and regroup in a hurry.
00:34:54Front face lock by Chris Benoit.
00:34:56Snap suplex.
00:34:59Lateral press.
00:35:00He's going for the pin right here,
00:35:02and he got a near fall.
00:35:03A two-count.
00:35:04I'll tell you, he textbook snap suplexed him right there.
00:35:07And Brad Armstrong in big trouble.
00:35:09I like this Benoit.
00:35:10You know why I like him?
00:35:11He can wrestle,
00:35:12but if he's at any disadvantage at all,
00:35:15he'll do what it takes to win.
00:35:17I can tell that right now.
00:35:18You can see it in the gleam in his eye.
00:35:20He's business in there.
00:35:21He's out to win wrestling matches,
00:35:23and he don't care how he does it.
00:35:26This young man certainly seems to be a walking weapon
00:35:28as he has used his head.
00:35:30He's used virtually every part of his anatomy
00:35:32to attack Brad Armstrong.
00:35:34And Armstrong
00:35:36Got a...
00:35:38Got knee lift.
00:35:40Stunning.
00:35:41Chris Benoit here,
00:35:43and now it's Armstrong
00:35:44trying to reassert himself.
00:35:47Very competitive contest here.
00:35:50Oh, I knew it would be.
00:35:53Backbreaker.
00:35:54Oh, that was perfectly executed.
00:35:56And look at this.
00:35:57He's keeping him right on the thigh right there.
00:35:59Putting the chin and the knee,
00:36:01putting the pressure on those lower vertebrae.
00:36:03And I'll tell you,
00:36:04that's an area that a wrestler can end his career.
00:36:06Wow, big slam.
00:36:08Did you see Armstrong?
00:36:09He bounced a foot off the canvas.
00:36:12Benoit climbing the ladder,
00:36:13but Armstrong beats him up.
00:36:16And now it's Armstrong.
00:36:17They're right above us here.
00:36:18Benoit puts Armstrong in the eye.
00:36:20Benoit on the top rope.
00:36:22Going for the headbutt.
00:36:23And nobody there.
00:36:24Armstrong had just a split second to react,
00:36:28and he capitalized.
00:36:29He moved out of the way.
00:36:30Benoit now had a distinct disadvantage.
00:36:32Let's see if Armstrong can capitalize.
00:36:35We saw one match won on one simple mistake.
00:36:38Now we'll see if Benoit goes down
00:36:40from a big mistake off the top rope.
00:36:42Nice swinging neckbreaker by Armstrong.
00:36:46And Bradley measures Benoit.
00:36:49Drives the elbow,
00:36:50and he got a near fall there.
00:36:52You know, I'm gonna repeat it again, Jim Ross.
00:36:55You see what happens?
00:36:56People love to go up to that top rope.
00:36:58Full Nelson into the German suplex.
00:37:00And the bridge.
00:37:01What a move.
00:37:02What a move.
00:37:03And he got it.
00:37:04Ladies and gentlemen,
00:37:05the winner of the match,
00:37:06Chris Benoit.
00:37:10What a tremendous offensive move
00:37:12by Chris Benoit.
00:37:14He caught Armstrong in the full Nelson,
00:37:16and then the German suplex.
00:37:18Jesse, what an outstanding wrestling match
00:37:20we have just seen.
00:37:21Look at this clothesline, though.
00:37:23Off of the top rope,
00:37:24all the way over the rope.
00:37:25Sacrifices himself.
00:37:27Sacrifices himself onto the floor.
00:37:29There's the full Nelson.
00:37:30Back into the suplex move.
00:37:32Excellent bridge.
00:37:33Referee in position.
00:37:34One, two, three.
00:37:35Armstrong with a tough loss there.
00:37:37Big, big victory for Chris Benoit.
00:37:41And now, ladies and gentlemen,
00:37:42let's go back up to Tony Schiavone.
00:37:45Okay, Jim, thank you very much.
00:37:47When you think about the great tag teams
00:37:48that have competed in professional wrestling,
00:37:50one team comes to mind, certainly.
00:37:52Ricky and Robert, the Rock and Roll Express.
00:37:54Several times, they have held
00:37:55the World Tag Team title.
00:37:57Well, Ricky and Robert,
00:37:58the Rock and Roll Express,
00:37:59are back together again, we understand.
00:38:01Enjoying a lot of success.
00:38:03Let's take a very special look
00:38:04at Ricky and Robert,
00:38:05the Rock and Roll Express.
00:38:08As many of the wrestling fans
00:38:09have read in magazines
00:38:10and newspapers around the country,
00:38:12one of the top tag teams
00:38:13in the history of TVS,
00:38:15Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson,
00:38:17the legendary Rock and Roll Express,
00:38:19are back together again.
00:38:21They're currently the tag champions
00:38:23of Smoky Mountain Wrestling,
00:38:24a hot new regional promotion
00:38:26covering Tennessee, Kentucky,
00:38:28Virginia, and West Virginia.
00:38:30Ironically, the team they defeated
00:38:32for the title is managed
00:38:33by Jim Cornette,
00:38:34the team of Stan Lane and Tom Pritchard,
00:38:36the Heavenly Bodies.
00:38:38WCW has arranged
00:38:39with Smoky Mountain Commissioner
00:38:41Bullet Bob Armstrong
00:38:43to sign the Rock and Roll Express
00:38:44to appear at Super Brawl III
00:38:47on Sunday, February 21st,
00:38:49marking the first time
00:38:51that tag champions
00:38:52from another United States
00:38:53organization will appear
00:38:54on a World Championship Wrestling
00:38:56pay-per-view.
00:38:57Let's go now to Smoky Mountain
00:38:59Wrestling and see
00:39:00the Rock and Roll Express
00:39:02in action.
00:39:03...is an expert at that.
00:39:05And already now,
00:39:06Robert Gibson is feeling
00:39:08the effects of the karate kicks
00:39:09and the chops now from Stan Lane.
00:39:12Here's Lane whipped to the rope.
00:39:13Oh, and he got Gibson by the foot.
00:39:15Takes a lot of athletic ability
00:39:18to be able to do that, fans.
00:39:19And at the size of Robert Gibson
00:39:21and the power he's got,
00:39:22that's just an added extra
00:39:25that he's got in his arsenal.
00:39:28Double tosses there
00:39:29as Gibson and Morton both
00:39:31win the ring.
00:39:32Rock and Roll Express are united.
00:39:33They are back together.
00:39:34I think they're wrestling better
00:39:35as a tag team now than ever before.
00:39:38You know, this might be
00:39:39an extra incentive also
00:39:41for Rock and Roll.
00:39:42If they know they're only
00:39:43gonna get one shot,
00:39:44they're gonna make the most of it.
00:39:45Look at Morton,
00:39:46through the legs.
00:39:48Back with a toss in the arm track
00:39:50and another arm drag.
00:39:51Quickly down goes Richard.
00:39:52Now it's Lane.
00:39:53Arm dragged again
00:39:54as he's got them both down.
00:39:55Lane goes out of the ring
00:39:57through the ropes.
00:39:58Richard may be in trouble.
00:39:59Wrong corner.
00:40:00There was Gibson.
00:40:01Yeah, he needs to get over there
00:40:03close to home territory.
00:40:04And again, he reaches up
00:40:06to the wrong man, Dutch.
00:40:07He must be stunned already.
00:40:09Don't you think Jim Cornette
00:40:11is taking a tremendous risk
00:40:12by doing this and having this match?
00:40:14Good arm drag.
00:40:15Take down again by Ripson.
00:40:16Now, wait a minute.
00:40:18Wait just a second.
00:40:19No tag was made.
00:40:20No tag.
00:40:21Jimmy Cornette.
00:40:22That was Cornette.
00:40:23Jimmy Cornette informing
00:40:24the referee, Mark Curtis.
00:40:26Cornette can blame no one
00:40:27but himself.
00:40:28He had no business
00:40:29up on the apron.
00:40:30You gotta blame Jim Cornette
00:40:32for that.
00:40:33Any of you kids out there
00:40:34that want to be rushers,
00:40:35watch these guys here
00:40:37because they do it
00:40:38like the textbook says to do it.
00:40:40Dutch, I've been informed, too,
00:40:41that Brian Lee has been
00:40:42changing the tournament.
00:40:43Wait a minute, a double.
00:40:44He rolled over both men.
00:40:45A tag to Gibson.
00:40:46The Freshman is in.
00:40:48Look at Gibson
00:40:49go to work on both of them.
00:40:50Okay.
00:40:51He's gonna slam them together.
00:40:52Oh!
00:40:53Right now.
00:40:56Gibson right over Pritchard.
00:40:58Martin over Pritchard.
00:40:59Double dropkick.
00:41:00There's the Rock and Roll Express's
00:41:01trademark move right there,
00:41:02their signature move.
00:41:03Take perfect timing.
00:41:19A few weeks back,
00:41:21I had the chance to be the host
00:41:23of the strongest arm competition
00:41:26in WCW.
00:41:28Well, the winner of that
00:41:30was Heavy Metal Van Hammer.
00:41:33As we all know,
00:41:34the Heavy Metal Man is injured now,
00:41:37so he can't defend that title.
00:41:40But a couple things else
00:41:42came to mind
00:41:43after the tournament started.
00:41:45Number one,
00:41:46Tony Atlas was not given a chance
00:41:48to compete in that tournament,
00:41:50so I'm gonna give him
00:41:51a second chance.
00:41:53Number two,
00:41:54it came to my attention
00:41:56that Vinny Vegas came forward
00:41:58and told me he had
00:42:00an unfair disadvantage.
00:42:03He's left-handed.
00:42:06So Vinny wants another shot,
00:42:08and he wants to be able
00:42:09to do it left-handed.
00:42:11Are you fine with going
00:42:12with either arm, Atlas?
00:42:14What's wrong with him?
00:42:15I don't care if he's left-handed,
00:42:17right-handed,
00:42:18or center-handed.
00:42:20There we go.
00:42:21He don't care.
00:42:22So Vegas gets a shot
00:42:24left-handed.
00:42:26Tony Atlas and Vinny Vegas.
00:42:31Left-handed.
00:42:42Make sure of the grip, gentlemen.
00:42:44You gotta be happy with the grip.
00:42:55They're going left-handed.
00:43:01Even right now,
00:43:03nobody with an advantage.
00:43:07I can tell you,
00:43:08I can tell Vegas is left-handed.
00:43:10He's hanging in there.
00:43:14Atlas with advantage.
00:43:21Here comes Vinny Vegas back.
00:43:24He's rolling the dice.
00:43:33He's got Atlas going.
00:43:34Vegas is getting him down.
00:43:36One leg must stay on the deck.
00:43:38One leg on the floor.
00:43:45Atlas coming back.
00:43:54Vinny's coming back on Tony.
00:44:07Now it's endurance.
00:44:09We'll see who's got it now.
00:44:12Vinny Vegas getting him down.
00:44:14He got him.
00:44:19Vinny Vegas wins it left-handed.
00:44:28Vinny, my man.
00:44:30You should have told me you were left-handed.
00:44:32You proved it tonight.
00:44:34The left hand is powerful.
00:44:36What do you look for now?
00:44:37Hey, I just beat the real competition.
00:44:40Hey, Funky Whiplash,
00:44:42I know you're at home watching.
00:44:44Hey, don't let me have to send my people
00:44:46to come get you, coward.
00:44:48Get on the table with the big man.
00:44:50I'm gonna put you down.
00:44:52This is the strongest arm
00:44:55in WCW body.
00:44:58Whoa.
00:44:59There you got it, Van Hammer.
00:45:01He says he's got the strongest left arm
00:45:03in WCW.
00:45:05He proved it by beating Big Tony Atlas.
00:45:08We'll be back with The Clash
00:45:10right after these messages.
00:45:25Ladies and gentlemen,
00:45:26the following contest
00:45:28on The Clash of the Champions.
00:45:30Tag team action
00:45:32set for one fall.
00:45:34Introducing team number one
00:45:37from Detroit, Michigan,
00:45:40followed by weight,
00:45:426'6",
00:45:45Wade Urie,
00:45:47The Wrecking Crew.
00:45:52The Wrecking Crew
00:45:53making their first appearance
00:45:55on TBS
00:45:56here at The Clash of the Champions.
00:45:58Welcome back, everyone.
00:45:59We're live in Milwaukee at Mecca.
00:46:01Jim Ross and Jesse, the Body Venturer,
00:46:03with you here at ringside.
00:46:05The Wrecking Crew,
00:46:06their names Rage and Fury.
00:46:12And ladies and gentlemen,
00:46:14their opponents,
00:46:15at a total combined weight
00:46:17of 476 pounds.
00:46:20First, from Minneapolis, Minnesota,
00:46:23The Z-Man.
00:46:26And from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
00:46:29Johnny Gunn.
00:46:33Johnny Gunn and The Z-Man
00:46:35to take on this big, powerful combination
00:46:38of The Wrecking Crew.
00:46:40Speed and quickness,
00:46:42one would assume, Jess,
00:46:43of Z-Man and Gunn
00:46:44versus the power and strength
00:46:46of The Wrecking Crew.
00:46:47You'd assume that, Jim Ross,
00:46:48but also you gotta look at it.
00:46:50Z-Man and Gunn,
00:46:51two pretty boys.
00:46:52You know, they get their hair styled.
00:46:54They do the blow dryers
00:46:55and all that stuff
00:46:56before they head to the ring.
00:46:58And you can bet The Wrecking Crew,
00:47:00they're two ugly guys.
00:47:01They're not worried
00:47:02about their haircuts
00:47:03and their hairstyle,
00:47:04so we'll see if the match
00:47:05gets down to nitty gritty.
00:47:07I go with the two ugly guys
00:47:09over the two pretty boys.
00:47:10It's The Z-Man and Rage
00:47:13starting it out here
00:47:15with their team side headlock
00:47:16by The Z-Man
00:47:17as Rage tries to waist lock
00:47:19his way out of the situation.
00:47:26Z-Man holding on
00:47:28tenaciously with a side headlock.
00:47:30Good show of strength
00:47:31there by The Z-Man.
00:47:32Rage went to throw him off
00:47:33into the rope.
00:47:34Z-Man cinched the old
00:47:36side headlock down
00:47:37and he couldn't unhook him
00:47:38from the head.
00:47:40Did it again.
00:47:43Ha!
00:47:44And Rage is saying
00:47:45he pulled my hair.
00:47:46Well, if he did that,
00:47:47he had to do it only right on top
00:47:48because there ain't none
00:47:49on the sides.
00:47:51And that's the truth
00:47:52and The Z-Man never,
00:47:53his hands never separated.
00:47:58Whoa!
00:47:59A lot of strength there
00:48:00and Z-Man able to
00:48:02make a very unique counter
00:48:03from a very precarious position
00:48:05and Z-Man up and over the top.
00:48:07Shows great agility.
00:48:08Put the brakes on.
00:48:09Z-Man up on top here.
00:48:11High cross body.
00:48:12He's got it right there.
00:48:13He hit him,
00:48:14but look at the strength
00:48:15of Rage.
00:48:17Z-Man with a drop kick.
00:48:18Outside goes Rage.
00:48:20In comes Fury.
00:48:21Down and out he goes.
00:48:23Well, I'll tell you what,
00:48:24Z-Man's using the quickness,
00:48:26the speed,
00:48:27and the drop kick
00:48:28all to his advantage.
00:48:30While Rage is in there
00:48:31worrying about the damage
00:48:32he's done and playing
00:48:33a little bit too much
00:48:34to the audience,
00:48:35Z-Man caught him
00:48:36and sends him out.
00:48:37Whoa, look at this shot.
00:48:38Oh, got him in time.
00:48:41What a high risk move there.
00:48:43Johnny Gunn,
00:48:44double clothesline
00:48:45right over the top.
00:48:47Well, Gunn hadn't been
00:48:48in the ring yet
00:48:49and that's one heck of a way
00:48:50to get initiated
00:48:51into the action.
00:48:54Well, we know that
00:48:55Delta loves to fly,
00:48:56but apparently so does
00:48:57Johnny Gunn.
00:49:06And I think Rage is gonna
00:49:07go into a rage
00:49:08if there's any more of that.
00:49:09He's holding the side
00:49:10of his face.
00:49:11He ain't too pleased
00:49:12right now.
00:49:16Z-Man making the tag
00:49:17for the first time
00:49:18with Johnny Gunn.
00:49:19They make the exchange.
00:49:20Gunn using that rope
00:49:22for a little additional leverage,
00:49:23but he just got caught
00:49:24in the face
00:49:25with a tremendous
00:49:26forearm blow.
00:49:28Slows him down
00:49:29and, well,
00:49:30the Wrecking Crew
00:49:34being kept off balance
00:49:35by Z-Man and Gunn.
00:49:36Good deep arm drag
00:49:37takeover by Johnny Gunn.
00:49:39Well, the Wrecking Crew
00:49:40is wrecking themselves
00:49:41right now.
00:49:42Rage blasted Fury
00:49:43with that forearm,
00:49:44but no harm done.
00:49:45Quick tag,
00:49:46but Fury gets caught
00:49:47with a good looking arm drag
00:49:48by Johnny Gunn.
00:49:54Both men back up
00:49:55to the vertical base
00:49:56and it's Fury
00:49:57trying to gain
00:49:58an advantage here.
00:49:59Oh, high.
00:50:00Got him in the face.
00:50:01Perhaps right across
00:50:02the nose
00:50:03with a clothesline.
00:50:05And Johnny Gunn
00:50:06with that pretty face.
00:50:07He must not like that.
00:50:08He ain't gonna like
00:50:09getting no broken nose
00:50:10in there.
00:50:11Backbreaker.
00:50:12Tremendous high impact
00:50:13move to the kidney area.
00:50:14Lower back
00:50:15of Johnny Gunn.
00:50:16Irish grip to the center
00:50:17of the ropes.
00:50:18And Fury
00:50:20set somewhat early.
00:50:21Gunn able to capitalize
00:50:23on that situation
00:50:24and tag in his partner,
00:50:25the Z-Man.
00:50:27Hip lock takeover.
00:50:31Z-Man had a lot of success
00:50:32in the early going
00:50:33in this matchup.
00:50:34Irish grip, far side.
00:50:36And
00:50:37little hesitation there
00:50:38by the Z-Man.
00:50:39Gut wrench
00:50:41into the slam
00:50:42by Fury.
00:50:44Well, Z-Man
00:50:45anticipated Fury
00:50:46to come bounding
00:50:47out of that turnbuckle.
00:50:48Fury held on
00:50:49through Z-Man's timing off
00:50:51and changed the course
00:50:52of this whole matchup.
00:50:54Another power move
00:50:55by Fury
00:50:56of the Wrecking Crew
00:50:57as he drove
00:50:58Z-Man
00:50:59to the canvas
00:51:00with that slam.
00:51:01Front face locks
00:51:02and goes back
00:51:03in the corner
00:51:04and makes the tag.
00:51:05And his partner,
00:51:06Johnny Gunn,
00:51:07a little emotional here.
00:51:08Referee almost got
00:51:09wiped out.
00:51:10Oh, he caught him.
00:51:11Another power move.
00:51:12He caught him
00:51:13with that strength
00:51:14right in midair.
00:51:15Well, the early part
00:51:16of the match,
00:51:17Z-Man
00:51:18was able to
00:51:19make it
00:51:20to the canvas
00:51:21by Fury.
00:51:22Well, the early part
00:51:23of the match,
00:51:24Z-Man and Gunn
00:51:25had it going their way.
00:51:26But now,
00:51:27it's Wrecking Crew.
00:51:28They're using the strength,
00:51:29they're using the rough tactics,
00:51:30and they're wearing
00:51:31the two pretty boys down.
00:51:33The focus, obviously,
00:51:34is the lower back.
00:51:35A couple of Irish whips,
00:51:36but this one
00:51:37is reversed.
00:51:38And Z-Man,
00:51:39obviously,
00:51:40in a
00:51:41dazed state,
00:51:42but he caught him!
00:51:45Z-Man instinctively
00:51:46got that kick.
00:51:48He saw the man
00:51:49coming off
00:51:50out of the turnbuckle

01:04:59A Pepsi!
01:05:00...to the World Tag Team Champions,
01:05:09...</p><p Begin="00:"000aff?"
01:05:09a 60 minute time limit, as you said, it is half of that, a 30 minute limit.
01:05:14Stunning Steve Austin starting out very aggressively and very, very quickly here.
01:05:19Gaining the advantage on Ricky Steamboat, Irishman at far side.
01:05:22Steamboat front face lock and an inside cradle on two and a half.
01:05:25Steamboat got close there, single leg pick up.
01:05:28Steamboat going for the cover, one, two.
01:05:31Well, those are very exciting moves by Steamboat over the top right here.
01:05:34Austin down again a third time.
01:05:37Well, catches him with a crossbody.
01:05:38He hit the crossbody, and Flying Brian came in to interrupt the count.
01:05:42There's Shane Douglas in there as well.
01:05:45All four men now in there fighting.
01:05:48And I'll tell you what.
01:05:50Pivot outside.
01:05:51What a drop kick by Douglas.
01:05:52Steamboat chomps Austin down to size and outside on the floor.
01:05:57I'll tell you what, Jim, with quick action like this,
01:06:00maybe we ought to go 30 minute time limits more often.
01:06:03You may have a good point right there.
01:06:05Man, this is like the no huddle offense.
01:06:08They're getting it on.
01:06:09That's right.
01:06:11Look at Flying Brian checking the head of Stunning Steve.
01:06:19Steamboat out here yelling at me.
01:06:20I don't know what he's screaming at me for.
01:06:22I've been retired for six years.
01:06:28And now Stunning Steve Austin extending his hand in alleged sportsmanship.
01:06:34And Steamboat not gonna fall for that.
01:06:36Austin came in with a kick.
01:06:37That was very unsportsmanlike.
01:06:39A Steamboat, a guy offers you your hand, why wouldn't you take it?
01:06:43Well, I think obviously he doesn't trust him, as Flying Brian hammers.
01:06:48Steamboat in the back, right above us.
01:06:50Knife edge top, with that sickening thud of hand to flesh.
01:06:55It's only sickening if you're on the receiving end of it.
01:07:01Hip hop takeover.
01:07:02Good move by Steamboat.
01:07:03A drop kick on Flying Brian.
01:07:05Whoa, and he walked into Shane Douglas' right hand.
01:07:08Arm drag sinks the arm bar in by the Dragon, the champion.
01:07:12Taking control of the match here early.
01:07:14Steamboat has had several partners in his illustrious career.
01:07:21All successful, we should add.
01:07:24Jay Youngblood, Paul Jones, Dustin Rhodes.
01:07:27How can you remember all them names, Ross?
01:07:31I'm dating myself.
01:07:33Shane Douglas right off the top.
01:07:37Nice wrist lock.
01:07:40Shane Douglas from Pittsburgh.
01:07:41I know the living legend, Bruno San Martino,
01:07:44watching this event tonight in the Steel City.
01:07:47Steamboat gets the tag, comes right back over the top.
01:07:50Makes a tag, another quick tag in and out.
01:07:52They're certainly trying to keep Pillman off balance here, Jess.
01:07:55Absolutely, and you can bet Bruno's hoping Shane does a lot
01:08:00better than the Steelers did in the playoffs.
01:08:03Good move there by Steamboat, and look at the quick tags.
01:08:08Right there, with an arm's length of their corner,
01:08:10Steamboat and Douglas executing their offense.
01:08:16Pillman shows great agility, and- He hurt his knee.
01:08:20He twisted his knee on the way to the mat.
01:08:23Pillman injured here.
01:08:25This is very unfortunate, Ross.
01:08:27Yeah, sure it is.
01:08:28Pillman obviously going into the, whoa, and he caught Douglas coming in.
01:08:34Well, I've seen that before.
01:08:36Pillman, with a little centrifuge, but it backfired.
01:08:41He got power slam, the legs hook, and a half, less than a half away.
01:08:45And Pillman quickly makes a tag, dropped to a hole by Douglas, and
01:08:48down goes Austin.
01:08:52Very heady wrestling by Shane Douglas, a young man with a master's degree.
01:08:56Very intelligent athlete, got dropped to a hole by Austin.
01:09:00Floats over front facelock, but not for long, as Douglas counters into the hammer
01:09:04lock, and drives the knee right into the tricep of stunning Steve Austin.
01:09:09And I know he got that master's degree at Rush Limbaugh University,
01:09:13in conservatism.
01:09:18I think Rush Limbaugh's a big WCW fan, as a matter of fact.
01:09:21Please, Ross, don't make me throw up here on the air.
01:09:27Douglas sinking that hammer lock in on Stunning Steve.
01:09:32Pressure there on the elbow and the wrist.
01:09:37Nice move there by Douglas.
01:09:39His hands are locked, Jess.
01:09:41Good positioning here.
01:09:44And he's putting the pressure on.
01:09:46Champions have controlled this bout so far in the early going,
01:09:50over the challengers.
01:09:51The champions, of course, Shane Douglas and the Dragon Ricky Steamboat.
01:09:55Another dropped toe by Shane Douglas, taking his larger opponent off his feet.
01:10:00Austin, the biggest man in the contest at 253, and
01:10:03Douglas makes a tag to Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
01:10:07Steamboat, a consummate professional.
01:10:10Hammer lock into a slam, and that shades of Oli and
01:10:15the late great Gene Anderson, the original Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
01:10:18That was a vintage move there, where they hammer locked the man, and
01:10:21then slammed him right on that arm.
01:10:24And another quick tag.
01:10:25The champions, Douglas and Steamboat, have been much better on their fast tags,
01:10:29in and out, keeping the fresh man in the ring.
01:10:34Nice quick move by Douglas.
01:10:35He got him down.
01:10:36He got two.
01:10:37And that's a long two.
01:10:38And now Austin got the cradle and a handful of tights.
01:10:42Double leg pick up by Douglas.
01:10:43Trying to go to another pinning predicament.
01:10:45And look at the strength of Austin.
01:10:46He bridges up.
01:10:48Great move by Austin.
01:10:49Test of strength here, Jesse.
01:10:51Yeah, we got a leverage move here.
01:10:53Whoa, good move by Douglas.
01:10:55Flips over the top.
01:10:56And he caught it, coming in.
01:10:59Douglas took a chance at pays off.
01:11:01He hooks a near leg, and Flyin' Brian came in with a kick right to the head.
01:11:06I love it.
01:11:07Sneaky Flyin' Brian comes in with the boot and saves his partner.
01:11:13Double team offense by the tag team champions.
01:11:19Good move there.
01:11:21Steamboat and Douglas have great teamwork.
01:11:24Referee's gotta get control of the situation.
01:11:26Look at- Pillman came in.
01:11:31That's getting rough when you're getting covered by your own partner.
01:11:33You gotta kick your own partner off.
01:11:37I mean, Stunning Steve must think everybody's coming at him.
01:11:42Steamboat and Douglas have certainly controlled the pace here.
01:11:45Absolutely.
01:11:46They have made Austin and Pillman wrestle at the champion's pace.
01:11:52Stick right hand there, and
01:11:53you notice how Austin's trying to inch his way over to his half of the ring.
01:11:59And he did it.
01:12:00Good teamwork there.
01:12:02Suplex.
01:12:04Austin with a suplex, driving Steamboat into the canvas.
01:12:07And Austin able now to make the tag.
01:12:09The Flyin' Brian Pillman, the former Cincinnati Bingle now.
01:12:13A fresh Brian Pillman.
01:12:14Good point, exactly right.
01:12:17Irish whip, and then he scooped up Steamboat.
01:12:21Heart slam, lateral press, and a two count.
01:12:25A little love tap out there on that, and look at this sucker move.
01:12:28Sucker move.
01:12:29He brings Shane Douglas into the ring, and then fires the dragon out.
01:12:32Over the top rope, only the fans and we see it.
01:12:36Referee has no idea what happened.
01:12:38And it really wasn't a very intelligent move.
01:12:40If he had been caught, he would have been disqualified.
01:12:42And look outside, Austin taking advantage.
01:12:44Steamboat was thrilled on this concrete floor.
01:12:47You know though, Ross, sometimes you gotta take those chances.
01:12:51You gotta take chances to win titles.
01:12:53And apparently, that's what Pillman and Austin feel they must do.
01:12:56Distract the referee, and I'll tell you,
01:12:58Shane Douglas is playing right into their hand right now.
01:13:02Douglas got very emotional, and Ref goes along with being so youthful.
01:13:11Pillman hammering that forearm blow.
01:13:14Steamboat really in a bad way here on the apron.
01:13:19Ricky the Dragon Steamboat counters that martial arts.
01:13:23Hey, he's gonna, thought he was gonna suplex him outside.
01:13:29Austin got that kick in to interrupt the move.
01:13:32And it's Pillman suplexing Steamboat.
01:13:36Could be new champions.
01:13:37A pair of lateral press, and you saw the two count.
01:13:40Again, Pillman with those lateral presses.
01:13:44That's taking a great deal of strength from Steamboat,
01:13:47having to do all he can to prevent the pin.
01:13:50Tag made.
01:13:51And now the challengers seem to have hit their offensive stride.
01:13:55They have built a lead here momentum-wise.
01:13:59Well, obviously, the champions had the early going, tagging in and out,
01:14:02making quick tags, cutting off the ring to their advantage.
01:14:05But now here in the latter part of the bout, it's been Austin and
01:14:08Pillman cutting the ring off on Steamboat.
01:14:11And Steamboat getting caught in the wrong corner.
01:14:12Pillman raked the eyes.
01:14:17Topped him down there with that martial arts right to the chest.
01:14:24Handful of hair driving Steamboat's face into the canvas, and then rubbing it.
01:14:28Boy, you talk about mat burns.
01:14:30Giving him a few burns on the old eyelids right there.
01:14:33Torque, another top.
01:14:41And here are those here at Mecca, Milwaukee.
01:14:44There's a pinning for Dickerman, Steamboat got him down.
01:14:48Austin had the referee detained there momentarily.
01:14:51I'll tell you, you gotta give credit.
01:14:52Pillman and Austin are using the referee much better than the champions.
01:14:57Yeah, they're trying to manipulate him every opportunity they can.
01:15:00And it's working.
01:15:00To gain an unfair advantage.
01:15:01And it's working.
01:15:02Look at that.
01:15:04Now here comes Douglas.
01:15:06He's gonna come get suckered back into the ring.
01:15:08Another cheap shot by Austin.
01:15:10Sucker Shane into the ring, and now they'll do their damage.
01:15:13Steamboat got so much resiliency, fighting back with all he's got.
01:15:21He nails, Pillman.
01:15:22He nailed Pillman, and Pillman was driven to the steel.
01:15:25Great suplex.
01:15:29Austin hit the valid back suplex, and Steamboat folded up like an accordion.
01:15:35Austin trying to get the cover, hooks the leg, but
01:15:39Steamboat, Austin didn't have enough weight perhaps forward, Jeff.
01:15:43Well, both men are pretty exhausted in there right now.
01:15:45You're not gonna see any classic covers at this point.
01:15:48It's gonna be cover the man any way you can.
01:15:51Both teams have wrestled a very intense pace in this Unified Championship event.
01:15:57And there's the body vice up there.
01:15:58He's putting it on, reverse backbreaker.
01:16:02And Austin with enough strength, whoa, Steamboat kicks off the top rope.
01:16:07Tries to back body drop Stunning Steve, but there ain't enough there.
01:16:13Back up the top again.
01:16:14Submission maneuver by Stunning Steve Austin has his hands locked.
01:16:20And if he could keep Steamboat in the center of that ring,
01:16:23there's nowhere to go.
01:16:24Pillman made the tag.
01:16:28Steamboat dropped out of sight.
01:16:33And Pillman, with a high impact clothesline, hit his own partner inadvertently.
01:16:41Steamboat on top, martial arts blow.
01:16:46Steamboat really reaching down.
01:16:49Douglas is well rested and ready to accept the tag.
01:16:55Steamboat reaching for the corner, wants to make the tag.
01:16:58He didn't make it.
01:16:59Steamboat, waist lock into the suplex.
01:17:05Both men are down, both men are down.
01:17:08And the referee now will utilize his ten count.
01:17:13And this, of course, has advantage for the champions.
01:17:15Because if both men are counted out, the champions retain the title.
01:17:21You gotta beat the champs.
01:17:23That's the problem you face is being a challenger.
01:17:26Steamboat tags in Douglas.
01:17:30Douglas with right hands.
01:17:33Down goes Pillman, down goes Austin.
01:17:36He scoops him up.
01:17:39Douglas is really cooking here.
01:17:40Drop kick, caught him in the face.
01:17:42Down goes Austin again.
01:17:44Clothesline.
01:17:45Pillman almost taken out of his boots.
01:17:48And the legal man again is Flying Brian Pillman and Shane Douglas.
01:17:53Irish whip, Pillman to the ropes.
01:17:57Belly to belly, he's got him, the belly to belly.
01:18:00Austin came off the top.
01:18:02Austin's putting him on top.
01:18:05Clotheslining Steamboat.
01:18:10Pillman has-
01:18:11Count, referee, count.
01:18:12One, two champions, no, no.
01:18:16A half away, I thought he had it.
01:18:19Steamboat now and Austin fighting right here by him.
01:18:24Look out, Jimbo, you're gonna take one in the head.
01:18:27Douglas rolling up Pillman.
01:18:33He's got him pinned.
01:18:34Austin's got the bell.
01:18:36He hit him in the head with the bell.
01:18:37The referee saw it.
01:18:39He's calling for the bell.
01:18:40And a disqualification, I'm sure.
01:18:43Austin, both DDT'd.
01:18:48Douglas has, he's been busted open.
01:18:51Douglas is bleeding.
01:18:52He was hit right in the face with that championship belt.
01:18:55Douglas has been busted open from that belt, hit him right in the face.
01:19:01I'll tell you what, Ross, the challengers may not, whoa.
01:19:05They may have lost the battle, but they're winning the war.
01:19:09My God, they're beating him up with those belts.
01:19:13Steamboat's trying to protect his partner.
01:19:15And now he's getting, no, no, no.
01:19:17That's Brad Armstrong, Austin and Steamboat.
01:19:24This kid's hurt, we gotta, they're taking the belts, we gotta take a break.
01:19:29We'll be right back.
01:19:30It was a few weeks ago in Baltimore,
01:19:35Maryland, that the then champion,
01:19:41Ron Simmons, stepped into the ring to face the number one challenger.
01:19:48Let's go now and see exactly what happened in that championship bout.
01:19:5330th in Baltimore, Maryland,
01:19:56wrestling's most powerful competitor regained
01:20:00the WCW World's Heavyweight title for an earth-shaking second time.
01:20:06Big Van Vader capitalized on Ron Simmons' shoulder injury to defeat
01:20:10the former Florida State University football All-American.
01:20:13By winning, Vader avenged a world title loss to Simmons on August 2nd,
01:20:171992 in the same Baltimore arena.
01:20:20Here are the closing moments of the 450 pounder's second WCW World Title victory.
01:20:25Now Ron Simmons, Ron's running to Vader, picks him up.
01:20:32Shoulder breaker, shoulder breaker, one, two, it's over.
01:20:38Vader and Simmons, who will be on opposing teams in tonight's
01:20:43Thundercage main event, have signed to meet in a return bout for
01:20:47the WCW World's Heavyweight title in the very near future.
01:20:51This rematch promises to be a tremendous contest for
01:20:55superiority in the WCW wrestling world.
01:20:58It is with great pleasure I give to you the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion,
01:21:05Big Van Vader, and his manager, seven time champion, Handsome Harley Rager.
01:21:11No pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:16Vader's dying, Vader's dying.
01:21:21No pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:26Vader's dying, Vader's dying, no pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:31No pain, no pain, no pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:36No pain, no pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:41No pain, no pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:46No pain, no pain, no pain, no pain, yeah.
01:21:50Well, Harley, for the second time, Big Van Vader's did it, and I'll tell you what,
01:21:55I gotta give you a lot of the credit.
01:21:57You knew that Ron Simmons had a hurt shoulder.
01:22:00You knew it, you did your homework, and you went after it.
01:22:03Let me tell you something, Jesse.
01:22:05This man right here is the greatest athlete on the face of God's green earth,
01:22:11and all he needed was a little counseling toward what he had in mind.
01:22:17He is and is going to be the longest reigning
01:22:22World Heavyweight Champion in the history of wrestling right here.
01:22:29Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
01:22:35Wait a minute.
01:22:38Wait a minute.
01:22:45Ron Simmons, this ain't your interview.
01:22:48Let me tell you something, Harley, ladies, and this goes for you.
01:22:51Ron Simmons ain't never made no excuses for nothing, and let's get this.
01:22:55The very next time you let your guard down, I'll have you back on your back again.
01:23:01Good time.
01:23:04Oh, Rey's trying to sacrifice him.
01:23:08Oh, a fight's broken out here.
01:23:10Ron Simmons hammering Big Van Vader back to the corner.
01:23:14He knocks down the World Heavyweight Champion.
01:23:20And final slam.
01:23:23Oh, what a collision.
01:23:28Ron Simmons standing tall in the square circle.
01:23:37Hey, Ross, I gotta tell you something.
01:23:39Ron Simmons had no business coming out.
01:23:41That's my interview.
01:23:42What's he doing to Harley Race?
01:23:44He's beating the hell out of him.
01:23:45That's what he's doing with those right hands.
01:23:49Wait a minute.
01:23:51Vader got it from behind.
01:23:54Vader took it down to the concrete.
01:23:57Vader dropped the big elbow right there.
01:24:00The kidneys in the lower back of Simmons.
01:24:05Snap Bears again to the concrete floor.
01:24:09And Vader to the 450.
01:24:11Right on Simmons.
01:24:13This is me busting apart here.
01:24:18Scoops him up.
01:24:21Vader's got Simmons in a helpless state.
01:24:24A shoulder breaker again to the already injured shoulder of Ron Simmons.
01:24:30He's going after it.
01:24:32I'll tell you what.
01:24:33I think Simmons had it coming.
01:24:36That was failure and he did it again.
01:24:38Oh, no.
01:24:40We've still got the street fight.
01:24:44It's Thundercage yet to come.
01:24:47They're already short one partner.
01:24:49They may be short another one.
01:24:51Fans, we'll be back.
01:24:52Thundercage is next.
01:25:00Ladies and gentlemen, now we prepare for one of the most spectacular,
01:25:07one of the most dangerous events in all of wrestling.
01:25:12The Thundercage Tag Team Spectacular.
01:25:18Come dressed as you are.
01:25:20Street fight rules prevail.
01:25:24Disqualifications will not be allowed.
01:25:28It is for one fall or TV time remaining.
01:25:34As now, we ready the ring for the Tag Team Thundercage feature presentation.
01:25:46Well, Jesse, this situation has certainly taken some unique turns
01:25:50in the last couple of hours.
01:25:52We heard that Van Hammer injured back in Atlanta.
01:25:56Convalescing.
01:25:58Grace and company got rid of the barbarian and make it three on three.
01:26:02But we've also been informed.
01:26:04It is obviously very, very doubtful if Ron Simmons will be able to compete
01:26:09in this contest.
01:26:10If that is the case, it will be Vader Windham and Orndorff
01:26:14against Singh and Dustin Rhodes.
01:26:16Only time will tell.
01:26:17We're moments away from the introduction.
01:26:19Let's go back to Gary Confetto.
01:26:21Ladies and gentlemen, now introducing the participants in Thundercage.
01:26:31Team number one, accompanied by seven-time former
01:26:35World Heavyweight Champion Harleen Grace.
01:26:40First, from the Rocky Mountains, weighing 450 pounds,
01:26:46the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Big Bad Vader.
01:26:56From Sweetwater, Texas, 278 pounds,
01:27:01from Tampa, Florida, 250 pounds,
01:27:09Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff.
01:27:18Well, it will be those three, Vader Windham and Orndorff.
01:27:25Harleen Grace will be on the outside.
01:27:28It would seem.
01:27:29Back to Gary, who's coming out for Singh and his team.
01:27:33And ladies and gentlemen, their opponent in Thundercage.
01:27:39From Austin, Texas, 261 pounds, the Mitchell Dustin Rhodes.
01:27:47And from Venice Beach, California, 251 pounds, Singh.
01:27:56So it will be two men versus three.
01:27:59Remember, though, there are still tag team rules in effect.
01:28:04But a distinct advantage on Windham and Rhodes.
01:28:07Not wasting any time.
01:28:08Orndorff and Singh hooking it up at Thundercage.
01:28:12No disqualification.
01:28:13It's a street fight.
01:28:14It's underway.
01:28:17And so far, the referee not doing much at all.
01:28:19Vader's on the outside, but we got four guys on the inside.
01:28:24The cage has been locked.
01:28:28And now we're getting down to tag team,
01:28:30and it looks like Dustin Rhodes, The Natural, and Big Barry Windham.
01:28:35Fans are running a little short on time here.
01:28:38You never know how long a match of this magnitude will last.
01:28:42I'll assure you, if we don't have time to show you tonight,
01:28:45we'll bring you everything that happens this Saturday night on WCW Saturday night.
01:28:50Well, I'll tell you what, Ross.
01:28:51Generally, as a rule, cage matches do not last that long.
01:28:55Because at some point, it's gonna go out to the floor,
01:28:58and the cage will become involved in the matchup.
01:29:00There's nowhere to run.
01:29:02Rhodes and Windham.
01:29:05Oh, what a rivalry between these two.
01:29:08Dustin Rhodes, those right hands.
01:29:10Back to the head of Barry Windham.
01:29:12They were former partners.
01:29:13Boom, close eye.
01:29:15Down goes Windham.
01:29:16What a move by Rhodes.
01:29:18Former World Tag Team Champions,
01:29:20and Rhodes has got that cast off his left wrist.
01:29:26Tag made, Sting.
01:29:27Windham don't know it either.
01:29:29He don't know the tag's been made.
01:29:33Stinger in, and taking Windham straight down.
01:29:36He drove him face first right into the canvas.
01:29:40Well, you know, Sting and Dustin Rhodes are gonna have to be-
01:29:43Whoa, big press body slam.
01:29:45They're gonna have to be smart in this matchup,
01:29:47because they're outnumbered three against two.
01:29:51And there is Big Ben Bader,
01:29:53who has invited Sting to join him at the White Castle of Fear.
01:29:58And we are certainly-
01:30:00That's a mysterious situation.
01:30:02I have no idea what the White Castle of Fear is.
01:30:05We hope to know more about that this weekend on television.
01:30:09Colin Elbow tie-up, the heavyweight champion of the world,
01:30:12and a man that has had more success against Vader
01:30:15than any other athlete competing today.
01:30:18Oh, yeah, and that's the Stinger.
01:30:19And you know, I'll tell you what,
01:30:21the disadvantage here is with the champion, Ben Vader.
01:30:24You know why, Ross?
01:30:25Why's that?
01:30:26Because if he gets injured, he can lose the title.
01:30:29Sting and Rhodes got nothing to lose.
01:30:31Vader's got his title to lose in a match like this because of injury.
01:30:34Yeah, they've got their health they can lose.
01:30:36Busted bones.
01:30:40Boy, Vader in those tremendous, loving blows.
01:30:44And Sting with the right hand in.
01:30:47Another right hand by the Stinger.
01:30:50Straight right.
01:30:51Vader is staggered.
01:30:53A staggered again.
01:30:55Staggered but not down.
01:30:57Oh, Sting got him out.
01:30:59Inverted atomic drop.
01:31:02And still not down.
01:31:04These two last met.
01:31:05DDT.
01:31:07That's Sting in the King of Cable Finals.
01:31:09That's Sting won.
01:31:11The boy took a battering before he finally pulled out the victory.
01:31:14He's got Vader back in that corner.
01:31:16Sting, right hand.
01:31:18He's got Vader in that corner,
01:31:19much like Vader had him, Jess, in Atlanta's Starrcage.
01:31:23Well, Vader, the champion, not faring too well out there.
01:31:26Stinger looking real good.
01:31:28Oh, the Stinger splash in the corner.
01:31:30And Vader hooked the rope or he'd be flat on his face.
01:31:34Sting with a thunderous right hand.
01:31:36Right to the jaw of the heavyweight champion of the world.
01:31:39And the 450-pound monster is in trouble.
01:31:42And Sting is treating Vader just like Vader manhandled him.
01:31:46Back on December 28th at Starrcage.
01:31:49He's literally pounding the champion right down into the mat.
01:31:56I have never seen Vader manhandled like this.
01:32:01Sting nailing Wendell.
01:32:02Here comes Orndorff.
01:32:04Right hand and down goes Mr. Wonderful.
01:32:12Irish whip.
01:32:13Sting takes Vader in.
01:32:14Vader head first, landed on his feet.
01:32:17Oh, a costume coming in.
01:32:20My, what agility.
01:32:23From the heavyweight champion of 450 pounds.
01:32:27And he's going up to the top.
01:32:28Look at this.
01:32:31Vader.
01:32:32Oh, he got it all.
01:32:34Clothesline from the top rope.
01:32:40That defies logic.
01:32:41A 450-pound man is not supposed to be able to stand on a top rope like that.
01:32:47But Van Vader can.
01:32:48And he's going up again.
01:32:52This time on the second rope.
01:32:56Bust him up.
01:32:57He hits his ass.
01:32:59Sting moves.
01:33:02Kick to the face.
01:33:07Sting takes him over.
01:33:09Vader right into the steel.
01:33:13Orndorff fell in a back suplex.
01:33:16Orndorff in a suplex to Sting.
01:33:19Illegally now he's pulling him near his corner.
01:33:23And that's the advantage I have of three of them.
01:33:24Now look at Windham.
01:33:26See they got the ref tied up and Windham's gonna do some damage.
01:33:28And Windham.
01:33:30Snapping Sting's knee right across the apron of the ring.
01:33:34Vader tags in Orndorff.
01:33:35And Orndorff comes in with a vengeance.
01:33:40Mr. Wonderful.
01:33:42He is intense as any athlete you'll ever see.
01:33:44The former running back from the University of Tampa.
01:33:47With that thick foot right to the face or the neck of Sting.
01:33:50Stomping down.
01:33:51Holding him down.
01:33:52And look how he's grabbing the second rope for added leverage.
01:33:56Mr. Wonderful working Sting over.
01:33:58And here's where the three on two advantage is gonna play so good.
01:34:04Orndorff caught him with a clothesline.
01:34:06Drives the elbow right to his face.
01:34:09Sting in Rhodes.
01:34:10Two men versus three.
01:34:12And what was originally scheduled to be an eight man tag team event.
01:34:20Orndorff the elbow to the abdomen.
01:34:23Legal blow.
01:34:24Well even if it had been below the belt.
01:34:26Don't matter here.
01:34:28There's three fight rules.
01:34:29There's no disqualification.
01:34:30The referee is only here to count the pinfall.
01:34:33Or to ring the bell for a submission.
01:34:35And Sting is being punished.
01:34:36Windham right off the top.
01:34:37The 6'6", 280 pounder.
01:34:39Hammers Sting.
01:34:40And hits to the right hand.
01:34:41And down goes the Stinger.
01:34:50Windham front facing Sting.
01:34:52Windham front face lock.
01:34:55And takes him up and over in a suplex.
01:34:57Floats over.
01:34:58Could be all here too.
01:34:59And that's it.
01:35:00Sting at the shoulder up.
01:35:02Boy he is really being punished.
01:35:05Right hand by Rhodes.
01:35:06Here comes Windham.
01:35:07Or excuse me.
01:35:08Here comes Rhodes.
01:35:09I'm sorry.
01:35:11The action is a little furious.
01:35:13For us even to call here.
01:35:15And you see how the extra man comes into play.
01:35:18You know Rhodes wants to chase Windham around.
01:35:20He runs into Vader.
01:35:21And Vader nails him.
01:35:23Sting still in trouble in the ring.
01:35:25He's the legal man.
01:35:28Windham wrecking Sting's face right across the top table here.
01:35:34Big bend.
01:35:35Vader tagged back in.
01:35:37And a hard uppercut right to the ribs.
01:35:41Sting whipped to the far side.
01:35:42And Vader engulfs him.
01:35:44450.
01:35:46Sting was.
01:35:47He disappeared.
01:35:49Vader so huge.
01:35:52And then immediately went back to the rope.
01:35:54Came off and hit him with a forearm.
01:35:56I'll tell you what.
01:35:57My opinion.
01:35:58This match is just about over I think.
01:36:01Unless Sting can tag pretty quick.
01:36:03They're going to keep triple teaming him.
01:36:05Look at the power of Vader here.
01:36:06Press slam.
01:36:07What's he going to do with it?
01:36:09Sting at just over 250 pounds.
01:36:11And look at big man Vader.
01:36:13He threw him up in the air and hit him on the way down.
01:36:16That's kind of like insult to injury, Ross.
01:36:18Tag made.
01:36:19Here comes Windham.
01:36:21Man, they are taking their liberties now with WCW's most popular athlete, Windham.
01:36:28Sting's just about out of it.
01:36:30Windham sets him on the top turnbuckle up there.
01:36:35Look at that.
01:36:36Sting looks like a dishrag up there.
01:36:38You got it right.
01:36:39He's almost knocked out now.
01:36:41Sting's got to fight back.
01:36:42Instinctively.
01:36:43He buries the right hand.
01:36:44He's in the midsection.
01:36:46He stands Windham straight up.
01:36:47Right hand.
01:36:48Right to the heart.
01:36:49And a straight one to the head.
01:36:50Down goes Windham.
01:36:53Sting has been so battered and so hammered.
01:36:57He can barely.
01:36:58Well, he's not even able to stand right now.
01:37:00Pulling himself up.
01:37:01He's in the tag zone.
01:37:08Dustin Rhodes fighting for his life here.
01:37:11Down goes Orndorff.
01:37:14He whipped Windham.
01:37:15And caught Windham with a lary.
01:37:18He catches Orndorff.
01:37:19Catches Sting.
01:37:22But how long can he beat up all three of them?
01:37:26High elevation.
01:37:27And a back body drop.
01:37:29Rhodes elevates Windham.
01:37:34Boy, if you ever get a chance to see these two one-on-one, it is a war.
01:37:38Just like you're seeing here.
01:37:39Total hatred between these two.
01:37:42Wait a minute.
01:37:43There's Cactus Jack.
01:37:44There's Cactus Jack.
01:37:45What's his purpose here?
01:37:47Cactus Jack's got a bolt.
01:37:49He's got a bolt, Hunter.
01:37:50He's unlocking the cage.
01:37:52Cactus Jack is cutting that lock off the cage.
01:37:57The bizarre New Mexico madman is trying to get in the cage.
01:38:04Orndorff drives a knee into the face of Dustin Rhodes.
01:38:08Windham around.
01:38:10And Cactus Jack nailed Windham.
01:38:14Cactus Jack in there.
01:38:17He's taken off his boot.
01:38:19He's here for revenge.
01:38:23Is it three on three?
01:38:26This ain't fair, though, Ross.
01:38:28He's got an illegal foreign object in there.
01:38:31It's a no disqualification street fight.
01:38:33And brothers, all six of them now are hooking it up.
01:38:37They're catching Rhodes from behind.
01:38:42Cactus thrown outside.
01:38:44Hard on the floor.
01:38:46Windham outside here.
01:38:48Right in front of us.
01:38:53Well, apparently you're right.
01:38:54It's going to go three on three.
01:38:56Because the referee hasn't called nothing.
01:38:58There goes Stinger out to the floor.
01:39:00Courtesy of Orndorff.
01:39:02I presume Orndorff.
01:39:03And Rhodes are legal.
01:39:04I don't know.
01:39:06I guess the ref at this point could count who's ever in the ring now.
01:39:10There's no way of knowing or remembering who's legal.
01:39:15Orndorff.
01:39:17Trying to power drive Rhodes.
01:39:18Got him up.
01:39:20Cactus Jack with one boot on, one boot off.
01:39:22On the top.
01:39:23Right off the top rope with that boot.
01:39:25Cactus covers Orndorff.
01:39:27Hooks the leg.
01:39:29And he's got it.
01:39:30Ladies and gentlemen,
01:39:32the winners, the team of Sting,
01:39:34the natural, Justin Rhodes,
01:39:36and Cactus Jack.
01:39:40Oh, what a turn of events.
