00:00:30Tonight, when World Championship Wrestling presents the Fall Brawl.
00:00:37Brawl.
00:00:38Hello again, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to TBS.
00:01:03You are looking live in the Augusta, Richmond County Civic Center.
00:01:07And this is the Clash of Champions.
00:01:09Hello again, everyone, I'm Jim Ross, along with Tony Schiavone, we'll be at ringside.
00:01:14And we're gonna kick it off with over 5,000 pounds in the ring at one time.
00:01:18It's the Georgia Brawl, plus a big press conference and
00:01:21the contract signing for the Halloween Havoc main event.
00:01:24And Tony, championships will be decided right here tonight on TBS.
00:01:29You're right, Jim, great to be with you once again.
00:01:31Two championships will be decided, the World Television title.
00:01:34Former champion, the Z-Man, against the champion, Sonny Steve Austin.
00:01:37And then, the Kavanaugh Walk, it's for the World Tag Title.
00:01:41It's the finals of the tournament.
00:01:43Can Rick Steiner bring the gold back?
00:01:44He and Bill Kazmaier, the world's strongest man,
00:01:47against the enforcers who are red hot, Larry Zbyszek and Warren Anderson.
00:01:50Every athlete in the world top ten rankings will be competing right here tonight.
00:01:55We've got a tremendous crowd on hand.
00:01:57Ladies and gentlemen, we will also be joined by our colleagues, Eric Bishop,
00:02:03Missy Hyatt, and Paul E Dangerously.
00:02:06They're standing by now.
00:02:07All right, thanks, Jim and Tony.
00:02:09And there is so much going on here at the Clash of Champions.
00:02:12Later on, I'll be at the contract signing where the heavyweight champion of the world,
00:02:16Les Luger and Ron Simmons, come face to face as they sign the contract for
00:02:21their meeting October 27th, Halloween Havoc pay-per-view.
00:02:24And Missy Hyatt, I understand that you've finally got your chance.
00:02:28You're gonna be doing an interview in the locker room with the champion.
00:02:31That's right, I'm going straight to the top to get an interview with
00:02:34the hunk himself, Lex Luger.
00:02:37All right, good luck.
00:02:38And Paul E Dangerously, I know you're a busy man.
00:02:40In addition to several other key interviews,
00:02:42you're going to be talking to the challenger.
00:02:44You see, I have quite a few questions for the man that thinks he can unseat
00:02:49the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Lex Luger, tonight.
00:02:53I speak with the All-American, Ron Simmons.
00:02:57All right, well, it looks to me like we're about ready to get it underway.
00:03:00Let's kick off the Clash of Champions and go to Gary Michael Cappella.
00:03:04Ladies and gentlemen, this first contest on the Clash of Champions,
00:03:11it is the Georgia Brawl, the over-the-top battle royal.
00:03:17Remember to be eliminated.
00:03:19A participant must be thrown over the top rope and land on the floor.
00:03:23The last remaining man in the ring will be declared the winner.
00:03:28Introducing the first participant, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 249 pounds,
00:03:34the Z-Man.
00:03:37Representing the York Foundation from Atlanta, Georgia, 218 pounds,
00:03:43Thomas Rich from Huntsville, Alabama, 233 pounds, beautiful Bobby from Curry,
00:03:55Georgia, 231 pounds, Ranger Ross from Wyoming, Young Pistol, Tracy.
00:04:11And ladies and gentlemen, he is from the Emerald City.
00:04:17He stands seven feet, weighs 325 pounds,
00:04:23the Incredible Eyes.
00:04:33The next participant in the Georgia Brawl from Motown,
00:04:38weighing 403 pounds, the rep master, P.N.
00:04:46Moves.
00:04:52Continuing the list of entrants from the State Patrol, Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker.
00:05:10Ladies and gentlemen, the next entrant is accompanied by Lady Blossom
00:05:15from Hollywood, California, weighing 258 pounds,
00:05:20the WCW World Television Champion, Stunning Steve Austin.
00:05:28From Austin, Texas, weighing 261 pounds, the natural, Dustin Wu.
00:05:35Representing the York Foundation from Vero Beach, Florida,
00:05:46weighing 239 pounds, the computerized man of the 1990s, Terrence Taylor.
00:05:59The next participant in the Georgia Brawl from the Northwoods,
00:06:05weighing 275 pounds, Big Josh.
00:06:18And ladies and gentlemen, from Sweetwater, Texas,
00:06:22weighing 278 pounds, Barry Wendell.
00:06:28Next in the roll of superstars from Halstead Street, Chicago, Illinois,
00:06:35weighing 412 pounds, the one man king.
00:06:48And ladies and gentlemen, the final entrant in the Georgia Brawl
00:06:54from Argentina, he stands seven feet, seven inches,
00:06:58weighs 454 pounds, the largest athlete in the world, El Picante.
00:07:06And they have started the Georgia Brawl here at the Clash of Champions.
00:07:11Over the top rope, all the way to the floor to be eliminated.
00:07:15Pin falls without counting this one.
00:07:17It'll be friend against friend, enemy against enemy.
00:07:21Interesting situation here, Jim, because the Z-Man and
00:07:25Stunning Steve Austin are both in this Georgia Brawl.
00:07:29You know, we've seen battle royals before at the end of the night.
00:07:33These two guys are jeopardizing getting injured.
00:07:35There you see the TV champ before the title match even happens.
00:07:40I can tell you from years of experience, it's extremely difficult.
00:07:44Some big human beings, well over two tons of WCW wrestlers
00:07:50are in the ring right now.
00:07:52Two types of strategy they like to employ right here.
00:07:57Number one is to stay in the center of the ring.
00:07:59If you stay in the center of the ring, you're going to get
00:08:01into a big fight and you're going to lose.
00:08:03So if you stay in the center of the ring, you're going to get
00:08:05in a fight.
00:08:06Now, you're going to have to fight the best you can.
00:08:08And when you do, you're going to be the best you can be.
00:08:11center of the ring. If you stay in the center of the ring, odds are you're not going to get thrown
00:08:14out that quickly. Number two is maybe to stay away from some people to hit in a run.
00:08:20Elegante has Taylor out. I want to remind the fans of the wrestling hotline that you can call
00:08:27right now and talk live to Flyin' Brian, who will be back in action here tonight at a light
00:08:35heavyweight semifinal event. Call now on the wrestling hotline as Lady Blossom cheers on
00:08:41Stunning Steve. Usually the big guys have the advantage. It's hard to get them up over the top.
00:08:49Look at the one man gang go at it with Yo Baby Yo, the Rap Master. These two guys will be very
00:08:55difficult to eliminate as well as Elegante. Well, the one man gang and PN News have developed quite
00:09:00a rivalry in the last few weeks, both claiming that their version of the Big Splash is the better.
00:09:07Elegante has Sgt. Parker on the top rope here. He goes off this way. Well, luckily for him,
00:09:14he came back into the ring, not out on the floor. Great shot overhead and action all over the
00:09:21square and circle at this time. Stunning Steve, the television champion, trying to hold on.
00:09:28As Tony mentioned, several forms of strategy can be applied. I've been quite honest. Good luck has
00:09:41a lot to do with this. You're exactly right. See, Barry Wyndham right now has Stunning Steve
00:09:46Austin in a very tight situation, but when he has his back turn of the action, he has a chance to be
00:09:51taken out also from behind. It's a very difficult situation to be in. We've got three 400 pounders
00:10:00in there. I'm glad they reinforced the ring. Elegante, one man gang and PN News all over the
00:10:10400 pound mark. One man gang has been fighting a very smart match so far. He has not been near
00:10:22the ropes that much. He's standing in the ring. He's wearing red. He's very easy to spot. He has
00:10:27been standing in the center. Very rarely will he go to the corners or to the ropes.
00:10:36Dustin Rhodes nailing Sergeant Parker. There you see Oz then taking care of Dustin from behind.
00:10:45Uniformed Bobby came over the top, but they landed on the apron. He and Stunning Steve,
00:10:50you've got to go all the way to the floor to be eliminated.
00:10:53You know what's another thing that's interesting about a battle royal is the fact
00:10:57that it's every man for himself. Sure, but many times early on, they will choose sides
00:11:02until it gets down near the end, and then it's really every man for himself.
00:11:09PN News trying to get Thomas Rich of the York Foundation over. There's that
00:11:15new hairstyle of one man gang. That hairstyle thanks to, of course, Elegante.
00:11:27There's no money for second place here. Just like the Braves have discovered,
00:11:31there's no glory in being number two. They'll start a new series with a match tomorrow night.
00:11:40Big Josh over, but he held on to the top rope, and Terence Taylor almost over, and he's out.
00:11:47All three of them. A trifecta. Ranger Ross, Big Josh, and Terence Taylor can all return to the
00:11:54locker room. Ladies and gentlemen, eliminated Terence Taylor, Big Josh, and Ranger Ross.
00:12:04Terence Taylor has a match still to come later on here in the Clash of Champions,
00:12:08so that's not that bad of a break for him. Watch out, somebody else is out over here.
00:12:11It's Thomas Rich. Thomas Rich getting the thumb. He's out of here.
00:12:15Thomas Rich has been eliminated from the Georgia Brawl.
00:12:18So has Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker. He can return to the squad room, and they got
00:12:26one man gang in a tough spot in a corner, and every man in between is getting punished.
00:12:34The Z-Man and Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker eliminated.
00:12:37Z-Man took a tumble on the outside and hit the ramp. Did not go to the floor,
00:12:42but that counts just like the floor on the outside, so he's out also.
00:12:45Once again, we got the biggest man still in there, Jim, with the most weight.
00:12:49Nine men remaining, and as Tony mentioned, the three 400-pounders in there, and there you see
00:12:55Oz, Nelly P. and News. Oz is seven feet, but he's a mere 320. And Tracy of the Young Pistols
00:13:07can call it a night. Tracy of the Young Pistols eliminated.
00:13:10Eight of them left, and the two smallest one are Beautiful Bobby and Stunning Steve Austin,
00:13:17and they're big men, but give them a lot of credit. Wrestling ability really applies here
00:13:21a lot of times, too, and these are two classic wrestlers.
00:13:24Beautiful Bobby, 237, the number 10 contender in WCW. Austin, 258, rank number five. As we
00:13:32mentioned at the top of the broadcast, this live telecast will feature every top 10 wrestler
00:13:38in the WCW top 10 rankings. Many of them in the ring, as a matter of fact, right now.
00:13:44Beautiful Bobby really fighting a smart match right now. He's right in the center of the ring.
00:13:49He is waiting for someone to come to him, and Barry Windham is there. Now,
00:13:52we start to get every man for himself. Dustin there with Oz. Awesome. Waistlock took him back
00:14:00to the center of the ring, and the gang has been in the center of the ring, as Tony pointed out,
00:14:04for the bulk of the contest.
00:14:11Oh, Beautiful Bobby went all the way over the top rope. What a-
00:14:16Beautiful Bobby eliminated.
00:14:19Almost in the lap of our cameraman. Beautiful Bobby over the top, all the way to the ramp.
00:14:25Seven men remain in the Georgia Brawl. Oh, P.E. News went out.
00:14:30The rep master, P.E. News, eliminated.
00:14:34403 and a half just went sailing on the top rope, and Barry Windham and Stunning Steve
00:14:40have eliminated each other.
00:14:41Barry Windham, Stunning Steve, Austin eliminated from the Georgia Brawl.
00:14:46And Lenny Blossom grabbing a double hand full of hair, and Windham just nailed Austin.
00:14:50Oh, my, they're fighting right out here, Elias. Four men remain in the ring.
00:15:00Barry Windham's a fighter, there's no question. He's still going on on the outside,
00:15:04but you're right, in the ring, Dustin Rhodes, he certainly is the youngest of the competitors.
00:15:09And, of course, we don't talk much about the age of El Agante. He's a young man,
00:15:13and he's in there also.
00:15:15El Agante, five years on the Argentine National Basketball Team,
00:15:20drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. Now a driving force in WCW.
00:15:30Dustin Rhodes in a lot of trouble after being double teamed by the 320 pound Oz and the 420
00:15:37pound one man gang, and it has planted Dustin in the corner. El Agante's eyes have been gouged.
00:15:44He's temporarily blinded here. Now the big man fights back up. He's hitting anything that moves,
00:15:52but still the advantage has to be for Oz and the one man gang because they're working as a team
00:15:56right now. El Agante with that claw, but from behind is the awesome one man gang.
00:16:03Four men there. The final four, if you will.
00:16:21Unique perspective looking down at the center of the ring. Once again, you get communication
00:16:26with Oz and the one man gang. They have a game plan right here now. They want to take Dustin
00:16:29out and then work on El Agante, and they did. They double teamed Dustin Rhodes and both of them
00:16:36over the top. Dustin Rhodes has been eliminated.
00:16:42And El Agante with a double clothesline. Over the top they go, and the biggest athlete in the
00:16:48world has won it. Both Oz and the one man gang eliminated the winner of the Georgia Brawl,
00:16:55El Agante. Coming up next, our first semi-final event in the WCW light
00:17:04heavyweight tournament. We'll be back with a Clash of Champions after this timeout.
00:17:11Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest on the Clash of Champions is the first
00:17:26semi-final bout in the WCW light heavyweight title tournament. Introducing first, he is accompanied
00:17:34by the fabulous Freebirds from Badstreet USA in Atlanta, Georgia, weighing 229 pounds, Badstreet.
00:17:48What an entourage escorting Badstreet out here for this semi-final
00:17:53event in the WCW light heavyweight championship tournament.
00:18:04Preparing to see Flyin' Brian for the first time in a long time. Thanks to you great fans
00:18:12and your cards and letters. And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent from Cincinnati, Ohio,
00:18:19weighing 227 pounds. Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling, Flyin' Brian.
00:18:29What a matchup this should be. It should be very fast-paced, very offensive-minded.
00:18:37Hayes and Garvin, I'm sure, will be more than willing, Tony, to give Badstreet more than just
00:18:42a little motivation. I don't think there's any question they're going to be very instrumental
00:18:46in this match now. Randy Anderson needs to take, yep, he needs to take the bull by the horn,
00:18:50so to speak, and make some decision here. He may pull a John McSherry or a Harry Wendelstad here
00:19:01and give him the thumb. They're going to be taking on the Patriots a little bit later in the broadcast,
00:19:07and it looks like referee Randy, don't call me Pee-wee Anderson, is going to keep this match
00:19:13one-on-one. We applaud him for that decision. Interesting situation here. Flyin' Brian's
00:19:18reinstatement came after the tournament began in World Championship Wrestling. However, he talked
00:19:23to the board of directors, got reinstated, and got a first-round buy in the tournament,
00:19:28and won one match, and here he is. Of course, the finals of this event will be held on October 27th
00:19:36exclusively on pay-per-view at Halloween Havoc. Our second semifinal event will be a little bit
00:19:43later here on this live broadcast, so we will know before we go off the air, obviously,
00:19:49who the final two men will be in the WCW light heavyweight tournament. Good head scissors there
00:19:56by Flyin' Brian. Taking it upstairs. Great aerial assault. He's got him wrapped up. He's going for
00:20:04the cover, and he got two. Boy, that was close, Jim. You talk about fast-paced action. This weight
00:20:10class, 190 to 235, is a great weight class, and we've applauded the decision by the board of
00:20:16directors to develop this weight class. It really gives some youngsters who wouldn't have a chance
00:20:20in the heavyweight division a chance to move up like a Joey Maxx, like a Johnny Rich that were
00:20:25in this tournament did quite well. Arm bar applied by Pillman. Bad straight, forcing him back into the
00:20:31corner. Nails him with his shoulder. Didn't really expect to aim. A clean break there. Flyin' Brian
00:20:40landed on the apron. Comes up with the right hand. Up on the top. Sunset flip. Can he get him? Does
00:20:47he have three? No, he's got two and a half. A dropkick. What a fast pace. All fits in mind
00:20:54of the event we are seeing here, and you are watching it live on TBS.
00:21:01Front facelock by Pillman. Trying to get him up and over. Bad straight trying to counter.
00:21:09Both men back and forth. Oh, my God. Pillman suplexed outside.
00:21:18That is unbelievable. And Randy Anderson looking our way. Interesting rule here, Jim.
00:21:25Since Bad Straight was on the outside anyway, there was no disqualification for throwing Flyin'
00:21:31Brian over the top rope. You have to be legally in the ring to be disqualified for throwing your
00:21:37opponent over the top rope. He was not. Pillman, chest first into the steel, and Bad Straight now
00:21:48has a decided advantage. The key, can he follow up offensively? He's going right at him, which
00:21:54is the right thing to do. May not be the most honorable thing, but it's the right thing because
00:21:58he's going right at Flyin' Brian. This is his trademark. Never say die. What a gutsy youngster.
00:22:05I remember talking to, oh, right there in the back. The second time that the body of Flyin'
00:22:14Brian has met the steel here at the Clash of Champions. His strength coach for the Bengals,
00:22:19Coach Kim Wood said Flyin' Brian was as tough as any athlete that has ever played for the Cincinnati
00:22:26Bengals of the National Football League. And keeping with that form, he's as tough as any
00:22:31athlete we've ever seen in World Championship Wrestling. Crossbody over the top. Can he hook
00:22:36the leg? Couldn't quite get it locked in, but he got two. But Bad Straight's up very, very quickly.
00:22:41Front face lock. He can use a DDT. Doesn't choose to do it this time, instead of neck breaker.
00:22:47Bad Straight wrestles with so much confidence. He's on top, going for it, and got two out of it.
00:22:55As Tony pointed out, ladies and gentlemen, the maximum you can weigh to compete in this division,
00:23:01235 pounds. Great agility for men in this weight category.
00:23:08Kim, front kick. Tony Miller going up the top.
00:23:15Oh, the crowd here loves it.
00:23:19Oh, my gosh. I don't know if he had face first into the steel, but even if he did,
00:23:24it won't stop the Cincinnati kid. He hammers on the back of the neck. That was a high-risk move,
00:23:30Tony, but it paid off. He stuck his hands out. He almost could have knocked himself out of that
00:23:35steel ring. Brian now up top. He'll take another chance. Oh, my. Going for a drop kick.
00:23:44Pillman, he may have been kicked in the quadricep muscle, the thigh muscle. If so,
00:23:50he could be experiencing some cramps or charley horse there. Boy, they're pulling it all out.
00:23:56This is what a championship-type match is all about. Two men giving it their all. Brian
00:24:01Rickles abandoned, sacrificed his body if need be to win a title match.
00:24:07Pillman put on the brakes. That took the masked man face first to the canvas.
00:24:13Spinning karate kick. On top. He may have been one, two, and a half.
00:24:21Jim, there are a lot of showmen in world championship wrestling, but now in this match,
00:24:25oh, he got it. He got the DDT. Will he follow up now? He got the DDT. On top.
00:24:33A little slow to get there. And Pillman kicked out at two and one hand. This match,
00:24:38getting down to pure athletic ability, and that's all. That simple. Both arms are hooked.
00:24:44Got him in a pinning predicament, but Badstreet, to his credit, avoided the pin.
00:24:48Irish whip to the center of the ropes. Crucifix. Go for it! Oh, good move by Badstreet. What a
00:24:57counter move. It was a very simple move to execute, and he had the whereabouts to do it,
00:25:02and it was a tremendous move. But notice how he was very reluctant to go ahead and try to follow
00:25:07up with something. Maybe he senses that Flying Brian is not ready for the kill. Badstreet with
00:25:14a two-pound weight advantage. Pillman now on a day's stake, but not that day's. Headbutts.
00:25:26The Masked Man falls backwards. Flying Brian again poised up on top. Eric Pillman has been
00:25:33launched. We have ignition, and we have a winner. Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner in the
00:25:40first semifinal bout in the Light Heavyweight Tournament, Flying Brian!
00:25:50Boy, they love it here. This kid from Cincinnati has fought his way back. He said earlier on he'd
00:25:56do whatever it takes to win and almost knocked himself out. He just forget himself right there,
00:26:01and with reckless abandon, Flying Brian wins the very first match with this, his trademark,
00:26:07the Flying Body Press. He is back at World Championship Wrestling, and he's one match
00:26:12away from being a champion. Coming up, the United States Heavyweight Champion,
00:26:16Sting, takes on the undefeated Johnny B. Bad, but now here's this edition of the WCW Top 10.
00:26:26And now here's a look at the latest Top 10 rankings as compiled by promoters and members
00:26:31of the WCW Board of Directors. In the number 10 spot, the former World Television Champion,
00:26:37from Huntsville, Alabama, Beautiful Bobby. In the number 9 position, the Z-Man. The number 8 man,
00:26:43the Diamond Stud. One notch above the Diamond Stud in the number 7 spot is the one-man gang,
00:26:50continuing to move up in the Top 10. This week at number 6, the natural Dustin Rhodes,
00:26:55the World Television Champion. Stunning Steve Austin checks in at number 5. At the number 4
00:27:01spot this week, 7-foot, 7-inch, El Gigante. The number 3 man from Sweetwater, Barry Windham. The
00:27:09number 2 ranked contender this week in the Top 10, the former All-American from Warner Robins,
00:27:14Georgia, Ron Simmons. And the number 1 contender is the current US Heavyweight Champion, Sting.
00:27:20And the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, the total package, Lex Luger.
00:27:40Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest on the Fall Brawl, it is set for one fall.
00:27:47Introducing first, the godfather of World Championship Wrestling, Theodore R. Long,
00:27:53proudly presents, from Lincoln, Georgia, he weighs 239 pounds, Johnny B. Bagg.
00:28:09He is flamboyant.
00:28:10Hey, what do you think about that? That's unlike anything I've seen in World Championship Wrestling.
00:28:20The man is undefeated here on television. Deadly left hand. Don't be misled.
00:28:35He's got a dynamic left and as long as he possesses that left hand, in my book,
00:28:39he is a bad man. And no one has beaten him on television either.
00:28:44Well, he's got the biggest chest of his young career right now. I don't think there's any
00:28:49question about that. A special attraction here at the Clash of Champions, as you are looking live
00:29:01at Johnny B. Bagg. Well, a lot of
00:29:06frivolity, shall we say, in the air going here.
00:29:10Looks almost like a ticker tape parade, doesn't it, Dwayne?
00:29:15Well, one thing you gotta say, they have a great time, doesn't it?
00:29:18Is Cappetta dancing or bouncing? He's bouncing, I think.
00:29:32And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent.
00:29:40He is from Venice Beach, California. He weighs 252 pounds. The newly crowned WCW
00:29:49United States Heavyweight Champion, Steve!
00:29:54The laughters are shaking in the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. Without a doubt,
00:30:06the most popular athlete to ever compete on TBS and on WCW. He's got the galoo dolls.
00:30:16Their faces are painted, the posters are out. And on August 25th, that man won the United
00:30:22States Heavyweight Championship Tournament in Atlanta, Zambia. He's had a lot of problems
00:30:28in recent weeks. The fans that watch our broadcast know that someone has commissioned
00:30:36Abdullah the Butcher, who appeared on one of our broadcasts. There you see that. What
00:30:42happened? Sting opened the box. Out came Abdullah the Butcher, who tried to put Sting out of action
00:30:49right here. But somehow Tony survived it. Won't Sting out of WCW. Very, very badly to
00:30:56bring Abdullah the Butcher here, because the Butcher doesn't even wrestle in the WCW.
00:31:03Not at all. He had been wrestling overseas. Spent a lot of money just to get him over
00:31:07here, and obviously paid a lot of money. Someone, I think, I don't know if it's someone
00:31:11who wants to be the U.S. Champion or what. You know, interesting situation here. Johnny
00:31:15B. Badd is always the center of attention in each and every... There's a handshake,
00:31:19which we didn't expect. Always the center of attention every match, but he is not the
00:31:23center of attention right now. It is Sting. The golden boy of WCW, and he's dressed in
00:31:30gold and blue here tonight on TBS. Bill Alfonso, the referee, collar and elbow tie up. Sting
00:31:39with the advantage, pushing Johnny B. Badd back into the ropes. Irish rip to the center,
00:31:43and it's starting off very quickly. There's a leapfrog by the Stinger. He drops down again.
00:31:48Tremendous movement by these two athletes. A backdrop. Up to the lights goes Johnny B.
00:31:54Badd at the hands of the number one contender for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
00:32:00High wrist move, and Johnny B. Badd pull the knees up into the abdomen. But Stinger,
00:32:06he's got a washboard-like abdomen. Shook it off.
00:32:11Up on the second rope. Win for the elbow. And man, was he up there.
00:32:18Johnny B. Badd now, going up for a high wrist move of his own. All the way across the ring.
00:32:23He's got him a two count. Did not hook the arms or the legs, and that's why he didn't get
00:32:28more than a two count, didn't get the win. Watch out. There's an inside cradle. He's
00:32:32got him locked up. And Alfonso got two again. Boy, these guys are competing hard offensively.
00:32:40Another near fall situation. Johnny B. Badd, who has been ranked in the WCW top ten on many
00:32:49occasions. Jim Sting, as he looks around right now to our great crowd we have, he needs to wrestle
00:33:01Johnny B. Badd. And I mean wrestle. He needs to stay away from the hand that he gets into.
00:33:05If this hiccups, he's going to lose. He's got to stay away from it. Well, he certainly has to stay
00:33:10away from the vaunted left hook of Johnny B. Badd, a five times Empire State Golden Gloves champion.
00:33:19And Sting has this man well scouted. Notice how he covered up when he was in a position in the
00:33:25corner to be nailed. Sting with a wrist lock. Sting has been really, I think, somewhat concerned
00:33:48about who would want him out of WCW so badly that they would go to the trouble to bring
00:33:55Abdul the Butcher here from the Orient, put him in a big box, and have it delivered to a national
00:34:01television taping. There you see the wrist being turned against the grain. Great camera shot.
00:34:07Well, Jim had a chance to talk to Sting early on. I don't know if it's the box situation,
00:34:12as you take a look at him now, or maybe the fact that he was on Nationwide TV against Johnny B.
00:34:17Badd, or that he is the new U.S. champion. But he had the adrenaline flowing more than ever before,
00:34:22and that's why those double knees to the gut early on didn't faze him. He is really pumped
00:34:26up for this match. And in magnificent condition, we should add. Side headlock, Sting with the
00:34:33advantage. Johnny B. Badd, though, with some stiff body shots going downstairs, and he'll
00:34:40take their toll. Irish whip. Nobody there. Sting's so quick. At 252, he's as quick as some of WCW's
00:34:51light heavyweights. Again, on the very basic wrist lock, now into an arm bar,
00:34:57putting pressure, and a tremendous amount of it, on the elbow and the shoulder.
00:35:02Theodore Arlong, the self-proclaimed godfather of WCW, with an anxious look on his face.
00:35:15Well, Kenny knows all about championships and big matches. There's no question about that.
00:35:19He's taking Johnny B. Badd really almost to the top. Good suplex there by the Stinger,
00:35:24but Johnny B. Badd up very quickly. I think that surprised Sting. And Johnny B. Badd right now,
00:35:28a little flare of temper that we have never seen before. He has always been on a very light-hearted
00:35:34note during his matches, a very serious look, and even told Sting, come on, get in here.
00:35:39There's a box. A box has been delivered down our ramp here. Another gift box has been delivered,
00:35:47and I shudder to think who it's addressed to. There's the Irish whip by the Stinger.
00:35:52Johnny B. Badd trying to fend off Sting.
00:36:06And the Irish whip, and there he goes. Theodore Arlong up there. Sting up. Oh,
00:36:11Johnny B. Badd moved out of the way. Watch out. He went for the left,
00:36:15caught him downstairs, though, in the ribs. And he caught him flush. He caught him bleeding
00:36:21trouble. But Johnny B. Badd now sees the box. He thinks it's for him. Theodore Arlong says,
00:36:29go finish Sting off. Go finish him off. He caught him with a real hard shot
00:36:34to the ribs with his left hand. Did Johnny B. Badd.
00:36:38Arlong saying, finish him off. Well, he better stay focused.
00:36:53There you see that box, and Sting sees it. You gotta wonder what's going through his mind,
00:36:57and now the match has virtually stopped because most men are preoccupied by this gift box.
00:37:03And the match resumed. Sting takes him down. He's got him wrapped up, and he's gonna finish.
00:37:12Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, Sting.
00:37:17Cactus Jack just ran through Theodore Arlong. He's attacking Sting. Cactus Jack above us here.
00:37:26Hey, get it off me. He's right on top. What's he got? Oh, my God. Off the top,
00:37:33the second turnbuckle. Can you believe that? His elbow driven right into the heart of Sting.
00:37:42Cactus Jack has exploded from the box. Down goes the referee.
00:37:48Johnny B. Badd, attending to Teddy Long. A modified DDT, Sting face first to the canvas.
00:37:58This deranged human being from Truth and Consequences, New Mexico,
00:38:04has assaulted Sting and driven him face first into the canvas.
00:38:09Oh, my gosh, he needs medical help. Fans, we'll be right back.
00:38:17And welcome back here, ladies and gentlemen, to Fall Brawl here at the Clash of Champions. Jim
00:38:29Ross and Tony Schiavone back at ringside. This crowd is still buzzing after what we have just
00:38:34seen a few moments ago. And Tony, I think we would be remiss if we didn't take the fans back in time
00:38:39to just a few moments ago. A box was delivered, and out of that box came the unpredictable,
00:38:45the ever dangerous Cactus Jack. Let's take a look at it here, Tony. Cactus Jack explodes from the
00:38:50box. You notice Sting has his back turned. Now, Johnny B. Badd, when he sees this happening,
00:38:54he is shocked. The match is over. He blows right past Johnny B. Badd, and then he really kicked it
00:39:00in. You know, we talked about someone wanting to take Sting out of World Championship Wrestling.
00:39:03They wanted to do it tonight on Nationwide TV. And this is a scary maneuver right above us on
00:39:08the second turnbuckle. Look at the elevation and the velocity of Cactus Jack as he came down
00:39:15on the... I think he was going right for the heart with that elbow as well. The big question
00:39:20here still remains, who wants Sting out of WCW so badly that they would bring first Abdul the Butcher
00:39:28and now Cactus Jack to WCW? A lot of questions need to be answered. One of the major questions
00:39:33right now is how is Sting? He was helped out. He was in bad shape, worse than we've ever seen.
00:39:37Fans, we'll try to get you an injury update on the Stinger in just a few moments,
00:39:41but right now we're ready for our second semi-final event in the WCW
00:39:46Light Heavyweight Tournament. Let's go back up to Gary, my goal competitor.
00:39:51Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is the second semi-final bout in the WCW
00:39:58Light Heavyweight Title Tournament. Introducing first in the corner to my left,
00:40:04he is from Tampa, Florida. He weighs 219 pounds, Mike Graham.
00:40:13His opponent, he is accompanied by the Executive Director of the York Foundation,
00:40:19Alexandra York from Nashville, Tennessee, weighing 217 pounds, Richard Morton.
00:40:34The winner of this match, ladies and gentlemen, will meet Flyin' Brian on October 27th at
00:40:42Halloween Havoc at that big pay-per-view spectacular. Senior referee Nick Patrick has
00:40:48been assigned to this contest. Features two athletes, both second-generation competitors,
00:40:54Richard Morton's father, an outstanding referee before he retired, and of course,
00:40:58Mike Graham's father, the late and legendary Eddie Graham. So both these young men
00:41:03have a tremendous amount of heritage, and they know what's riding on this one.
00:41:07They know that Flyin' Brian waits in the wings, but I know Mike Graham, and he's not going to
00:41:12think at all about Flyin' Brian right now. You know, you talked about the legendary and late
00:41:16Eddie Graham. It's so good to see Mike Graham here with us in World Championship Wrestling.
00:41:20He is really a fiery competitor, and he really means championship. He's a former junior heavyweight
00:41:25champion. Richard Morton known for his tag team expertise with his longtime partner,
00:41:35Robert Gibson. That is a place now back in history. Morton now a member, as you know,
00:41:41of the York Foundation with Thomas Rich and Terrence Taylor. Good move there. He tripped
00:41:48him up, trying to go for a Boston Crab, and Graham may not be able to reach the ropes
00:41:54as Morton goes for a submission early. Good leg strength.
00:42:00Good counter by Morton. This is going to be a fast-paced, offensive-minded match.
00:42:05I've got a feeling, Tony, a lot of near falls. First man to make a big mistake may lose this
00:42:10one. And Richard Morton, we've seen it so many times since he has joined the York Foundation.
00:42:17When things are not going his way, he's going to stall for time or go to the computer with
00:42:21Alexander York. They're very secretive about what the computer says to do, but it's been very
00:42:27successful for him. Fans, we hope you'll be with us this weekend. We'll kick it off Saturday morning
00:42:32at 9.05 on the Power Hour. And, of course, our flagship broadcast Saturday night, 6.05 World
00:42:40Championship Wrestling, as Alexander York looks on. And then, of course, on Sunday for the main
00:42:46event at 6.05, three great programs, four big hours of wrestling coming this weekend,
00:42:51side headlock by Richard Morton. And the preliminary word from the locker room area
00:42:58is that Sting, even though he's a little battered and bruised,
00:43:01will be okay. So that's good news for all of us.
00:43:08Got a pinning predicament there. And good strength there by Graham as he bridged out of it. Has both
00:43:14arms hooked. He's got him in a pinning predicament and Morton able to get out just before three.
00:43:19You know, Jim, we have interesting contrasting styles here from one match to the other.
00:43:23Badge Street and Flying Brian really kick it in high gear and use a lot of high flying maneuvers.
00:43:28These two, Richard Morton and Mike Graham, are wrestling on the mat. So it's going to be
00:43:34interesting. It doesn't matter who makes it to the championship, either Graham or Morton,
00:43:39a different style than a Flying Brian.
00:43:44Irish whip by Graham, but he's stabbed by the knee of Richard Morton. And again,
00:43:51Morton goes for the pin. These two veterans are not wasting any motion here.
00:43:56And now Graham has him on the second turnbuckle. He's got him in a suplex,
00:44:00and he got two out of it. And both men quickly backed up to their feet.
00:44:04Another of the great traits of these light heavyweights, back up quickly.
00:44:07It's incredible that Richard Morton escaped from that move. Mike Graham,
00:44:14he is losing offense. He wants to go straight ahead at all times. Now watch him. He'll absorb
00:44:20a blow, but then he'll come right back after Richard Morton. Although these are pretty heavy
00:44:24right now. Still to come, two championships will be decided on this broadcast, plus the
00:44:32much-anticipated press conference and the contract signing for Halloween Havoc involving
00:44:38the Total Package Sweatshirt and the awesome Ron Simmons, plus we're going to be hearing from
00:44:43Florida State coach Bobby Bowden. That and so much more still to come here tonight on TBS.
00:44:50One of the very simple keys to winning a match is to stay on your feet. And notice how Mike Graham
00:44:56attempts to do that, to keep that base at all times. He'll lean up against the ropes. He'll
00:45:00hold onto the ropes. Anything, of course, obviously the way to lose is to get on your
00:45:04back. One, two, three. But he tries to remain at least on one foot or both feet at all times.
00:45:12Graham inside quickly, single leg pickup, trying to go for the figure four. He's got it locked in,
00:45:18but unfortunately for him, Morton was near the ropes. Referee breaks it. As Tony pointed out,
00:45:25again, as Miss York looks on, Graham back up to his feet very quickly.
00:45:31Fireman carry takeover. Working on the arm, drops the knee into the tricep.
00:45:38Again, working on that arm now, an overhand wrist lock from a setting position. But Morton freed
00:45:45himself, not by wrestling, but by pulling the hair. You know, we talk so much in the heavyweight
00:45:50division about the big men using their weight to their advantage. Mike Graham is a submission type
00:45:55wrestler. He loves to put on the arm bar or the wrist lock or like the figure four and have you
00:46:00submit. It doesn't take a very big man to do that. He's been able to use that quite well in his career.
00:46:08Morton has certainly disappointed a lot of people that followed
00:46:10he and his partner Rock and Roll Express for many, many years.
00:46:16After becoming a member of the York Foundation,
00:46:20Morton working on the arm now to an arm bar, both men on their knees.
00:46:26Sighs, certainly not a factor in this contest. Graham 219, Morton 217.
00:46:33Good drop toehold. And it looks like Graham's point of attack now may be the legs.
00:46:40Try to go for the figure four.
00:46:44Boy, you can rip the knee right there.
00:46:48Gonna be a Randall Cunningham here. That's right. Mike Graham is a wear you down type
00:46:52wrestler. Look at the fire. You can look at his face and see that he comes to wrestle each and
00:46:58every time. And like we said, you're not talking about the submission hold. He has a whole locker
00:47:04full of submission holds. He knows each and every one, each point of attack. Well, Mike Graham grew
00:47:09up in the sport. His father not only was an outstanding wrestler, but one of the most
00:47:12successful promoters in the Sunshine State of Florida for many, many years. So Mike has had
00:47:19great schooling, a great background. He was a great amateur wrestler. He was a great powerlifter
00:47:24in his class. A short, interesting story. When our colleague Gordon Soley was starting as a
00:47:32wrestling commentator, he used to go in the ring with Mike Graham and Mike Graham used to apply
00:47:36submission holds on him just enough to show Gordon how it felt. Well, if he applied that
00:47:42one on him, Gordon's voice would not be as deep as it is today. Inverted atomic drop.
00:47:47And Mike Graham got a lot of guts. I can tell you that. But how much can he take after that move?
00:47:54But he had enough presence to move out of the way. Hey, he's got a penny. Half Nelson. The
00:47:58leg is hooked. Did he get him? No, he did not. That was close. The ladies up top. What's he doing?
00:48:07Well, whatever it is, I don't, I don't trust it. Both being crisscrossing very quickly.
00:48:12Graham caught him. Look at the strength of Mike Graham. He caught Morton in midair.
00:48:19Got him now. He's got him rolled up. Hey, Nick, he's got him pinned here.
00:48:25And Graham, oh, Graham went face first. He crashed face first into that turnbuckle and
00:48:31Morton gets a cradle and the victory. Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, Richard Morton.
00:48:38So it will be at Halloween Havoc on pay-per-view, Richard Morton and Flying Brian
00:48:45for the WCW light heavyweight championship of the world. And Alexandra York is one happy executive.
00:48:53And she should be. That was a tremendous matchup regardless of the outcome.
00:48:57A lot of credit given to Mike Graham. And I'll tell you what, a case, a tragic case of manipulating
00:49:03the position of the referee. Because right there, there was no question, Mike Graham had it won.
00:49:10And had it won over and over again. And then finally when Morton pushed away,
00:49:14Graham hit head first, right into the turnbuckle. He saw it coming. He tried to stop it as he said
00:49:19to him. He went right into the turnbuckle and able to push Morton right above him. Give credit to all
00:49:24four light heavyweights in the championship of the fight. Fans, when we come back, the world's
00:49:28strongest man will attempt a world record next on the Clash of Champions.
00:49:45Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, live here on TBS at the Clash of Champions Fall Brawl.
00:49:50Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone back at ringside. In just a moment, we'll be going up to the ring
00:49:55to our colleague, Eric Bischoff, and an interesting story about Lex Luger in the
00:50:00new edition of WCW Magazine on the newsstands nationwide very, very soon. And we'll be seeing
00:50:06Mr. Luger in the press conference a little bit later. But the strongest man in the world as
00:50:11recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, Tony, is Bill Kazmaier. Now, in the Guinness Book
00:50:18of World Records, you fans can pick it up. Kazmaier has several records, including a 300
00:50:24kilo bench press and an 1,100 pound three total lift. 300 kilos, Tony, by my math is 661 pounds.
00:50:33He also has a world record for dumbbell presses, and those are like one dumbbell press,
00:50:3840 reps of 100 pounds. Is that incredible or what? He is an awesome individual, 315 pounds.
00:50:44He's standing by. He wants to set a world's record right here on live television tonight.
00:50:48Let's go up to our colleague, Eric Bischoff. All right. Thanks, guys. And we are indeed in for a
00:50:55special treat this evening because there's a man standing by who is recognized by the Guinness Book
00:51:01of World Records as the strongest man in the world. And he is here tonight to attempt to break
00:51:09a new world record and a test of strength. You've seen him on ABC. You've seen him on CBS. Please
00:51:16welcome the strongest man in the world, WCW zone, Bill Kazmaier.
00:51:24Big Bill, who makes his home in Auburn, Alabama. And later tonight, he will join forces with Rick
00:51:29Steiner and they'll take on the enforcers Anderson and Zbysko for the vacated WCW World Tag Team
00:51:38Championship. Back in Oklahoma, they call guys like that a horse. That's a horse.
00:51:50Welcome, Bill. Now, Bill, I understand that you're going to attempt to set a new world record. You
00:51:56currently hold the world record in this test of strength where you bent a steel rod 11 16 inches
00:52:03in diameter. Tell us about this new attempt. Well, Eric, this is a three quarter inch solid
00:52:08steel rod. And I'm going to try to put myself in the history books just one more time
00:52:13by bending this bar over my head and around my neck and closing it.
00:52:18That is indeed it's incredible. Hard to believe, but let's see if we can do it. Bill Kazmaier,
00:52:24the strongest man in the world as he attempts to set a new world record here at the Clash of
00:52:30Champions. He's set. Good grief. It's bending behind the neck now. He's almost got it.
00:52:49Bill Kazmaier, the strongest man in the world. Cheer him on. He's going to get it.
00:52:55Bill Kazmaier, the strongest man in the world. That's a new world record. Oh my gosh. That just
00:53:02rammed those 45 pound steel plate right into his ribs. Anderson and Zabisco would have had to be a
00:53:11premeditated attack. Here comes Rick Steiner, Tony down the ramp, but it's too late. Steiner is way
00:53:21too late. They're going out the exit door to our right over here. Can you believe that?
00:53:28You thought about trying to get an early advantage. He can't even get up. He just
00:53:32broke the world's record, but his ribs may be broken for his troubles and we'll be back right
00:53:37after this.
00:54:07And 75 pounds, the fabulous Freebirds. You know, Tony, we have an interesting situation here.
00:54:18The Freebirds have signed a two match agreement with the Patriots. They will meet the Patriots
00:54:24this Saturday on World Championship Wrestling and that match will be for the United States
00:54:30Tag Team Championships. This match will not. So these two men will face the Patriots twice
00:54:37in a period of 72 hours. Well, that makes for a very dangerous situation right here tonight
00:54:43for the Patriots and we're going to talk about that after they get in there.
00:54:46And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents from the USA and representing the WCW Special Forces
00:55:02time champion firebreaker champ, the Patriots. And we'll try to get an update on the injury
00:55:12sustained to Big Bill Kazmaier, the world's strongest man scheduled to be partners with
00:55:20Rick Steiner later in this broadcast to take on Anderson and Zabisco, the enforcers for the World
00:55:26Tag Team Championship. We understand that the emergency medical people want to take Kazmaier
00:55:34to the hospital for x-rays. We'll keep you updated on that situation, what it does to the World Tag
00:55:41Team Championship match is still a mystery. Well, Steiner certainly would go in and take
00:55:48both men off. Yeah, but that would not be very wise. And it's unfortunate that his brother,
00:55:53Scott Steiner, is still in rehabilitation, still suffering some severe problems with his
00:56:01arm, and he's still going to be out of action maybe two or three more months.
00:56:06I'd love to see Scott back at Halloween Havoc, but be that as it may, a young start team like
00:56:12the Patriots can be paralleled to our own Atlanta Braves. They're young and they're hot,
00:56:17and they want a championship. The Freebirds, but perhaps can be compared to the Mets,
00:56:22who the Braves start a series with tomorrow night. They're experienced, they've been there,
00:56:28they've got their World Series ring. In other words, they know what it's like to be on top
00:56:32and stay there. All right, you know, we talked, as Chip the Firebreaker went to do a moonwalk.
00:56:40Chip, talk about how dangerous of a situation this is for the Patriots, because the Freebirds,
00:56:47knowing that they're going to defend the U.S. tag titles coming up this Saturday against the
00:56:52Patriots, will try, I'm sure, to injure these two youngsters before they get there. Hey,
00:56:57side step, took Chip right outside. Right hand, and another right, make it three. Irish whip,
00:57:09there goes Hayes. Ooh, what a power slam. And Garvin, he goes up, and he will come down.
00:57:18Chip, with drop kicks, catching Hayes, and then Garvin, and the Patriots starting off very,
00:57:26very aggressively. Well, we have some uncharacteristic mistakes from the Freebirds to
00:57:34start things. First of all, Michael Hayes, he's always been very confident and very cocky,
00:57:38but when you're on a national telecast like this, and you've got two youngsters you're wrestling,
00:57:43who we know are really pumped up, you don't turn your back on them.
00:57:46At all, and that's what happened, and that's what led to this series.
00:57:52Very good point. Freebirds best be focused. Absolutely.
00:57:57And an elbow tie-up. Garvin with a right, and another on the, in the corner.
00:58:04And Irish whip, and it's reversed. Good hip lock takeover. And another drop kick,
00:58:14didn't get all of it that time. Irish whip, takes him to the center, and now a sleeper.
00:58:22Sleeper applied, and Hayes comes in, and I wonder if he's feeling drowsy.
00:58:27The key to the sleeper is the left arm, right up around the neck region. He had it on,
00:58:32a lot of power from Chip, but he's going right into Jimmy Jam's arm. Freebirds got to stay
00:58:37away from his power. It's that simple. Hit and run. We are now informed that Bill Kazmaier
00:58:43is vehemently refused to go to the hospital. He says he's going to tape him up and go.
00:58:51Sunset flip and a near fall. Arm drag takeover. The Patriots, Tony, have a couple of distinct
00:58:58advantages. Strength and that youthful enthusiasm. They got a lot of enthusiasm,
00:59:05but sometimes youthful enthusiasm will lead to irrational mistakes. Let's see if they can put
00:59:11that to a side right now and really stay focused themselves. He's rolling him up,
00:59:15and he didn't quite get it fully executed, but Hayes did, indeed, execute a leap.
00:59:22Really nailed him with it. Freebirds don't make a lot of mistakes, I can tell you that.
00:59:28Great veteran team. And the long hair of Jimmy Jam, used effectively by Chip, and Michael Hayes
00:59:38comes in. And the tag is made, and here comes Big Tog Champion.
00:59:44Elevation. Hayes taking up and over. Garvin didn't get a chance to get out as he slammed.
00:59:50Hayes has taken up. Champion by far the biggest man in this match. Cracks the birds head together.
00:59:58Feathers are flying here at the Clash of Champions. Reverse elbow. He's got it.
01:00:04He's got it. He's got it. He's got it. He's got it. He's got it. He's got it. He's got it.
01:00:10Clash of Champions. Reverse elbow. He's got the leg hooked, but Garvin
01:00:16prevented a pin there. The referee, Mike Adkins, told Jimmy Jam to get out. He would not.
01:00:21And Todd Champion could not keep up this pace against Garvin.
01:00:25Double clothesline. Down go the Freebirds. And the tag was made to Chip. Another double clothesline.
01:00:34Jim, I don't think that was a good tag. I think that Todd should have stayed in a little bit
01:00:38longer, but Chip is the legal man.
01:00:46Chip shouting for his partner to double team with him. And they do on Michael Hayes.
01:00:52Hayes double elbow. Out goes Hayes. Garvin left in there. He's set for the ride and he's elevated.
01:01:04And a lateral press.
01:01:08Referee's trying to get that champion out. Hayes fake going outside. He did not. Came
01:01:13up with the elbow in the back of the head. A smart move by Hayes and the Freebirds are gonna win.
01:01:20Ladies and gentlemen, here are your winners, the Fabulous Freebirds.
01:01:28Hayes gave the referee the illusion that he was also going to leave the ring.
01:01:32I'm coming home, baby. I'm coming home. He made a U-turn. And when he completed that U-turn,
01:01:38the damage was done to Firebreaker Chip. These two kids will have another shot.
01:01:44And this Saturday on WCW here on TBS, it'll be for the United States Tag Team titles.
01:01:51Jim, in this match, we talked so much about mistakes from veterans, mistakes
01:01:55from the youth. And it was a case really here of a youthful mistake. The mistake was when Todd
01:02:02tagged in Chip because Chip was not really prepared to come back in. Be that as it may,
01:02:07it came from behind that elbow from Michael Hayes. Here we see some earlier action when they were
01:02:12really on a roll. Now, Chip was a legal man. You talked about the illusion from Michael Hayes.
01:02:17He had hopped out, he had hopped back in. And then when the referee had his back turn,
01:02:21I mean, he struck him right on the skull. Wow. Fans, we've just been informed when we come back,
01:02:27Paul E. Dangerously will talk to the maniacal Cactus Jack.
01:02:32We'll have that interview on the Clash of Champions.
01:02:44Welcome back to TBS. My name is Paul E. Dangerously. And at this time,
01:02:50being the premier journalist in world championship wrestling,
01:02:54I want to speak to a man that made a most auspicious introduction tonight to the stinger.
01:03:01And you know, first it was Abdullah the Butcher and now Cactus Jack, you come out of the box.
01:03:08My question to you, who paid you the money? Who masterminded this whole plan against Sting?
01:03:14Well, Paul E. I think it would be real nice if at this time, everyone in this arena and around
01:03:24the world put your hands together in a round of applause for Sting because he had a great career.
01:03:32But it's all over now. It's all over now.
01:03:36And you are looking at the man that did it to him. And yes, that thought makes me smile.
01:03:46Yes, it makes me smile. But Stinger, don't be angry.
01:03:54It was nothing personal, strictly business. And I think I see one of my business partners now.
01:04:03But it ain't necessary because Cactus Jack got the job done by himself.
01:04:09What is Abdullah doing here, Cactus Jack? I don't know.
01:04:14Strictly a backup measure. Abdullah is my business partner,
01:04:19my friend, and I think he deserves a Cactus Jack hug.
01:04:23Oh, yeah, that'd be nice. Go give Abdullah a Cactus Jack hug.
01:04:27This is wonderful. Live on national TV.
01:04:36Oh, no! It's not Abdullah! It is Stinger! The Stinger attacking Cactus Jack!
01:04:45Stinger to the rope! Oh, my! He bankrupted right on that ramp leg!
01:04:53What's he going to do now? Right off! Oh, my God! Right off to the concrete!
01:05:00And Cactus Jack is not staying down! Anybody else would have had their back broken right there!
01:05:09Sting's got Cactus by the hair!
01:05:11He's standing bankrupt! Again, Cactus falling on the ramp leg!
01:05:19Oh! What a hell of a confrontation these two will have!
01:05:26Can you believe Cactus Jack is able to walk? Uh-oh! Look at this! He's got a trash can!
01:05:32Sting better stay away from him! He's a crazy man! He's a crazy man!
01:05:36He's pouring garbage all over!
01:05:38Let's fight all over the place!
01:05:40Watch it!
01:05:42Security!
01:05:44Get out of there!
01:05:46Oh, my! We've got to get back here!
01:05:48It's an ugly story!
01:05:50We're going to be back!
01:05:52Simmons and the Scotties next!
01:06:07And we are back, ladies and gentlemen, here on TBS at the Clash of Champions.
01:06:13Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone back at ringside.
01:06:16And, Tony, this crowd, they have just been exasperated by what we have seen involving Cactus Jack and Sting.
01:06:23Fans, if that match has ever signed Sting and Cactus one-on-one, don't miss that one.
01:06:27Absolutely.
01:06:28Now, in just a few moments, we're going to see Ron Simmons take on the Diamond Stud.
01:06:32But recently, about a year or so ago, we've just secured the footage.
01:06:36Ron Simmons, football jersey, was retired from Florida State. Tony, it's a tremendous honor.
01:06:41It's a tremendous honor, and he was a tremendous football player in a tremendous program, Jim.
01:06:45He's an outstanding athlete, and he really was a cornerstone of Coach Bobby Bowden's Florida State Seminoles.
01:06:51We're going to hear from Bobby Bowden.
01:06:53But right now, let's go back in time to Tallahassee, Florida, and the retirement ceremony for Ron Simmons, number 50, jersey.
01:07:02Back-to-back Orange Bowl appearances.
01:07:04He led the Seminoles in four consecutive victories over Florida.
01:07:08Ladies and gentlemen, this night, the Lexington Green Angels will now officially retire the number 50 of Florida State's own Ron Simmons.
01:07:20Ladies and gentlemen, Ron Simmons.
01:07:34In the locker room at Florida State University, they have his locker in plexiglass with his shoulder pads and his helmet and that jersey enshrined,
01:07:43without a doubt, the greatest athlete in the history of the Florida State Seminoles.
01:07:47And, of course, the man who says so many great things about Ron Simmons is Bobby Bowden,
01:07:53and Bobby Bowden has had a wonderful career head coach at Florida State University.
01:07:57We had a chance to talk to him, and it was really a remarkable talk.
01:07:59Bobby Bowden currently coaching the number one ranked college football team in America,
01:08:05and we had the occasion to speak with Coach Bobby Bowden.
01:08:07As a matter of fact, let's take you now to Tallahassee, Florida.
01:08:11Here's Coach Bobby Bowden.
01:08:16Ron, I can't believe that 12 years have passed since you took Florida State to our first undefeated season down here and made champions out of us.
01:08:27And now, it doesn't surprise me that you're fixing to clash for the world championship there in wrestling.
01:08:33That doesn't surprise me, knowing you.
01:08:35And I just want you to know that I wish you the best, and I know this.
01:08:41Every Seminole at this moment is praying and pulling for Ron Simmons.
01:08:47And it doesn't surprise me you're there because I know when you came to Florida State,
01:08:53I think you were probably the most mature football player I've ever had come to Florida State, well, I've ever coached, really.
01:08:59And you were always mentally prepared.
01:09:01You were always mentally tough.
01:09:03And if I know you, you know exactly what it's going to take to win this contest.
01:09:06And if I know you, you've done everything you possibly could do to prepare for it.
01:09:10So just remember the things I used to tell you when you're here.
01:09:14Don't worry about winning it.
01:09:16You just go out and work and fight and scrap the hardest you can do and do the very best you can do,
01:09:24and you don't know any other way, and then we'll just let the chips fall where they are.
01:09:28But I want you to know this.
01:09:30When y'all get locked up and it's pretty tight and you think he might be about to turn you, just don't forget.
01:09:37Your old coach is sitting right there looking and whispering a prayer.
01:09:41Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest on the Clash of the Champions, it is set for one fall.
01:09:49Introducing first, from the Diamond Mine, weighing 298 pounds, the Diamond Slug.
01:10:03He's also ranked number eight in the world, top ten.
01:10:07Great to hear from Bobby Bowden, wishing his number 50 good luck,
01:10:12and we'll have that contract signing at the big press conference later here tonight.
01:10:20I hope Ron's not thinking too much about the contract signing,
01:10:23because this man right here is hungry, the Diamond Stud.
01:10:27I don't think he is.
01:10:28Bobby Bowden said he was the most mature football player ever.
01:10:30Same can be applied in WCW.
01:10:32The most mature athlete ever.
01:10:34And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent.
01:10:42He hails from Warner Robins, Georgia.
01:10:45He weighs 275 pounds.
01:10:50The All-American, Ron Simmons!
01:11:01Oh, Simmons!
01:11:03Attacked from behind there by the Diamond Stud,
01:11:06and Gary Kepetta better scurry out of the ring.
01:11:09The Diamond Stud, six feet, seven inches tall, 298 pounds.
01:11:14Trying to gain, and is gaining, the early advantage on Ron Simmons,
01:11:19who's currently ranked number two in the world.
01:11:23Tremendous ploy by the Diamond Stud.
01:11:25Simmons had a tremendous amount of motivation and momentum coming in.
01:11:29He saw the tapes like we did.
01:11:31He knew what it was all about.
01:11:32He was pumped up.
01:11:33Diamond Stud took the advantage.
01:11:35It was a great move.
01:11:37Paulie's going to interview Ron Simmons later in the broadcast.
01:11:40Oh, great move there by the Diamond Stud,
01:11:42anticipating Ron Simmons' next offensive move.
01:11:45And Missy Hyatt will be in Lex Luger's locker room
01:11:47to interview the champion.
01:11:50Lateral press with the power of the former All-American
01:11:54coming to the front in this one-on-one contest
01:11:57that you are watching live here on TBS.
01:12:02When you're a nose guard,
01:12:03you know the offensive line fires off at you,
01:12:05and you know the Diamond Stud's going to fire right at Ron Simmons.
01:12:10Stand now with a modified bulldog.
01:12:13He got it right off the second turnbuckle.
01:12:15Throw Simmons' face first to the canvas.
01:12:17A little slow to cover, though.
01:12:19And that will not get him, big man.
01:12:23Simmons got him reversed.
01:12:25Couldn't hold him down.
01:12:30Wow, I tell you, those blows are heavy.
01:12:32You can hear leather slapping all the way up there.
01:12:38Simmons with a reversal.
01:12:40And good move.
01:12:41He slid to safety.
01:12:43Uh-oh.
01:12:45Oh, my goodness.
01:12:48Well, you can describe that one at home yourself.
01:12:51Well, there's still very, very much of a mean streak to Ron Simmons.
01:12:54You need a mean streak.
01:12:57And a clothesline.
01:13:04Oh, big number 50 exploded out of the box.
01:13:08I remember when they played Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.
01:13:11Coach Barry Switzer said,
01:13:12we got a great game plan if we can block Ron Simmons.
01:13:15Oh, spinebuster.
01:13:17The big man who will meet Lex Luger
01:13:21for the heavyweight championship of the world
01:13:23October 27th.
01:13:25Explodes out of the box again.
01:13:27And this is against a top ten contender.
01:13:29And he wins it.
01:13:31Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner,
01:13:34the All-American Ron Simmons.
01:13:40Ron Simmons will be involved
01:13:42in the press conference contract signing
01:13:45later in the broadcast.
01:13:47Kyle Lee Anderson will talk to him in just a few moments.
01:13:50Of all these great offensive moves,
01:13:52the one is the one that he knows best.
01:13:55Coming out of the box.
01:13:56Out of the three-point stance.
01:13:57Straight ahead.
01:13:58All of his power.
01:14:00Into the shoulder.
01:14:01And he drove down the diamond stud and got the win, Jim.
01:14:06Simmons, a tremendous athlete.
01:14:07Right now, ladies and gentlemen,
01:14:09Paul E. Dangerously is standing by up in the ring.
01:14:13Let's go ahead and go up to Paul E. Dangerously and Ron Simmons.
01:14:16My guest at this time has a dream.
01:14:21And that dream is to become
01:14:23the undisputed heavyweight wrestling champion of the world.
01:14:29But Mr. Simmons, in order to achieve that dream,
01:14:33you have to defeat the total package, Lex Luger,
01:14:36and my friend, you have to contend
01:14:39with his entourage of Harley race and Mr. U.
01:14:44Ron Simmons has contended with only himself all of his life.
01:14:49Dreams are not impossible for me,
01:14:51just as they're not impossible for anyone out here.
01:14:53And I'll prove to the world if Lex Luger is man enough
01:14:57tonight to sign that contract for Halloween helmet
01:15:01that Ron Simmons is the man to beat
01:15:04any time you want him.
01:15:06Come and get it.
01:15:07I'm not afraid of you or your entourage.
01:15:10Bring out your boy and your so-called mentor.
01:15:14And I'll be glad to take him on.
01:15:17Well, you issued a challenge.
01:15:18It looks to me like they're calling your block.
01:15:21Every time I turn around,
01:15:23you two guys are just like fly zone
01:15:26and you know the rest of the story.
01:15:28Let me tell you something.
01:15:29I'm sick and tired of looking at you punks face.
01:15:31I want the Lex Luger, the punk chicken that he is,
01:15:34out here now.
01:15:35And if you ain't a man enough to bring him out here,
01:15:37I'll go find him.
01:15:39Oh, he's gonna go find Luger.
01:15:41You'll go find him.
01:15:42You'll go find him.
01:15:43Well, it appears that Ron Simmons is going back
01:15:46to the locker room to pursue his dream.
01:15:49His only problem is that Lex Luger
01:15:52is a total package of reality.
01:15:55And we'll be back after this.
01:15:59Well, ladies and gentlemen,
01:16:00the following contest on PBS,
01:16:04it is set for one fall.

01:16:28Weighing 239 pounds,
01:16:31the computerized man of the 1990s,

01:16:41Well, we understand Ron Simmons
01:16:44is in the facility
01:16:47looking for the total package Lex Luger.
01:16:51And I'm sure Luger's got his security men with him by now.
01:16:54And Missy Hyatt's supposed to be talking to Lex Luger
01:16:58a little bit later in the broadcast
01:16:59inside that locker room.
01:17:01So we hope to be going there
01:17:03a little bit later in the broadcast.

01:17:13making his first appearance
01:17:15in world championship wrestling,
01:17:18the heavy hitter,
01:17:20Van Hammer.
01:17:25He calls himself Heavy Metal Van Hammer.
01:17:28290 pounds from New York City.
01:17:33A lot of caress from this big man.
01:17:35He is a big man.
01:17:37It's our first look,
01:17:38and immediately, immediately,
01:17:41man is taken to Heavy Metal.
01:17:45You know, we say so much,
01:17:46how much confidence plays into success
01:17:49in world championship wrestling.
01:17:50You can look at him and see confidence.
01:17:59Well, he's in there with a great veteran.
01:18:01Terrence Taylor representing the York Foundation.
01:18:06New York has already had success tonight.
01:18:08Richard Morton will be meeting Brian Bryan
01:18:11in the WCW Light Heavyweight Tournament
01:18:13on our finals at Halloween Havoc pay-per-view.
01:18:17Man, this guy has got this crowd captivated.
01:18:26He may be the king of the Headbangers Ball
01:18:29before this one's over.
01:18:31Take a look at the...
01:18:32Taylor from behind with a computer.
01:18:35He may have smashed that computer,
01:18:37but the bell hadn't rung.
01:18:39Can't be disqualified.
01:18:40I don't think it fazes this big man.
01:18:42Now, the bell sounded after the computer hit,
01:18:44so the match is still going.
01:18:45Oh, look at this strength.
01:18:48Van Hammer looks to be about 6'5", 290,
01:18:52not carrying any excess pounds.
01:18:54Clothesline, down goes Terrence Taylor,
01:18:56and again, Van Hammer, Heavy Metal Van Hammer,
01:19:02as we said, weighed in at 290.
01:19:11Suplex, taking Terrence straight down, face first.
01:19:23He's got him rocking here.
01:19:28Van Hammer up off the top.
01:19:30Now, remember, he's 290.
01:19:32The knee right across the back.
01:19:35Hammer off the top with a knee across the mid-back.
01:19:40And Taylor never had a chance.
01:19:42Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, Van Hammer.
01:19:51Well, they rocked and they rolled,
01:19:53and Van Hammer with an auspicious debut

01:20:13And fans, Missy Hyatt has finally made her way
01:20:17into a locker room.
01:20:18She's had a lot of problems, Tony,
01:20:19the last several months with these locker room interviews.
01:20:22Hopefully, this one will work a little bit better.
01:20:24As a matter of fact, Missy is standing by right now
01:20:27in the locker room of the undisputed heavyweight
01:20:29champion of the world, the Total Package, Lex Luger.
01:20:32Here's Missy.
01:20:34Thanks, Jim and Tony.
01:20:35And I'm here in the locker room
01:20:37with the most gorgeous man in the world,
01:20:40the Total Package,
01:20:41the world heavyweight champion, Lex Luger.
01:20:45Now, who could that be?
01:20:47What is this?
01:20:48Where's Lex Luger?
01:20:49I'm tired of looking in his stooge's face.
01:20:51Hey, it is time you and I had a talk.
01:20:53Wrong again, Ron.
01:20:54I'm done talking to you.
01:20:56Whoa!
01:20:58Hey, come on.
01:20:59What are you doing?
01:21:02Hey, Ron, what's going on, man?
01:21:05Hey, wait a minute.
01:21:06I'm running out of time, man.
01:21:08He is so rude.
01:21:10I can't believe that.
01:21:11I am so glad you threw him out.
01:21:14Ah!
01:21:15Ah!
01:21:16Ah!
01:21:17Ah!
01:21:18Get him out of here!
01:21:19Get him out of here!
01:21:21Get him out of here!
01:21:23Get him out of here!
01:21:25Get him out of here!
01:21:26Get him out of here!
01:21:27Get him out of here!
01:21:28I'm sorry!
01:21:29I'm getting out of here!
01:21:31Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
01:21:33on the Clash of Champions,
01:21:35it is for the WCW World Television Championship.
01:21:42It is for one fall with a 15-minute time limit.
01:21:47Introducing first the challenger,
01:21:49from Minneapolis, Minnesota, weighing 249 pounds,
01:21:56Ron Simmons!
01:22:00Tremendous ovation for the challenger,
01:22:02but man, Ron Simmons is like a man possessed there, Tony.
01:22:06This is the wrong night for someone like Lex Luthor
01:22:09and his entourage to really play with Ron Simmons
01:22:11after all we've seen, after his big win.
01:22:14He's really pumped up.
01:22:15It doesn't surprise me what he's done.
01:22:17He wants Luthor.
01:22:18He's gonna get a chance, I guess,
01:22:19to see him a little bit later on during the contract signing.
01:22:21That'll still be to come here on CBS
01:22:24as we prepare for our first of two championship matches.
01:22:30And ladies and gentlemen,
01:22:31his opponent, from Hollywood, California,
01:22:36weighing 258 pounds,
01:22:40he is accompanied by Lady Blossom,
01:22:43the WCW World Television Champion,
01:22:49Stunning Steve Austin!
01:22:55Stunning Steve ranked number five in the world.
01:22:59The Z-Man ranked number nine.
01:23:02So two top ten WCW wrestlers
01:23:06involved in this championship event
01:23:11for the World Television Title.
01:23:14Interesting point here, Jim.
01:23:16Take you back to the top of the program,
01:23:17the Georgia Brawl won by, of course,
01:23:207.7 and Shelly Conte.
01:23:22The Z-Man went out early on.
01:23:25He walked out.
01:23:26Stunning Steve Austin went out with Barry Windham.
01:23:28They fought all the way back.
01:23:31So if any man took some punishment early on,
01:23:33it was Stunning Steve Austin.
01:23:34I'm not sure if that's gonna affect him
01:23:36in this match or not.
01:23:37That's an evil woman right there,
01:23:38I can tell you that.
01:23:42Z-Man, as you heard from Gary Michael Capetta
01:23:45from Minneapolis,
01:23:48Stunning Steve calls Hollywood, California home.
01:23:57Our director tells me that Bill Kazmaier
01:24:00has been amply taped.
01:24:02His ribs are probably broken,
01:24:05but Kazmaier and Rick Steiner
01:24:07will have their chance, of course,
01:24:10to make history right here on live television
01:24:13when they make the enforcers
01:24:14for the World Tag Team title.
01:24:16Wanted to update you on that.
01:24:17That's still to come here tonight on TBS.
01:24:21Colin Opotaya, Z-Man,
01:24:23has been a world television champion
01:24:26here in WCW, and he was a great one, Tony.
01:24:29He was a tremendous world television champion.
01:24:31Defeated Art Anderson right here on TBS,
01:24:34if you'll recall.
01:24:35It was near the end of the year.
01:24:37So he knows what it's like to be a true champion now.
01:24:42One-third of the world's six-man tag team champions,
01:24:45along with Big Josh and Dustin Rhodes,
01:24:47is the Z-Man.
01:24:48Side headlock applied.
01:24:49Good counter move.
01:24:51Chain wrestling move into the hammerlock
01:24:54by Stunning Steve.
01:24:56And the Z-Man able to counter.
01:25:00Back into the hammerlock.
01:25:05Jim, these two athletes are so close
01:25:07as far as wrestling ability is concerned.
01:25:09It's gonna be the man that can out-wrestle
01:25:11the other in this match, hopefully.
01:25:13But we've seen Stunning Steve Austin
01:25:15along with Lady Blossom
01:25:16pull out some awfully devious things.
01:25:18You talk about how evil she was
01:25:20at the top of the match.
01:25:22Well, the Z-Man's a very intelligent young man
01:25:24with a degree in communications.
01:25:26Very focused young athlete.
01:25:28He wants to earn his way up the top ten
01:25:32and wrestle for championships.
01:25:34Obviously, that's what he's doing here
01:25:36at the Clash of Champions.
01:25:38And Austin with his hand in the ropes.
01:25:40Referee Nick Patrick calls for the break,
01:25:43and it was done cleanly by the Z-Man.
01:25:46And we know the Z-Man a lot better
01:25:49than we know Stunning Steve Austin.
01:25:50He's been in WCW a little bit longer.
01:25:52What we know about the Z-Man
01:25:53is his tremendous endurance.
01:25:55And I would think if the match goes
01:25:57any length of time,
01:25:58let's say 10 to the 15-minute time limit,
01:26:00it would favor the Z-Man.
01:26:04Side headlock applied by Stunning Steve Austin,
01:26:07the world television champion.
01:26:09The blonde is sent to the ropes
01:26:10and comes off with a tremendous shoulder block
01:26:13on the Z-Man.
01:26:21Austin very proud of that offensive display.
01:26:25Well, he always seeks the adulations
01:26:27of the lady at ringside,
01:26:29and certainly she is quick to offer in her cheers,
01:26:32as you can see.
01:26:35Side headlock applied by the Z-Man.
01:26:38He's got not only great upper body strength,
01:26:41as does Austin,
01:26:42but both these guys are tremendously quick.
01:26:45Good shoulder block.
01:26:48Little payback there from the shoulder block
01:26:51the Z-Man received from the television champ.
01:26:56See, right now, Z-Man a little bit too willing,
01:26:58looked over towards Lady Blossom.
01:27:00He needs to go over and get Stunning Steve Austin.
01:27:03He allowed Stunning Steve Austin to get up,
01:27:05and that may come back to haunt him a little bit later on.
01:27:1015-minute time limit, I think, at this one.
01:27:12Yep.
01:27:15Great crowd here
01:27:17at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
01:27:20We're so happy that you've allowed us
01:27:21to come into your home here on TBS once again.
01:27:25Another shoulder block.
01:27:26A lot of impact in this match.
01:27:28A lot of hard hits and a kick to the gut.
01:27:32Right down to the solar plexus,
01:27:33but he countered very quickly into the head scissors,
01:27:36but didn't have it long.
01:27:37Austin, I thought, was gonna try to belly-to-belly.
01:27:40Went for a waist lock, and Z-Man blocked it.
01:27:42They fell back into the ropes.
01:27:49Z-Man very lenient here.
01:27:51You know, he's always been an aggressive wrestler,
01:27:53but I really think, Jim,
01:27:54that he maybe is not as aggressive tonight
01:27:56as he should be.
01:27:57Stunning Steve Austin will stoop to anything,
01:27:59and sometimes you gotta lower yourself to that.
01:28:01You know what I mean?
01:28:02Well, perhaps we should say that the Z-Man,
01:28:05for the good of his own career,
01:28:06better develop a mean streak if he wants to be a champion.
01:28:10Right.
01:28:14He can be tough and competitive
01:28:16and still stay within the rules,
01:28:19whether it's Little League football
01:28:21or professional athletics, as we're seeing here.
01:28:26And rules allow you,
01:28:27if your opponent is down,
01:28:28if he is in the ropes, to go and pull him away.
01:28:31Of course, the referee's going to count to five
01:28:33to make you break,
01:28:34but once you pull him to the center of the ring,
01:28:36you can start something again.
01:28:39Deep arm drag takeover by the Z-Man.
01:28:44Got the arm bar.
01:28:45Now, he's putting great pressure on the elbow.
01:28:47Well, you see, the Z-Man has come here
01:28:49with a great gameplay,
01:28:50and, of course, I've been maybe a little bit critical
01:28:52of his lack of going to get the man,
01:28:54but he knows what he wants to do,
01:28:55and he's been following through with it regardless.
01:29:01There you see a good look.
01:29:02He's got a wide base.
01:29:05Got a lot of tension,
01:29:06a lot of pressure on the elbow there.
01:29:11Both men back up to a vertical base,
01:29:13and if Austin can straighten up,
01:29:16he'll relieve a little pressure,
01:29:17but the Z-Man leaves the elbow,
01:29:19goes to the wrist.
01:29:20Well, study Steve Austin's primary move,
01:29:22and it's a stun gun.
01:29:23It's like a suplex, a slingshot.
01:29:24You got to be able to pick up the man to do it.
01:29:26If you take away his arms,
01:29:27he's not going to be able to pick you up,
01:29:29so that's what he's trying to do.
01:29:31Another basic move there.
01:29:37Back into the ropes.
01:29:41Another shoulder block,
01:29:43and a super kick.
01:29:44He got him.
01:29:45He got him in the face.
01:29:46Now, can he follow up?
01:29:47The Z-Man got him in that super kick.
01:29:50He elevates Austin.
01:29:51He's going for the pin.
01:29:52He may have him,
01:29:53and Austin kicked out at two,
01:29:55and a long two, we should add.
01:29:57Austin outside,
01:29:59but the Z-Man doesn't go out after him.
01:30:02Well, the Z-Man has picked up the aggressiveness
01:30:05just a little bit.
01:30:06Good point.
01:30:07He didn't go out to get him.
01:30:08Two schools of thought here.
01:30:09First of all, go get him.
01:30:11Bring him back in.
01:30:12Number two, if you go get him,
01:30:13you have a chance to be posted,
01:30:14and that could be trouble.
01:30:15Could turn the match around.
01:30:16Keep around the Z-Man.
01:30:17High cross body over the top rope.
01:30:21Tremendous move there.
01:30:23High risk move that paid off.
01:30:27Well, maybe he heard us.
01:30:28You want us to be aggressive?
01:30:30Oh, my.
01:30:31He went for it all there.
01:30:34What happened that time
01:30:35when the Z-Man threw Stunning Steve Austin in?
01:30:37He had so much adrenaline, so much power,
01:30:39he threw him too far in,
01:30:41messed up his timing,
01:30:42and he wasn't able to connect right there.
01:30:44He soared halfway across the ring at least.
01:30:48Austin fires up with a tenacious right hand.
01:30:52Snap Mayer takes him over,
01:30:54and now Austin with the reverse chin lock.
01:30:57Now, remember, as this match progresses,
01:31:00the time limit will become an ally of the champion.
01:31:05We've seen it before.
01:31:07That lady wasn't soon.
01:31:09The time limit run out.
01:31:11And Stunning Steve Austin knows the time limits.
01:31:14Many times, of course,
01:31:15we hear the time limit on the public address system,
01:31:17and he will put it in the deep freeze, as they say,
01:31:20or I guess they used to say in college basketball.
01:31:24He's got his feet on the ropes.
01:31:27Good officiating.
01:31:28Real good officiating by senior referee Nick Patrick.
01:31:35Right hand.
01:31:37Very competitive matchup here.
01:31:39You're seeing it live on TBS.
01:31:41He's got him, and he got the Stunning Steve Austin!
01:31:43And he got the stun gun.
01:31:44That will be all.
01:31:46He got him with a stun gun, and that should be it.
01:31:49But he cannot cover.
01:31:51Really slow to cover.
01:31:53Well, he's instead of going for the cover,
01:31:55he's picking him back up.
01:31:57I don't know the strategy here.
01:31:59He may be pinned.
01:32:00One, two, and now a half.
01:32:02Just real close.
01:32:05Austin a little cocky there.
01:32:07Maybe going for a slam.
01:32:09He got inside cradle.
01:32:11And the C-Man's got him in the sleeper.
01:32:16The C-Man has him in the sleeper.
01:32:20Notice the left arm in the position it should be,
01:32:23and that's the key to the sleeper.
01:32:25Cutting off the oxygen supply.
01:32:28Cutting off the flow of blood.
01:32:30Wait a minute.
01:32:31She's giving him something.
01:32:32Wait.
01:32:34Some nooks or something.
01:32:36She just put some type of object on his right hand.
01:32:39See it there?
01:32:40C-Man ducked it.
01:32:41Oh, good.
01:32:42He didn't get him with it.
01:32:43Oh, yes, he did.
01:32:44He got him that time.
01:32:45I spoke too soon.
01:32:46He popped me with those nooks or whatever it is,
01:32:48and the champion retains the title.
01:32:51Ladies and gentlemen, the winner and still
01:32:53WCW World Television Champion,
01:32:57stunning Steve Austin.
01:33:02I think it's very obvious she kind of took those nooks away.
01:33:05Tony, I think you should go up there and search him.
01:33:07Not me.
01:33:10Well, she has something.
01:33:11Well, that's obvious, but if she's got something else,
01:33:15some type of object, Austin retained the championship.
01:33:19C-Man's running lights were dimmed.
01:33:21The crowd here knows it,
01:33:24and the referee is chasing him down the aisle.
01:33:27The sleeper was really applied firmly on the neck
01:33:31of stunning Steve Austin, and here you go.
01:33:33She slips him, like you said, Jim, and looked like nuts.
01:33:36He put him on, and we thought for just a moment
01:33:38that he didn't connect.
01:33:40Well, really, he didn't, but then when the Z-Man
01:33:42picked him up with a belly-to-belly suplex,
01:33:44he nearly went on top of the head.
01:33:47Bingo.
01:33:48Nothing that the Z-Man can do.
01:33:51And once again, I talked about him stooping low,
01:33:54stunning Steve Austin stooping low.
01:33:56Fans, the press conference and contract signing
01:33:58will be next as the Clash of Champions continues on TBS.
01:34:04We're back live, ladies and gentlemen,
01:34:06the Fall Brawl here in the Augusta-Richmond County
01:34:09Civic Center.
01:34:10Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone back with you.
01:34:12We're scheduled to go up to the press conference right now,
01:34:15but we understand that his pompousness,
01:34:18the world's champion, Lex Luger, is not quite ready.
01:34:21Are you surprised?
01:34:22Not surprised at all.
01:34:23He's not quite ready.
01:34:24He's not ready.
01:34:25He's not ready.
01:34:26He's not ready.
01:34:27He's not ready.
01:34:28He's not ready.
01:34:29He's not ready.
01:34:30He's not ready.
01:34:31He's not ready.
01:34:32Are you surprised?
01:34:33Not surprised at all, and neither was our director,
01:34:35because we prepared something, ladies and gentlemen.
01:34:37Ron Simmons is probably one of the nicest guys out of the ring,
01:34:40as tough as he is in the ring.
01:34:42And recently, he gave a speech to a group of youngsters.
01:34:45Let's go now and listen to this.
01:34:47Ron Simmons at the Atlanta Boys Club.
01:34:51Say, say, by trying...
01:34:54By trying...
01:34:56That makes me a winner.
01:34:58That makes me a winner.
01:35:01If I fail...
01:35:02If I fail...
01:35:04I'm still a winner.
01:35:06I'm still a winner.
01:35:08Because I tried.
01:35:09Because I tried.
01:35:11So, you can't be afraid of failing.
01:35:15You never win everything.
01:35:17Never.
01:35:18I never win every match.
01:35:20I get upset, sure, but it makes me better.
01:35:24It makes me better.
01:35:25It's just like you go out and play basketball,
01:35:27and you lose a game.
01:35:29You play more, right?
01:35:31And you can play again.
01:35:33But you'll play it better, won't you?
01:35:35Because you know what you did wrong, right?
01:35:39It's better to try and fail than to never try at all.
01:35:44And that's where we get in trouble, you know?
01:35:46We're so quick to give up on something.
01:35:48You know, we can't do that.
01:35:52Tremendous words from Ron Simmons,
01:35:55and I see that they're getting ready for the press conference back there.
01:35:58Ron is ready.
01:35:59He's got quite an entourage.
01:36:01But, again, we're informed that the champion is not quite ready
01:36:06for his presence to be known here.
01:36:10But Ron Simmons made his presence known
01:36:12because recently in Atlanta in the Omni,
01:36:15he invited two school bus loads of kids to join him at the Omni.
01:36:18He even drove one of the school buses.
01:36:20Let's take a look.
01:36:23Ron Simmons once again showed his tremendous commitment to the boys club.
01:36:28Ron brought two buses to the Butler Street Boys Club of Atlanta,
01:36:32got over 150 tickets,
01:36:34and personally took the boys to see him wrestle at the Omni.
01:36:38Ron Simmons has continually shown a deep caring for his boys
01:36:42and is very proud to be their big brother.
01:36:45The boys had a great time cheering on their hero,
01:36:48and we're sure each one of them takes a piece of Ron Simmons' positive attitude
01:36:53for the rest of their lives.
01:36:56The big man gets to reveal that dream on October 27th,
01:37:00and there you see Eric Bischoff.
01:37:02We'll be going to Eric in a moment.
01:37:04Dusty Rhodes up there.
01:37:05Tony, what's the deal with Luger?
01:37:07The deal with Luger is what always.
01:37:09He's the man. He knows it.
01:37:10You're on his time when you are the World Heavyweight Champion.
01:37:13Well, I think that the undisputed world champion just might be ready
01:37:18to come out and sign the contract for the pay-per-view Halloween Havoc
01:37:22on October 27th.
01:37:23If that is the case, let's now go up to our colleague Eric Bischoff.
01:37:30Well, thanks, Jim and Tony.
01:37:32And certainly we are here for a memorable occasion,
01:37:35joined by obviously security and members from the WCW Board of Directors,
01:37:41the man who on October 27th,
01:37:44whose goal it is to become the new World Heavyweight Champion,
01:37:49joined by his lovely wife, Lottie, Mr. Ron Simmons.
01:38:06And we are awaiting the World Heavyweight Champion.
01:38:17I see Dusty Rhodes up there.
01:38:18Tell me what Dusty's doing there with Ron.
01:38:24Well, he knows what being a world champion is all about.
01:38:26That's what he's doing there.
01:38:27Better believe it.
01:38:32Here's Rob Garner of WCW.
01:38:34A lot of security people.
01:38:38Brian Mitchell.
01:38:41Doug Dillinger.
01:38:43Contracts will be signed here.
01:38:44Hopefully just a few moments.
01:38:45Make it official.
01:38:49And at this time, I would like to introduce Mr. Rob Garner,
01:38:53who I believe has the contracts, to be signed here.
01:39:12Big Ron looking forward to this one.
01:39:14There's Big Dust looking on.
01:39:16Mrs. Ron Simmons.
01:39:17It is official on behalf of Ron Simmons.
01:39:34Yes, Harley Racey, advisor.
01:39:35Making sure everything's in order.
01:39:47You know, this truly is a historic occasion.
01:39:54I have to admit and give a man credit when credit's due.
01:39:58What a glowing tribute to the man, to the athlete,
01:40:03a pillar of the community, Ron Simmons.
01:40:07I had no idea, Ron, retirement in front of 65, 70,000 people
01:40:13in Jersey, your locker, plexiglass stand,
01:40:15what a feeling that must be.
01:40:18The Boys Club, all the community service that you do,
01:40:21it's a real tribute to you.
01:40:23And because of that, Ron Simmons,
01:40:25I am going to give you the opportunity
01:40:27and this is an historic occasion
01:40:29to become the first black world's heavyweight champion.
01:40:43And as a side note, Ron, when it's all said and done,
01:40:48your total package is still the world's heavyweight champion.
01:40:51I want you to know we started a great team here
01:40:54and because of the kind of man you are,
01:40:57you'll always have a position with me,
01:41:00a lot of fringe benefits, a lot of perks.
01:41:04I've got my mentor, I've got my bodyguard.
01:41:07I had in mind maybe you being a driver.
01:41:09I need a girl, a good chauffeur.
01:41:11Uh-oh, that was too much, that was too much.
01:41:15Simmons coming after Luger.
01:41:17Simmons trying to tear Luger's head off.
01:41:19The contracts have been signed.
01:41:21Hughes is leveling anything that moves.
01:41:24That was so insulting from the pompous
01:41:26world heavyweight champion.
01:41:28And there you see, they're trying to get him out of here.
01:41:34Hughes putting Luger in the limousine.
01:41:36Race following him in.
01:41:40They've signed the contracts.
01:41:42What an insulting remark by Lex Luger.
01:41:45They've got him to the stretch limousine.
01:41:47Simmons kicking it in.
01:41:50He wants to fight right now.
01:41:52And there goes the world's champion.
01:41:56Fans, we'll be back.
01:41:57The World Tag Team Championship is next.
01:42:10And we're back here, ladies and gentlemen,
01:42:12at the Clash of Champions.
01:42:14And Ron Simmons certainly incensed
01:42:16after those discouraging remarks
01:42:18from the world's heavyweight champion,
01:42:20the total package, Lex Luger.
01:42:22Now, we'll talk more about that this weekend here on TBS.
01:42:25But, Tony, right now it's time to take a look
01:42:28at how the two teams arrived here
01:42:32in the World Tag Team title tournament.
01:42:34They both took basically the same path.
01:42:36And, of course, Rick Steiner,
01:42:37was at one time one half of the World Tag Team Champions.
01:42:39The injury to Scott, they were stripped of the belts.
01:42:41Arn Anderson, Larry Zabisco, enter as the enforcers.
01:42:44A definite force,
01:42:45and they really made their force known tonight.
01:42:47But let's take a look at this first.
01:42:48Fans, let's take a look at how both teams
01:42:50got to this point in the tournament.
01:42:53Oh, man!
01:42:55Harrisburg's got him up on his shoulders.
01:42:59What's he gonna do with him here?
01:43:03Power slam from the shoulder.
01:43:05Power slam from the shoulders.
01:43:08Hooks a leg.
01:43:09And they're going to the finals.
01:43:11His career will be over.
01:43:13One of the great assets of this team,
01:43:15the Young Pistols, is their speed and quickness.
01:43:17And you can't have that asset on a bad wheel.
01:43:19This kid's not gonna quit.
01:43:21There's Stevie and the emotion.
01:43:24They're gonna throw the towel in.
01:43:28Zabisco and Anderson in this chaotic situation.
01:43:35He tried a power drop.
01:43:37It was counted.
01:43:39He got him from behind.
01:43:41Anderson's got him wrapped up.
01:43:43He's also got the ropes.
01:43:45The enforcers win it anyway they can.
01:43:47Well, that's how both teams got here,
01:43:49ladies and gentlemen.
01:43:51But what happened earlier tonight,
01:43:53as Tony referred to before we saw the video package,
01:43:56I think maybe perhaps could it be
01:43:58the biggest blow of the night
01:43:59as far as the World Tag Team Championship is concerned.
01:44:02Let's take a look at what happened earlier tonight.
01:44:04We saw Bill Kazmaier attempting to set,
01:44:06and he did, a world-strength record.
01:44:08And, Tony, here's what happened.
01:44:09You know, unfortunately, in this sport,
01:44:11the rules are such that the team or the individual
01:44:13that is the most opportunistic
01:44:15will sometimes come out ahead.
01:44:17This was the opportunity the enforcers wanted,
01:44:19and watch how he goes down like a shot.
01:44:21Look at that.
01:44:22He had to crush.
01:44:23They had to crush those ribs.
01:44:25Well, we understand, as we said earlier,
01:44:27Kazmaier refused to go to the hospital.
01:44:30He is heavily bandaged,
01:44:32but we know that he will be competing here
01:44:34at obviously less than 100%.
01:44:37I don't know how successful they can be
01:44:39against the enforcers if you're not 100%.
01:44:42But he's got a good man on his team.
01:44:43Rick Steiner can battle two men.
01:44:45You know that, and I know that.
01:44:46It's gonna be an interesting matchup.
01:44:48The World Tag Team Championship will be decided
01:44:50in just a few moments.
01:44:51Let's go up to Gary Michael Cappetta.
01:44:54Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest,
01:44:57it is the final match
01:44:58of the WCW World Tag Team Tournament.
01:45:03The winner of this match
01:45:05will be crowned new World Tag Team Champions.
01:45:10Introducing team number one,
01:45:12total combined weight, 505 pounds,
01:45:16AA Arn Anderson.
01:45:18Living legend, Larry Zabisko,
01:45:21collectively known as the Enforcer.
01:45:27Fans, I want to remind you
01:45:28that the American Dream Dusty Rhodes
01:45:30is now with Lance Russell and Gordon Soley
01:45:34on the Wrestling Hotline.
01:45:36I'm sure Dusty's got some insight
01:45:38as to what just transpired
01:45:40involving Ron Simmons and Lex Luger.
01:45:44Dusty was right there with him.
01:45:45You have the opportunity to talk to Dusty Rhodes
01:45:48right now on the Wrestling Hotline.
01:45:52And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents.
01:45:57Introducing first, from Auburn, Alabama,
01:46:02weighing 315 pounds,
01:46:06he is the world's strongest human being,
01:46:10Bill Kazmaier.
01:46:14His tag team partner from Detroit, Michigan.
01:46:18His tag team partner from Detroit, Michigan,
01:46:21weighing 250 pounds,
01:46:25Rick Steiner.
01:46:30Steiner knows what it's like to hold a gold,
01:46:32but this is Kazmaier's first championship match
01:46:36in his wrestling career here in WCW.
01:46:40And it will be Rick Steiner starting out very quickly.
01:46:42And he's doing it against Larry Zabisko and Arn Anderson.
01:46:45And he chases Zabisko outside.
01:46:47Zabisko back inside.
01:46:49Steiner has to do this, Jim.
01:46:50The only way he can win,
01:46:52the only way this team can win,
01:46:53is to get it over quickly.
01:46:57If Steiner can stay in there long enough
01:46:59and can isolate one of the enforcers,
01:47:01he's got a great opportunity to win it here.
01:47:03Anderson missed with a left.
01:47:05Oh, he caught him!
01:47:06And he took it out of his boots
01:47:07with that power slam.
01:47:10On top, he's going for it now.
01:47:12One, two, and Zabisko stopped the count.
01:47:14He got a right hand for his efforts.
01:47:16As great as Steiner is,
01:47:17they're just so long,
01:47:18he can take two men on.
01:47:19Right now, Mike Edgar's got to insert himself
01:47:21and get Zabisko out of there,
01:47:22or Anderson, either one.
01:47:23Look at this.
01:47:24Kazmaier is in obvious, tremendous pain.
01:47:28Should not be here,
01:47:29but the big guy would not quit.
01:47:32Wide base by Zabisko.
01:47:33He's got the arm bar.
01:47:35Zabisko's the type of man
01:47:36who's going to rub salt in a wound,
01:47:38and that's what he's trying to do.
01:47:39See, they want Kazmaier in.
01:47:41They want to get him so flustered
01:47:42that he'll come in,
01:47:43and hopefully he's going to hold his place.
01:47:45He's hurting, hurting badly.
01:47:47Anderson and Zabisko make the exchange.
01:47:49It's Anderson in there now.
01:47:52Anderson has held
01:47:53the World Tag Team Championship
01:47:55on many occasions.
01:47:59Made the tag.
01:48:01He also leg dropped Steiner,
01:48:03and here comes the living legend from Pittsburgh,
01:48:05Larry Zabisko, with a blatant choke hold.
01:48:08Yeah, Jim, sometimes with all the things
01:48:10that have gone on,
01:48:11the injury to Kazmaier early on tonight,
01:48:13it gets down to teamwork,
01:48:14and of course, we got a two-on-one situation,
01:48:16and I'm sure Steiner's going to try
01:48:18to stay there for the entire match.
01:48:19Time permitting, we'd like to talk
01:48:21to the new World Tag Team Champions
01:48:24here tonight.
01:48:26Zabisko is a double tough son of a gun,
01:48:29as they say.
01:48:31Front facelock into a vertical suplex.
01:48:33Did not hook the leg.
01:48:35He did not get the three count.
01:48:40Ramming Steiner's head
01:48:41into the knee of Anderson.
01:48:44I'm sure the fans would love to have seen
01:48:46Scott Steiner here tonight,
01:48:47but he's in rehabilitation,
01:48:49and there's a counter from the suplex.
01:48:51Great suplex by the Dog Face Gremlin.
01:48:54The outstretched hand of Anderson
01:48:55meets his opponents,
01:48:56and Zabisko will come in.
01:48:58Here would have been a moment
01:48:59if Kazmaier was 100%
01:49:01where he would have had a tag opportunity,
01:49:03but Rick Steiner would not do it.
01:49:05Staying his ground,
01:49:06they are really at a disadvantage.
01:49:08Steiner trying to fight out of the corner.
01:49:11He's fighting with all he's got,
01:49:12with all his heart.
01:49:14He knows his big partner has been decimated
01:49:17at the hands of the enforcers.
01:49:19A kick, and a Steiner line!
01:49:22Oh, yeah, it's taken to rafters
01:49:26at the Richmond County Civic Center.
01:49:30Steiner might beat them both by himself.
01:49:33Well, he can do it.
01:49:34We talked about it.
01:49:35He's the man that can do it.
01:49:36What guts.
01:49:37This is gonna be it.
01:49:38Zabisko better do something for his partner.
01:49:40Zabisko nails Steiner in the lower back.
01:49:43And off the top came Anderson
01:49:46with a clothesline of his own.
01:49:50Rick would be well-served
01:49:52to make the tag in normal circumstances.
01:49:55Oh, wait a minute.
01:49:56He didn't tag Kazmaier.
01:49:57Kazmaier tagged him.
01:49:59Kazmaier, in obvious tremendous pain,
01:50:04couldn't stand it any longer.
01:50:06He made the tag.
01:50:09Oh, Anderson.
01:50:11Oh, right on the ribs.
01:50:12Right on the ribs.
01:50:13He had him up in the military press.
01:50:15Zabisko's gonna get him.
01:50:17Ladies and gentlemen,
01:50:18the winners and new World Tag Team Champions,
01:50:22the Enforcers!
01:50:26Anderson and Zabisko have just won
01:50:29the World Tag Team Championship.
01:50:31Kazmaier came in with all he had,
01:50:34but the broken ribs prevented it.
01:50:37And fans, we'll talk to the new champions
01:50:39right after this.
01:50:41We did it.
01:50:42Yes!
01:50:43♪♪
01:50:52The Enforcers, the new World Tag Team Champions.
01:50:55Jim Ross, tonight,
01:50:56we proved the theory of navigation.
01:50:59The biggest, strongest,
01:51:01most powerful sailboat in the world
01:51:04can't budge one inch
01:51:06if it don't have any wind.
01:51:08You're the strongest man in the world, Kazmaier,
01:51:10but if you can't breathe, you can't win.
01:51:13Tonight, the last thing we leave you with
01:51:16is we return these belts,
01:51:18not to rock stars,
01:51:19not to rappers,
01:51:20to two plain old journeymen wrestlers.
01:51:25Hey, you know,
01:51:27you know, while America was at home
01:51:29sitting on their brains,
01:51:31Arn Anderson and Larry Zabisko proved
01:51:33it don't matter how many muscles you have,
01:51:36it doesn't matter how many takedowns
01:51:38you learned at some jerkwater college,
01:51:41there's no more easy way you want these.
01:51:43You have to go through the Enforcers.
01:51:46Fans, for Tony Giovanni,
01:51:47I'm Jim Ross.
01:51:48So long for the Clash of Champions.
01:51:50Yeah, baby!
