00:04The Oscar winner discussed in a recent joint interview for GQ alongside his Wolves co-star
00:09George Clooney the meaning behind the phrase he has previously used regarding the future
00:13of his career.
00:14He says,
00:15"'It's not what you think.'
00:16I meant that as seasons.
00:17You know, there was moving out from the safety of the Ozarks.
00:20You embark on this thing, and it's all about discovery, and it's really exciting and interesting
00:25and painful and awful and all of it.
00:27And then when you're allowed into the big leagues, it becomes another game of responsibilities
00:31and things to answer to, but also opportunity and delight and working with people you really
00:36respect."
00:37The 60-year-old actor continued of his perspective on his current life season,
00:41"'And then it's this time now.
00:43It's what are these last years going to be?
00:45Because I see my parents are very — I just see what George was explaining.
00:49In your 80s, the body becomes more frail.
00:51And yet I look at Frank Gehry, he's just the loveliest man, and he's 95 and still making
00:56great art, and he's got a beautiful family.
00:58And I think that's kind of the formula to stay creative and keep loving your life."
01:02Clooney added that they're both lucky to be able to plan out their futures, adding,
01:06"'We're in a profession that doesn't force you into retirement.'
01:09He added,
01:10"'I will walk up to people, and they'll be like, oh, you're older than I thought.
01:13And I'm like, I'm 63, you dumbass.
01:15It's just, that's life.
01:16And so as long as you can make peace with the idea of change, then it's okay.
01:20The hard part is, and I know a lot of actors who do this, and you do too, who don't let
01:23that go and try desperately to hold onto it."
