00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba,
00:55we begin with the news.
00:56In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro denounced a media campaign being waged by the national
01:02and international extreme right wing against the country.
01:05During the inauguration of the Ludovico Silva Integral Diagnostic Center in Caracas, the
01:10Venezuelan head of state denounced that the international media have been in charge of
01:15spreading false information about the events of July 29th and 30th after the presidential
01:21elections in the country.
01:22In this sense, the Venezuelan president pointed out that agencies and media speak on protest
01:27in the country, when in reality there were an attempt coup d'etat.
01:32Likewise, the Venezuelan head of state questioned the double standards of the social networks
01:37that have censored their accounts, but on the 29th and 30th allowed the transmission
01:43and broadcasting of violent scenarios in the country.
01:52President Maduro denounced censorship in social networks and pointed out that their morality
01:57transmitted the events of July 29th and 30th.
02:00It was recorded and it was broadcast live on TikTok.
02:05TikTok banned my account before yesterday because they said that I was broadcasting
02:11a scene, a violent scene, through which media they broadcast the violence.
02:18It was not through TikTok, it was live.
02:21I took my phone and I went into my account, TikTok account, when all the other accounts,
02:28you know, when they send their messages, out of ten accounts, eight were live and direct.
02:33And I was looking at it, I was telling, look, you have to go to the street number, street,
02:39you know, this, they're trying to burn down that, please go there, alert the popular powers,
02:46the police should go there.
02:49TikTok was broadcasted live, all the evidence, all the evidence that we have was provided
02:54by TikTok, the criminals, because they were trained, they were told to transmit, to broadcast
03:00all the violence actions live and direct, so to generate terror in the country, so that
03:07the people inhibited themselves and to go out to defend theirs.
03:13Venezuelan National Assembly begins on Wednesday a public consultation process across the country
03:18on a bill against fascism, which seeks to protect the population from the violence
03:23promoted by the extreme right.
03:25The bill was presented last April to the National Assembly by Executive Vice President Delsi
03:30RodrĂguez and passed its first reading by a qualified majority.
03:34The purpose of the law is to establish the means and procedures of preserve peaceful
03:40coexistence, public tranquility, democratic exercise and the recognition of diversity
03:45and tolerance.
03:46The norm has a chapter dedicated to social media, described in the law as a new machinery
03:52designed to promote hate and violence over tolerance, love and coexistence.
03:57After the popular consultation, the bill will be sent back to Parliament for a final approval
04:02and its immediate implementation.
04:09On Wednesday the Government of Venezuela rejected the criticisms of the High Commissioner for
04:14Human Rights Volker Turk about the initiatives of the National Assembly to confront interference
04:19and violence in the country.
04:21On a communiqué, the Venezuelan Government expressed the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
04:26rejects in the strongest terms the intemperate statements of the High Commissioner for Human
04:31Rights Volker Turk, in which he dares to give his opinion on the legislative initiatives
04:37of the Venezuelan National Assembly concerning the regulation of non-governmental organizations
04:43and the fight against hate speech and the eradication of fascism and Nazism as political
04:48expressions contrary to the constitutional principles.
04:52The Venezuelan administration further stated, Mr. Turk takes off his mask and plays the
04:58role for which he was appointed at, the bureaucratic post in the international system by the imperialist
05:04powers, playing the role of plaintiff against the Bolivarian government and dismissive of
05:10the violent riots that attempted against the peace and tranquility of Venezuelans,
05:15killing innocent people, setting fire to schools, hospitals, political parties, headquarters
05:21and public spaces of the community, clear crimes that violate human rights.
05:26The text stressed the following, the Bolivarian government is certain that it is not Mr. Turk's
05:33ignorance that pushes him to disregard that the vast majority of the countries worldwide
05:38and all continents have fostered laws to protect the people from the evils of fascism
05:43and Nazism, as well as have pursued an important package of legal instruments to regulate the
05:50functions of non-governmental organizations, which in many cases represent obscure interests
05:55that seek to twist the welfare of the people over the duty of the states.
06:00Finally, the Comunique noted, Venezuela reiterates its call to the High Commissioner to let aside
06:07his provocative behavior and approach his responsibilities to cease his brutal attack
06:12on Venezuelan institutions and to take the side of the victims of the far-right violence,
06:17as the far-right has tried to inflict damage to the Venezuelan population by using fascist
06:23methods.
06:28The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, warned on Wednesday about a regrouping
06:33of the right-wing movement in Venezuela.
06:36During his daily morning meeting with the press, the Mexican head of state referred
06:41to the statements issued by international organizations about the Venezuelan elections
06:46and warned that several countries and the OAS seek to drag Mexico into interfering in
06:53matters that only concern the Venezuelan people.
06:56In relation to the electoral process held in the Bolivarian nation, LĂłpez Obrador reiterated
07:02that his government is waiting for the ruling of Venezuela's highest electoral authority
07:06before taking a position.
07:18Now for example in the case of Venezuela, I don't know if you have noticed that there
07:22is a regrouping of the right-wing movement, even the OAS, I don't know if yesterday,
07:27did they resolve anything yesterday?
07:43Didn't the OAS meet yesterday?
07:46And what did it resolve?
07:47Nothing.
07:48The OAS is trying to resolve.
07:50The same isn't it?
07:57If one candidate won, yes, but they are into that.
08:09They are even trying to get us involved in that.
08:11We already said we are going to wait for the ruling of the electoral authority.
08:22The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced the submission of a diplomatic
08:26letter to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, protesting the financing of opposition
08:32candidates.
08:33The head of state considers as an interference of Washington in matters that only concern
08:37the Mexican people, the sending of funds to other non-governmental organizations, action
08:43with which the Mexican President seeks to formalize a request for review of a transfer
08:48of resources as donations to a civil organization.
08:57Argentina's former President Cristina Fernández testified before court on Wednesday in the
09:03trial for the assassination attempt she suffered in September 2022.
09:07Fernández questioned the failure to present in court the material and financial authors
09:12of the aggression against her and affirmed that it was a debt that must be paid with
09:18democracy.
09:19The former president described the investigation and the handling of the judicial case as a
09:24disaster.
09:25She was the victim of an assassination attempt on September 1, 2022, by an individual linked
09:31to the extreme right-wing groups who pointed a firearm at her in the vicinity of her residence.
09:45A total and absolute disaster, only with the material authors, they never in general tried
09:50the power, because it's not only Dr. Cappuccetti, because it would be very unfair, there may
09:55be a bad investigating judge, there may be a bad judge of first instance, the problem
10:00is when that judge is ratified in the things he or she does wrong by the higher instances,
10:05that is when the power needs to be questioned beyond any expressions, which are everywhere
10:10and cannot be generalized.
10:16The truth is that the attempt to unify the case of the federal revolution with the case
10:20of my attack was rejected several times when I asked the magistrate in charge of the investigation,
10:26it was rejected by Dr. Cappuccetti and Dr. Cappuccetti's decision was ratified by the
10:31criminal court, which means that it is not only Dr. Cappuccetti, but also the judiciary.
10:41The Argentinian former president also accused the police of allowing the development of
10:46hotspots of violence outside her home after the assassination attempt she was victim of.
10:54The police were very aggressive with the Peronists of the city or the Kitcheneristas, whatever
10:58you want to call them, and were very tolerant, almost careful, to protect those who came
11:03to hurl insults and offenses at the door of my house, this is how it is.
11:07There are testimonies, graphic evidence, not only that, but they also did intelligence
11:12work on me.

16:04million people without electric power.
16:07According to authorities, the storm has caused road closures due to flooding, persistent
