00:00Cate Blanchett is opening up about her experience playing Galadriel in the Lord
00:03of the Rings franchise. During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live,
00:09Blanchett didn't plead the fifth when host Andy Cohen brought up her Lord of the Rings paycheck.
00:13When Cohen asked the Oscar winner which film gave her the biggest paycheck,
00:17Blanchett wanted to hear his guess before answering.
00:20I think it's probably Lord of the Rings.
00:22Are you kidding me?
00:23Oh really?
00:24No, no one got paid anything to do that movie.
00:26Did you get a piece in the back end?
00:28No!
00:29She went on to explain what made her want to be a part of the franchise.
00:32I wanted to work the guy who made Brain Dead. I mean, I basically got free sandwiches,
00:37you know, and I got to keep my ears.
00:40While it's unlikely that Blanchett actually worked for free on the trilogy,
00:43it's likely that her paycheck wasn't as hefty as some may think.
00:46Orlando Bloom's set on The Howard Sterns showed that he only received $175,000 for the trilogy,
00:52but called working on the films, quote, the greatest gift of my life.
00:55Reps for Blanchett and Peter Jackson have yet to respond to The Hollywood Reporter's
00:59request for comment. For more on this story and all the latest news,
