Jobless man claims trial in Bon Odori child abduction case

An unemployed man has been charged at the Johor Baru Sessions Court with abducting and illegally confining a six-year-old girl last month.

31-year-old Leang Win Son pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him in Mandarin before Judge Rasidah Ruslee on Thursday (Aug 8 ).

00:09Langwin's son pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him in Mandarin before

00:17The 31-year-old bachelor was accused of abducting the child from her mother at Echo Galleria
00:233 in Iskandar Puteri at around 8.30pm on July 20.
00:29He was charged under Section 363 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum seven years
00:34imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
00:37Lang was also accused of wrongfully confining the child inside a room at a budget hotel
00:42on Jalan Mahogany Sembilan in Batangkali, Hulu, Selangor at around 4.45am on July 23.
00:51He was charged under Section 346 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum two years imprisonment
00:57upon conviction.
00:59The victim's mother and other family members were present at the courtroom to hear the
01:04proceedings.
01:05The accused was later taken to the Kulai Magistrates Court under police escort to face further
01:10charges which include possession of child sexual abuse material.
