00:00If we are students in Jamia, we don't have time for classes and assignments.
00:06We don't have a particular time to give time to the newspaper, magazine or any other form to keep ourselves updated.
00:14For that, podcast is a very good form.
00:16For example, if we are travelling, travelling in metro or rickshaw,
00:22then we can simply use our earphones and listen to the podcast.
00:30Podcasting culture has definitely grown in India.
00:47I think we have the running joke that everyone has a podcast.
00:50It's like they are being handed out.
00:52What do you do? I have a podcast.
00:54Given the digital literacy levels, just the fact that internet connectivity is quite widespread in India
01:04through smartphones and mobile networks that give you some form of internet connectivity,
01:10the consumption of audio and video formats has skyrocketed.
01:14So I think that is really why podcasting is also growing in India.
01:24Why it has become so popular is because there is no censorship, there is no limitation of audience,
01:37there is no target, there is no geographical location which you have to target.
01:42So it's a free for all.
01:44Podcasts have invaded that personal space which I don't think any other media has yet reached.
01:50And also the fact that it's more of a choice medium rather than appointment medium.
01:57You can listen to it anytime.
