00:00It's hard to believe there was once any life in this area of Northern California before
00:05the state's largest and most destructive wildfire this year roared through devouring everything
00:11in its sight.
00:13While there may be an eerie calm here, the blaze dubbed the Park Fire continues to devastate
00:18other parts of the region, like in Butte County.
00:22Authorities say the fire had exploded to more than 1,400 square kilometres Saturday despite
00:28the efforts of firefighters.
00:30It's an area greater than the size of Los Angeles.
00:33A lot of our crews are what's doing called prepping, basically getting out ahead of the
00:37fire, finding those structures, communities, making sure those areas are more survivable
00:44should the fire go through.
00:46And they're also strengthening the roads that they can find possible control points when
00:52the fire does get into those areas.
00:55Restriction orders are now in place in Butte County, as well as Tehama and Shasta counties
01:00too.
01:01It's a similar story in Plumas County, but there it's the Gold Complex fire that's threatening
01:06communities.
01:07It's already burned more than 3,000 acres.
01:11Park Fire has shocked authorities the most though.
01:14Fueled by a cocktail of steady winds and heat, its spread has been dramatic after it was
01:19reportedly started by a man on Wednesday.
01:22He's since been arrested.
01:24Cooler temperatures and an increase in humidity can now help slow the Park Fire down.
01:29It's little consolation though for the 134 buildings it's already destroyed.
