00:00In training, it was really interesting how you're right in the middle of the game at the end.
00:06Is that important for you, to be in amongst your players to see how everyone's working?
00:12I think this is a bit also to set up for my coaching team, yeah.
00:17It's not always that I lead the Sphinx, but I want to be in the middle of the group,
00:23to push them, to give them the limits, to work on it.
00:27I think this is what I like, to bring the technical things from the meeting to the pitch.
00:34Just the technical things is not enough to win games, you need all the emotional things,
00:39you need the intensity, and to feel this, it's helpful to be in the middle of the team.
00:44Yeah, because with the coaches you had, I saw the physios there,
00:49is that a collective thing, is it about making sure everyone is together as a team?
00:56It's not always this kind of training, but today it was a good mix,
01:01and yeah, of course, for the players it's good to challenge the staff members,
01:07and for the staff it's also a signal that we are together.
01:11It's not the team and the staff, no, it's always a togetherness, and this is what we need.
01:16Today some physios need treatments, yeah, of course,
01:20but it's a good spirit, you feel the energy, it's really about positive energy,
01:28and it's also about being the best team-mate or the best staff-mate for the group.
01:36When we were waiting for you, I saw some of the players having meetings,
01:40I think Akin with Sascha and Max with Henrik,
01:45is that a camp thing, or is that something you do regularly,
01:49where you have one-on-ones with the players, speaking to different coaches?
01:53I try a lot to have this conversation during the season as well,
01:59sometimes it's on the pitch, sometimes in my office,
02:02but now in the pre-season camp, especially now,
02:06here you have time in the afternoon to make this conversation,
02:10I think it's important for me that it's not just the manager who speaks,
02:14it's also about my staff around, I think it's important that everybody takes responsibility,
02:20we have a schedule also for our coaches, they know which players should have a talk,
02:25this is then what I tell them,
02:28and then you can develop this, because you need also the relationship
02:33between the assistant coach and the players, and it's sometimes easier,
02:36sometimes they are a bit more open to an assistant coach than to a manager,
02:39this is normal, but I think that's the reason why I have my staff
02:45or this good staff around me, because we need this,
02:49you cannot do all this, you cannot do everything.
02:53Is that another nice thing about a camp like this,
02:56you say you have the time and everybody's around each other all the time,
03:00so if you need to take a few minutes you can do that without having to call them up,
03:04you can actually do it in person?
03:06You can go away of course, after the training you can go,
03:09and then you are home, but you have to stay now,
03:12of course you have to use this time,
03:18I think it's also different, sometimes it's about technical things,
03:22sometimes it's also about the human side,
03:25to understand especially the young players or the new players more and more,
03:30we do this here in the camp, every day meeting with the team,
03:35this is one part, but also individually we use this time.
