00:00Skeletor is about to turn that frown upside down.
00:03Here's a look at the Mattel Massey Universe, Stranger Things, Skeletor and Demogorgon.
00:30In his efforts to capture the power of Grayskull, Skeletor rips through the fabric of the universe
00:35into a new darker world, the Upside Down.
00:37Now subject to the rule of Vecna, Eternia counts once again on He-Man to fight back
00:42the horrors like the Demogorgon and return Eternia back home.
00:45The Masters may have more to worry about if Skeletor can bring in the Mind Flayer.
00:49Just though before we get a closer look at the Massey Universe, Stranger Things, Skeletor
00:52and Demogorgon, I'd like to first actually thank The Indo Nerd.
00:55He hooked me up actually with this set.
00:58If you guys could do him a solid and give him a follow, he does various different shop
01:01videos and he also loves Massey Universe.
01:03So thank you Indo Nerd.
01:04As for the figures themselves, they're going to be using the same molds as an earlier V1
01:08Skeletor, version 1 Skeletor, and this is actually just using the Beast Man bodies.
01:11As you can see, there's some tooling more so for the Demogorgon, not as much though
01:14for Skeletor.
01:15It's just cosmetic.
01:16Skeletor though is going to still stand at five and a half inches in height, where the
01:20figure is going to be 14 centimeters tall.
01:22Demogorgon though, as because of course you've got the big blossomed head here, it's going
01:26to make him a much taller figure.
01:27He's actually in fact six and a quarter inches in height or about 15, about 16 centimeters
01:33tall.
01:34So already out the gate, one big bad news though is the fact that they decided of all
01:37things to use the version 1 Skeletor head sculpt.
01:39I can't though speak for everybody, but I can certainly speak for myself when I say
01:43that it's one of my least favorite Skeletor head sculpts.
01:46And of all the things that they decided at least to use, why would they have chosen this
01:50Skeletor?
01:51Now granted, I understand that with version 2 Skeletor, that face has been used with a
01:55lot of releases.
01:56But though they haven't used a lot of this head sculpt.
01:59This just happens to be the one that got packed along with Keldor.
02:02Or even better, why didn't they decide to use this one?
02:05Dust off though the head sculpt mold that they packed along though with Screech, as
02:09I still feel it's one of the best, if not the best Skeletor head sculpts we've gotten
02:13from the Origins line.
02:15As though for obviously the Demogorgon, as we've already discussed, this figure is basically
02:18just using the lower half of the body, basically from like the neck down of the original Beastman.
02:23There is also as well the Lords of Power Beastman, which from a standpoint of his armor
02:28would have been rather interesting to kind of incorporate the shoulder pads here, just
02:31because they have sort of the stalagmite sort of sculpting on the tops of it.
02:36Obviously though for the quarters that this is keeping for the Blossomed head, it's gonna
02:39be a little bit harder, so I can understand why they decide just to use the regular Beastman
02:43armor instead.
02:45For the two packs accessories, all the same, these are pretty much kept to the quarters
02:49of Skeletor.
02:50All the new stuff though gets gifted to Demogorgon.
02:53First though, looking at the accessories for Skeletor, he gets himself the Power Sword.
02:57One good thing at least is it's not the half sword, so you'll see on both sides that one
03:01side is just as finished as the other.
03:03One thing I do like though is the color that they chose for this.
03:06It sort of has kind of a purple, purlesque color.
03:09It's got a really interesting sheen to it.
03:11I don't happen to have a sword in front of me right now, but I do have the next best
03:15thing.
03:16The figure does also come included with a Havok Staff, just to bring in one of the various
03:19Havok Staffs we've gotten from other releases.
03:22More of the purple is definitely getting used on some of the earlier releases than
03:24the one we get here for the newer Skeletor, but you can though see there's definitely
03:28a lot more of a metallic finish done to this one, and I think the purple is really nice.
03:33Obviously, this can though fit into his hands.
03:35The figure though only has, like the original Skeletor, he has one of the monster relaxed
03:40hands, but he does have though one gripping hand, so you really have to choose for yourself
03:43which weapon you want him to wield.
03:45I would probably just beeline it always back to the Havok Staff, but there I suppose is
03:49stored space on the back, unfortunately though with the way that the armor is designed here,
03:54this always comes untapped.
03:55It comes even more apparent though with this kind of plastic that they're using.
03:59I'm going to talk a lot more about this, but I will say right away, the plastic that
04:02they've used for Skeletor, I don't know if you can see this, is extremely soft, and
04:07obviously that's going to cause a lot more havoc when it comes to, I see what I did there,
04:10it's going to cause a lot more problems trying to fasten this on the back of his body, just
04:15because the plastic that they're using seems softer than earlier Skeletors.
04:21No sense in really putting him back down onto the table here, we might as well just continue
04:24to look at this version of Skeletor.
04:26Still though, I hate this head sculpt, hate I know is such a strong word, I just like
04:30this head sculpt.
04:31Obviously though from a standpoint of a sculpt, it's exactly the same, though what is done
04:35differently is the cosmetic choice of using this particular paint.
04:39In a way though, it kind of looks as if it glows.
04:42Just to bring back in my blacklight, I seem to have this readily available, though if
04:46you look at it, it does look like it glows a little bit on the front of his face.
04:50We're going to test the waters a little bit more a little bit later, I'm going to actually
04:53put this in front of my lamp, I don't suspect as I haven't checked this yet, if actually
04:57the face does glow, maybe the eyes, maybe the eyes do, but leave it with me, we'll
05:01come back to that more in a moment.
05:02Even though I don't like this head sculpt, all the rest of this is obviously just using
05:06the regular Skeletor body, though not liking this head, there's something though that's
05:10been done with the paint that makes me like it just this much more.
05:15That much?
05:16No, no, no, no, just this much more.
05:18Maybe it just is the way that they've painted it, because obviously with the original version
05:211 Skeletor, they would have tried to keep the colors in queue to the original 80s release,
05:26so keeping more of the darker green all around it, the front of his face more in yellow.
05:30They've kind of just done away with the green altogether and just met in the middle, giving
05:33us kind of more of a greenish yellow, and it works actually quite well with this particular
05:38head sculpt.
05:39Again, only by that much do I like it a little bit more.
05:42The metallic purple also works really well for his hood, works also as well for his,
05:46that obviously the front of his armor piece here, and also for his loincloth.
05:50The loincloth and though his armor are extremely soft, and not that this would be really a
05:55hard thing to pull off showing you guys in the video, but if you can see by the way I'm
05:59squeezing this, I know, like would that be a really good, see how easy it is for me to
06:04squeeze this, a lot more easier than me squeezing this.
06:08The plastic still is soft in both cases, but I find though that the plastic that they
06:12use for the armor on this version of Skeletor is very close to almost a fruit roll-up, not
06:17that I would really suggest the idea of putting this in your mouth.
06:20The armor is obviously going to be exactly the same as the other Skeletor, although I
06:24like the darker colors that they've used for the body.
06:26Bringing back again the body for the original Skeletor would have had more of the brighter
06:29blues and brighter purples.
06:32Keeping the colors kind of more dark and muted like this work really well for not only this
06:35body of Skeletor, but again also complements I feel this particular head sculpt.
06:40Again all the rest of the body is going to be exactly the same, he's still going to
06:43have the monster feet, and again all the articulation on the Skeletor is going to be retained from
06:47the earlier releases.
06:48Head's going to be on a ball joint, so of course it rotates all the way around.
06:51The waist does have a straight swivel.
06:53You can bring the arms out at 90 degrees, a little tighter on this figure, but that's
06:56not a bad thing at all.
06:57You can also as well rotate the arms all the way around.
07:00Skeletor has only just a swivel in his arm, but also serves as well for an elbow hinge.
07:05Arms also as well rotate all the way around.
07:07Legs split out.
07:08They're on ball joints.
07:09You can take the legs move forward.
07:10What?
07:11You can take the legs move them back.
07:12Hey, no.
07:13And you can also bend the knees.
07:14Get out of here.
07:15You can also rotate as well the lower leg, rotate the boot, up and down ankle pivot,
07:20back and forth ankle rocker, and of course this version of Skeletor like all others does
07:25have the peggles on the bottoms of his feet.
07:27Even though I still feel though like if I had the choice, let's just say, let's play
07:32an imaginary world for right now.
07:34If I had the choice and I was working with Mattel and Mattel said to me, Hey, what head
07:37sculpt would you have used for this version of Skeletor?
07:39I would have said right out the gate, I would have dusted this bad boy off.
07:43This is the one of course we did get released with Screech and though hating really the
07:46use of the purples and the additional orange that they've like dusted all across the armor.
07:51This head sculpt I feel is still the best and it's the only Skeletor that actually
07:55has a working jaw articulation.
07:58Yes, Skeletor agrees.
08:00This head sculpt would have been a prime candidate.
08:03And even though released obviously with the Demogorgon here, this guy definitely does
08:07need to get a release down the road in proper Skeletor colors.
08:10Even in fact, sucking the colors off of this Skeletor and in fact throwing them on this
08:15guy, this would be for me one of the best, again, probably the best Skeletor we would
08:20get from the Origins line.
08:21Little soft on the top there.
08:22I'm going to have to see if I can keep that.
08:24This guy's actually been sitting inside of a bag for a bit, so that's probably one of
08:26the reasons why little fins are floating up like this.
08:30But again, perfect Skeletor right there.
08:33Mr. Mark, I really feel by choosing the wrong head sculpt, I know obviously they're not
08:36going to come up with a brand new mold.
08:38All of the tooling costs have really been gone into the production obviously of the
08:43Blossomed Face Demogorgon, so why would they have then used anything to tool a brand new
08:47head sculpt for Skeletor?
08:48They wouldn't have had to.
08:50Skeletor has had, what, four, five, even I think six or seven different face portraits
08:54and we already have the one from Screech, so why not just use that one as the mold for
08:59this version of Skeletor?
09:02On to now though, the Demogorgon.
09:03And Demogorgon, you can see, this is where all the budget got thrown into him.
09:07The figure does first of all come in clear with the D&D dice, I don't know if you would
09:10call this, it almost kind of looks like a baton or something you would see maybe from
09:14American Gladiators, but you can see though, like the dice, it has the numbers all around
09:18it.
09:19This has been cast not quite just in blue, but kind of more of a metallic blue.
09:22It also has these flame effects on the side, so when it looks like he's, obviously if he's
09:26swinging this, he would be basically just creating a ring of fire.
09:30I fell down into a ring of fire.
09:32One of the things I do like though about this is that you can remove these.
09:35If you really don't like the idea of being married to flames all the time, you can always
09:39just obviously just detach these.
09:40There's a basically a little loop clip there on the top and a C-clip down below, basically
09:45just detach the two and now you just have yourself like a regular weapon.
09:49You do the exact same on both sides as well.
09:51I was thinking actually in fact, like is this, if for example, if you took the Demogorgon,
09:55let's not knock Skeletor off in the process.
09:57I think for all intents and purposes too, even though there's really no place for this
10:01to clasp onto like his armor, for example, you can kind of give him some really cool
10:04flame effects too.
10:05I guess you could probably put it like right there.
10:08I don't really want to do that just for the risk that I could break the plastic.
10:11I was kind of thinking to myself, hey, that would be ideal if this could fit around his
10:14arms, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
10:19Obviously though, he's going to have the means to hold this.
10:21One good thing though is unlike Skeletor, he does actually have gripping hands, although
10:24while looking at them, probably going to be hard to kind of see that these are gripping
10:28hands, but you have to kind of fight through getting through fingers.
10:31And once you get through the finger foliage, you basically just take the weapon and you
10:35clip them into his hands and you can do it on this side.
10:38You can do it on this side.
10:39You can't do it on both because you only have one weapon.
10:41And unfortunately, I don't think you can even, let's just see, can you slide this all the
10:45way down?
10:46You probably could and clip this in his other hand as well.
10:48So it looks like he's wheeling with both.
10:49Unfortunately though, he only still has a single hinge on both sides.
10:53So it can be a little harder for him to hold the weapon with both.
10:56So let's just put that off to the side also as well.
10:58Getting though a closer look at the Demogorgon.
11:00So obviously bringing back in Beastman, we've got to keep doing this.
11:02We've got to keep giving you guys the information.
11:05Using still the same body, nothing's different here.
11:07Although looking at this, you would think, hey, no, they've retooled that.
11:10Hey, no, they have not.
11:11This was just basically molded to the same red plastic.
11:14So it sort of does get lost in the shuffle.
11:16It gives a chance a little bit more to shine now, the fact that he went in and actually
11:20painted this blue.
11:21So looking at this, you would think that the colors would clash.
11:24The gold, then of course you've got this kind of bright aquamarine.
11:27What would you call it?
11:28Like a aquamarine?
11:29I think I'm going to go with that aquamarine blue and you've got some nice dark kind of
11:33burgundy.
11:34All the colors really work quite well and I like the colors that they chose actually
11:37for Demogorgon.
11:38Kind of giving him a slight purple tinted gray.
11:43Obviously the armor is going to be exactly the same as the original Beastman.
11:46What they've only done differently is they've molded this now in gold plastic.
11:49So he's got the shoulders in gold, obviously got the front armor piece there also in gold.
11:54The only little bit of gold that he actually gets is basically from like the waist up.
11:58He gets new tooled hands, so that's something new.
12:00He also gets brand new tooled feet.
12:02Neither one of those, by the way, I don't think have ever been used for other figures.
12:05You can let me know down below in the comments if that isn't the case.
12:09Obviously though, we've been missing this whole time actually looking at the Venus flytrap
12:13face that is the Demogorgon.
12:15These by the way, little pedals are soft and plastic.
12:18I like the head sculpt quite a bit.
12:20And even though, honestly though, of the collaborations that Master Universe and they've been doing
12:25a lot lately, I like this one a lot more than I've been wowed by like the Teenage Mutant
12:30Ninja Turtles, Powers of Greyskull or whatever they're calling it.
12:33I think it's Ninja Turtles of Greyskull.
12:35Had looked at a couple of those here on this channel as well.
12:38I thought those were okay, but honestly I was more interested in the bad guys than it
12:41was actually the turtles themselves.
12:42I can certainly get behind this.
12:44I think this is a cool looking rendition of the Demogorgon and it could really be a believable
12:48thing that you could see be working with Skeletor.
12:51I sort of had them standing off looking at one another at the beginning of this review,
12:54but it seems to be the case that looking even at the packaging that they're not at war with
12:58one another.
12:59Skeletor basically is summoning these in as basically one of his minions.
13:02I would imagine he's probably going to be getting a couple more of these as well.
13:05I like the way they've painted, first of all, little teeth.
13:07So they've gone in there with a paint and just dabbed those around.
13:10So it does look like there's a little bit of detail to be had.
13:12Of course, again, this is a brand new head sculpt.
13:14Hands, feet, there are also as well.
13:16But again, like everything, the building blocks of this, you can't expect them to do this
13:19all from scratch.
13:20They're going to still be using and relying on Beastman's body.
13:23For the articulation on this guy, it's going to be exactly the same as well.
13:26So you've got your ball joint.
13:27Head looks surprisingly a lot higher than I was expecting.
13:31It looks down about that low and of course you can move it also back and forth too.
13:35Arms come out and not restricted at all by the side armor pieces that he has on his biceps.
13:39You can still as well move the arms all the way around too.
13:41I know this is already the territory we've covered with more Skeletor, so maybe we'll
13:45just rush through this quickly.
13:47Hinge in the elbow, although unfortunately it had to be just Demogorgon, the hinge on
13:51his elbow is loose.
13:52It's not as much loose on this side, but it's definitely loose on this side here.
13:56Hands do rotate again all the way around.
13:57You've got your waist swivel, legs split, forward again, back motion, a little bit of
14:01a swivel, single hinge, rotation, rotation actually right here as well.
14:06And then he also has ankles.
14:07I don't know if you would call these really ankles.
14:09Where they've actually placed the ankles are much further up.
14:12He literally has kind of like a calf joint that allows the feet to move back and forth
14:16and you can also rock these slightly bit as well.
14:18All in all though, I mean, the price of admission, as they always really say, is really for me
14:23the Demogorgon.
14:25Even though again, like they are really essentially using the Beastman body, I can't really fault
14:28them for that.
14:29It would though have been interesting if they had found a way, devised a way that they could
14:32have maybe, I don't know how they would have really done it, if they had maybe used somehow
14:37the Lords of Power Beastman, just because again, he's got these cool little spikes on
14:40the side.
14:41That just seems to me like something that would be a little bit more ideally suited
14:43for the Demogorgon.
14:44But though considering, Demogorgon's got a lot of stuff going on up here.
14:48He's quite busy up top.
14:50So I don't think that there'd be a real way to incorporate that kind of armor just because
14:53obviously the pedals from the Venus Flytrap face would just really get in the way.
14:57You'd never really be able to rotate it.
14:59Obviously keeping it a little bit more refined for the original Beastman body would have
15:03made a little bit more sense.
15:04And obviously that's what they ended up doing.
15:05Those work really well for this guy.
15:06He's kind of again, got that bit of a purplish gray going on in the gold, I think works really
15:10well.
15:11The blue was jarring at first, but the more that I look at it, the more that I'm liking
15:14it.
15:15Then obviously with Skeletor, Skeletor is just again, using one of the more disappointing
15:19head sculpts of all the things that they had to choose.
15:21But I got to say though, like with the coloring that they approached the plastic with, the
15:25kind of the darker grayish blue, and now kind of more of the metallic dark purple works
15:29really well to almost compliment some of the flaws that Skeletor's face would have had
15:33in the first place.
15:35I didn't forget about you guys.
15:36I do have the studio lights cut off right now.
15:38Prior to that, Skeletor was taken a tan for about 10 minutes in front of the lamp light
15:43in the hopes that something would be glowing on his face.
15:45Whether you have your eyes open or you have your eyes closed for that matter, you'd be
15:48seeing the exact same thing right now.
15:50The figure unfortunately doesn't glow until you take yourself like a flashlight, bringing
15:55back my black light and shining it across the figure's face.
15:58The only thing again, that's going to be glowing is the same thing that was glowing earlier
16:01when everything was on.
16:02It's only though his eyes.
16:04They don't hold any bit of the heat or they don't hold any bit of the light.
16:07So the moment though you turn off your flashlight will also douse as well.
16:11Anything that glows on Skeletor's face.
16:13Welcome back to where we were.
16:15Just go before we jump over to the rotisserie.
16:17There was one last thing I did want to talk about, and that involves the flame effects
16:20that come and include with the Demogorgon.
16:21Remember, I tried my best earlier to fit these around his arms and I thought with the way
16:26that these were shaped, they could fit a little further up their arm.
16:30But I then thought if I removed his hand, for example, let's just do this right now.
16:33I thought, for example, okay, if I remove the hand, I'm going to do this right now.
16:37I've removed the hand.
16:38This could then easily fit up his forearm.
16:40I'm going to do that right now.
16:42And I thought if there's a way, even if I put a little bit higher up, I thought if there
16:46was a way, see how this fits though around the hole.
16:49And then if I went back and took the peg of the hand, hey, I could plug everything together.
16:53Unfortunately though, it doesn't work.
16:55And before you let me know down below in the comments, how it does actually work, see how
16:59there's just too much of a plastic now dividing the forearm and the hand.
17:03There's no way you can attach the hand back in place.
17:05But there is one other way that you can actually attach this onto the Demogorgon.
17:09And in fact, it's actually listed on the back of the packaging.
17:12If you just put this back where you found it, always put things back where you find
17:16them.
17:17You actually take yourself the flame and you clip it on his arm like this.
17:21And then you take this piece right here and you clip it onto his finger.
17:25And in fact, that's not me just being creative.
17:27That's actually in fact shown on the back of the packaging.
17:29So you could do that as well.
17:31Although it will now look like he's got himself like a flaming ring on his hand, but at least
17:34it does have a place to store the flames.
17:37He does also have, unfortunately now, no way to hold his weapon.
17:40So like if, for example, you want to take the weapon, you could put it in there, but
17:44it just feels like the quarters are pretty close.
17:46You can see like, for example, like he still holds it okay, but it just gets really close
17:50to the ring.
17:51I'd be really worried that that would snap.
17:52But there is at least a way that you can attach the flame onto the Demogorgon if you didn't
17:57want to actually have it on the weapon instead.
17:59And of course you can just simply rinse and repeat the steps by then adding that on the
18:02other side of the figure's body as well.
18:04If you didn't want to have it always on the weapon, at least they came up with a clever
18:08enough way to attach it somewhere on the figure's body.
18:12We've had quite the adventure, haven't we?
18:14Taking a trip down to the Upside Down and what we brought back with us is a pretty gnarly
18:17looking Demogorgon.
18:20Demogorgon and Skeletor for that matter, aren't really doing much differently when it comes
18:23to the molds.
18:24Demogorgon, in fact, as already seen in this review, does get a lot more of the budget
18:27allocated to him because he gets himself brand new hands, brand new feet, not to mention
18:32as well the Venus Flytrap face.
18:34He's of course still using the Beastman body.
18:36Come to really think about it, I think it would be probably the best body they could
18:39have used.
18:40Not only does he have obviously the furry body that would work really well with the
18:43head sculptor they've now given him, but also as well I think the armor works probably the
18:47best for him too.
18:48I was also thinking too, like if they had for example used Mermans, but again you would
18:52have still the same problem as the Lords of Power Beastman, that that collar piece has
18:57to be high enough just to kind of give him a presence, but it can't be too high that
19:00it competes with obviously the head articulation, which the figure luckily still possesses.
19:06He does have a pretty decent looking weapon that he wields, whatever weapon that actually
19:09is, and he does also have the flame effects that can go either on the weapon or they can
19:13clip onto the figure's forearms, which is also a nice touch on Mattel's part.
19:17Skeletor isn't really all that interesting, I mean other than really just the fact that
19:20they're using the version 1 Skeletor, which I still feel is the wrong choice for head.
19:25I feel still, I mean I don't know why they're so against the idea of not just re-releasing
19:29that Skeletor that got packed along with his bird Screech.
19:32I feel still it's the best Skeletor head that we've gotten, and yet for reasons unknown,
19:37probably reasons and ideas they got from the upside down, they just choose to do the opposite.
19:42Let's just release the same Skeletor head in version 1, instead of rather getting the
19:47better looking head, because they already have the molding for it, why don't they just
19:50have used that head instead?
19:53One thing though at least, is if you don't like the head like I don't like the head,
19:57at least the paint I think compliments it, so it does actually make it look a little
20:00bit better, and really that's saying a lot, considering I wasn't a big fan of the version
20:051 head sculpt in the first place.
20:07It still has though pretty soft armor, I noticed though when it came to the Demogorgon that
20:11the plastic didn't seem as soft, I don't know why Skeletor gets first of all the inferior
20:16head, but also gets very thin, very flimsy plastic for his armor.
20:20Big thank you once again though to The Indo Nerd, who hooked me up with the Master Universe
20:25and Stranger Things Skeletor and Demogorgon, do me a solid, do him a solid, click the link
20:30down below and follow his channel, he's actually just recently done I think a couple of Walmart
20:34restock shop hunts, if you guys are into that kind of stuff, definitely you'll be into the
20:38stuff that he's also doing over there as well.
20:40If you guys like the stuff that I'm doing over here though, make sure you hit this video
20:44with a like, if you're loving the content you guys want, and certainly want to stick
20:46around for more, I hope to think if you haven't already subscribed that you're already dashing
20:51over to the upside down, which is actually just below this video, and hit that subscribe
20:55and just next to that, not the upside down but the sideways down, no that doesn't make
20:59any sense at all, hit next to that though, the bell notification, I know it's an unnecessary
21:04thing but it's the necessary thing to at least ensure that you're going to be in the know
21:07whenever new videos are popping up, and we're always going to be having a look at a lot
21:10more things as the rest of the week progresses, so making sure you're coming back here on
21:14a regular basis.
21:15As always guys, thanks for watching, see you guys next time.
