00:00The Conservatives want to talk about Labour's imaginary tax rises,
00:04to avoid a conversation about the real state of our economy.
00:08Low growth leading to higher taxes. That is their record.
00:14Fresh out of ideas for how to grow our economy,
00:17they've turned time and time again to the only lever that they have left.
00:21The tax lever.
00:23Now the tax system does have a role to play in any plan for growth,
00:27which is why I have promised to cap corporation tax at its current rate for the duration of the
00:31next Parliament. Ultimately there is only one sustainable way to get our public services on
00:37a strong footing and to make working people better off. And that is economic growth.
00:44The manifesto that we published last week is a manifesto for wealth creation.
00:52And I don't believe that you can tax and spend your way to higher growth.
00:57Growth will always rely on a successful private sector.
01:01We have campaigned as a pro-business party and we will govern as a pro-business party.
01:09Thanks to Keir's leadership, we have changed the Labour Party, to arrive at a moment when
01:14we can truthfully say that Labour is a natural party of British business.
01:19Labour's alternative is what I call Securonomics.
01:23An economic approach grounded in the understanding that the foremost responsibilities of government
01:29today are to offer economic stability, productive partnership with business,
01:35and security for working people in a turbulent world.
01:39Even in challenging economic times, I see potential wherever I go.
01:45In the businesses that I visit, including many of yours.
01:48The entrepreneurs that I meet, including many of you.
01:52And the young people in our universities pushing ahead with ground-breaking research.
01:57And I see the high barriers to success too.
02:01Let's work together to tear down those barriers.
02:04To make that mission a reality.
02:07So here is my pledge to you.
02:11Labour is open to business.
02:14And with Labour, Britain will be open to business once again.
02:18Thank you very much.
