01:00Playoff beat, say you gotta know
01:03Let's go Celtics, let's go
01:05We are motherfuckers, Celtics, let's go
01:15Hello and welcome to Still Potable.
01:17We are here live in Dallas at Dealey Plaza,
01:20and we're here to talk about Boston Celtics basketball, folks.
01:23They are up three games to nothing in the NBA Finals.
01:26We are on the off day between games three and four,
01:30and B-Rob, we had the privilege of going to practice today
01:33at the NBA Finals, and what did we learn?
01:36We learned Kristos Perzingis is not done yet.
01:40He wants to get on the party, Packard.
01:42He is hanging out, shooting a lot of shots
01:45in the practice that's visible to the entire media.
01:47They had to know what was going on.
01:48The Celtics posted the clips of him shooting as well.
01:52Doing a lot of shooting off of one foot,
01:55but seemed loose.
01:58And the team is actually having a shoot-around on Friday morning as well.
02:01So I don't know, Packard. This is, I mean, this is
02:05not down the list of storylines in this series at this point
02:08with the Celtics up 3-0, but it is interesting to me that they're still
02:11working towards getting him back on the floor at this point,
02:14where it's clear that they don't need him in this series anymore,
02:17but it'd obviously be a nice morale boost for him
02:20to get out there for 10 minutes and close the deal in front of his former team.
02:24And it wouldn't hurt. There's no reason to mess around.
02:27Win the championship! If you can use Kristos Perzingis,
02:31it'll be incredibly helpful, and so
02:34it'll be interesting to see if he plays.
02:37Is there anything else we learned from the media today?
02:41In listening to the Mavericks talk,
02:44they seemed kind of resigned to their fate.
02:46They had a lot of responses about having to learn from this,
02:49about kind of getting better next year.
02:52Not a lot of hoorah, like, win one for the Gipper,
02:55we're going to get back into this series.
02:58Maybe that was just me reading into it, but it wasn't like the Mavericks,
03:01especially Kidd and Kyrie, seemed kind of resigned
03:05to what was going to happen to them.
03:08Yeah, I think adjustment-wise, I'm not sure where you go to
03:11at this point, and Kyrie, you know, he
03:14played his best in Game 3, pretty much as well as you're going to
03:17hope you're going to get from him in this series if you're Dallas,
03:20and it didn't matter. I guess the only thing that could happen now,
03:23Packard, and Luka, I guess, kind of spoke to this of being like,
03:26you know, I have to be better, I have to be more mature.
03:29Do you think he's going to start defending?
03:32Is Jason Kidd and Brian Windhorst going to fire him up enough
03:35where he is going to be
03:38trying for more of the games here? I don't know.
03:41I don't know if that's going to be a development that we see in a Game 4,
03:44or if that's something that's going to happen next year,
03:47or even ever for him, but that's, I guess, the storyline
03:50to watch here on Friday night.
03:53I do apologize for the motorcycle sounds in the background.
03:56I have insisted that we record this at the Grassy Knoll,
03:59and that's going to come with some consequences, folks.
04:02So if there's sacrifice audio, hand up.
04:05That is on me. We'll dive into all the brilliance that is
04:08the Texas Post Depository and the Grassy Knoll later.
04:11Another fun little thing today
04:14at Media Day, it's like a lot of the guys
04:17talk and don't normally talk. I got to be there for
04:20Xavier Tillman, and he was asked about his first conversation
04:23with Joe Mazzuolo, and I feel like we've heard this before,
04:26but it just made me laugh today. Joe Mazzuolo's message to
04:29Xavier Tillman. Joe Mazzuolo,
04:32one of the weirdest guys I've ever really encountered,
04:35told Xavier Tillman, don't be weird.
04:38And I just thought that was fantastic advice
04:41from Joe Mazzuolo, who I also learned today from Derek White,
04:44frequently walks around the practice facility
04:47just with no socks and shoes on, always ready to get
04:50in a grapple. So that was some fun
04:53little nuggets from myself at Media Day.
04:56Yeah, Derek also had a nice little gem. I think he was asked about
04:59one of his favorite moments with Joe Mazzuolo over time,
05:02and he referenced how he congratulated
05:05Joe about his Coach of the Month award a couple months back,
05:08and Joe replied to him that no one cares,
05:11which I think is
05:14at least to know that Joe's the same way with the media as he is with his players
05:17on that front with that award. But yeah, there was a lot of
05:20clearly pretty positive vibes today, pretty loose
05:23vibes, and why not?
05:26This is a team. I think everyone
05:29top-down, whether it's, I think Tatum
05:32took a fun, playful shot at the media as well in his press conference
05:35in terms of when he was brought up how,
05:38he's supposed to run a historic run right now if they pull it off in Game 4,
05:41and he was like, oh yeah, that's pretty cool, but
05:44you guys will probably knock us about our path and we'll have to do it again next year.
05:47So that's kind of just where
05:50they're at at this point,
05:53but the killer instinct still appears to be there at this point.
05:56So based on vibes, based on what's happened
05:59in the first three games of the series, what are you, I'm going to ask you
06:02for a general prediction for tomorrow.
06:05How did the Celtics come out? Do they come out with that
06:08killer mentality? Joe Mazzullo would say they're that much closer
06:11to winning the championship, so they're also that much
06:14closer to losing the championship.
06:17I don't know if that makes any sense, but I could see the Celtics
06:20maybe taking their foot off the gas a little bit as we saw in the fourth quarter
06:23of Game 3. I can also see the Mavericks, mainly
06:26Luka Doncic, who's clearly...
06:29I'm not making excuses, but I don't think he's in full health right now,
06:32and maybe he takes the path of just like
06:35not giving up because you're down 3-0 and no one's ever come back.
06:38Kyrie Irving, certainly capable of doing that.
06:41What are your thoughts about how both teams come out in Game 4?
06:44Yeah, I think we're going to get one last push
06:47from the Mavericks early in the game, and I think
06:50a big part of Game 3 is the fact that the Celtics took that punch and then
06:53erased that big lead by the end of the first quarter.
06:56And so, the crowd will probably be into it,
06:59but at the same time, ticket prices have come down.
07:02In fact, I wonder how many... if a bunch of Celtics fans
07:05try to nab a lot of those tickets and then just the atmosphere
07:08in the American Airlines Center is just not one that
07:11is still going to be
07:14giving Dallas any kind of a boost.
07:17Yeah, but the in-game narrator will beg the fans to cheer.
07:20The rim mics will be loud and obnoxious.
07:23There will be a weird Mavericks horse leading the laser light show.
07:26I didn't mention this on last night's podcast,
07:29but the guitar anthem was pretty fucking rad.
07:32That was nice.
07:35They had a nice red, white, and blue lights going on,
07:38and I believe the name of the guitarist was
07:41The Guitar Slayer, which I thought was pretty cool.
07:44And he played the lineup intros too, right?
07:47He was standing on the something, playing guitar stuff the entire time.
07:50I did think that was pretty cool, so shout out to him.
07:53About an hour ago, I asked you guys
07:56in the Still Potable chat for
07:59questions, comments. Oh, I should mention,
08:02we're here on CLNS, and we're brought to you by
08:05Fry's Picks and Game Time. Use the promo code CLNS
08:08if you want to save some money from those fine partners,
08:11and we're here on the CLNS YouTube page.
08:14If you guys are watching for free on CLNS YouTube, go to patreon.com
08:17slash stillpotable to get all of our content as we're covering
08:20the NBA Finals here in Dallas here
08:23at Dealey Plaza, steps away from the grassy knoll.
08:26But we asked the fine folks,
08:29the people who are involved in the Patreons for
08:32questions just about an hour ago about the NBA Finals.
08:35We got 40 replies. Now, that might
08:38be an impressive amount, and I have to say, 20 of those
08:41replies come from LegendJoshuaB, so we got
08:4421 replies, which I still think is
08:47impressive. How many questions do we give JoshB?
08:50Do we have the filter for Josh here? I'm going to try and do my
08:53best to filter them out. Some of them are just
08:56personal ad hominem attacks against perceived enemies.
08:59So we'll start with those.
09:02Dave24, what are you doing?
09:05Yeah, let's maybe
09:08start with non-JoshB and then
09:11we'll get to the JoshuaB section of the podcast.
09:14Scrolling, scrolling.
09:17This one's just from Joe.
09:20Don't you hate pants?
09:23In the Dallas heat? Yes, yes I do.
09:26Thank you for the Simpsons reference.
09:29Do you remember that ESPN left Derek White
09:32off the top 100 players?
09:35Where does he fall next year in that list?
09:38I guess I'm more intrigued by that now after this season.
09:41I think he's top 70, top 60?
09:44I would say definitely top 50. Do you think they have
09:47five players in the top 50? Yes.
09:50Where does ChrisTapsPorzingis fall?
09:53Honestly, maybe Porzingis is the guy
09:56that's not in the top. I would put White ahead of Porzingis in
09:59terms of just based on durability and defense
10:02at this point.
10:05The numbers obviously are what they are, but
10:08for Derek White to go into a contract year right now after
10:11coming off of this season, he is going to be
10:14earning himself a mighty fine payday, whether it's from
10:17the Celtics or someone else, but as far as just
10:20staying in the league, I think he's just
10:23spring-rocketed himself to a place
10:26where he's not just a starter now, he's one of the better
10:29role-player starters in the league at this point.
10:32What a luxury to have him as a fourth or possibly fifth option for this team.
10:35It's pretty wild.
10:38I've just been thinking about the team building.
10:41They were able to get him for Romeo Lankford
10:44and a first-round pick and a pick swap.
10:47Top one protected.
10:50That's just an absolutely
10:53wild underpay
10:56for Derek White, who's been instrumental
10:59in this team. Kudos to Brad Stevens,
11:02who I think Bob Myers, I heard today, suggested
11:05that he was the true MVP finals MVP,
11:08which is classic GM speech.
11:11That's absolutely ridiculous.

13:09Here's a good question from a few years ago.
13:12If you could draft a whole new NBA team, would you draft
13:15Giannis or Brad Stevens?
13:18Whoa. Didn't Chris Manning say that?
13:21That was one. I would probably still go with
13:24Giannis. Probably Giannis, but it's getting closer.
13:27It's getting closer. Brad is making up some ground
13:30with this construction.
13:33This question's from Joe. If Joe were to throw a new
13:37wrinkle in for Game 4, what do you think it might be?
13:40Oh. Zone.
13:4324 minutes of zone to open the first half.
13:46I don't know. It's like, why change anything that's
13:49working? They've just been able to stay in their base
13:52defense and guard Luke and Kyrie one-on-one for this
13:55entire series, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
13:58You've got, like, them being pretty efficient. Not
14:01really efficient. Being decent volume scorers in Game 3
14:04and the Celtics were still able to withstand that,
14:07and I just don't see the need for any sort of wrinkle.
14:10The wrinkle might be just bringing Chris Tapps back.
14:13Yeah. I mean, that would be a pretty big deal because
14:16Toman clearly gave you all you could hope for in Game 3
14:19from a defensive standpoint, so
14:22trying out poor thing, even if it is for 10-15 minutes,
14:25that could be a situation where they might have to pull
14:28the plug on it quickly if he just isn't able to move as
14:31well as you would hope, but beyond that,
14:34yeah, you know, Patrick, this is as
14:37big of a story of the series as, like, Lucas struggles and Kyrie
14:40struggles, like, the Mavs supporting cast has been absolute
14:43trash, offensively in particular,
14:46and until they prove otherwise, and maybe they'll start hitting some shots
14:49and then you have to adjust if you're Joe Mazzullo, but until that happens,
14:52you just play the cards that have gotten you here to this
14:55point. Yeah, we saw a lot more Tim Hardaway Jr., a lot more JJ
14:58Why, by the way? That's a very good question.
15:01They went away from Derrick Jones. Like, Derrick Jones Jr. hasn't been very effective,
15:04but what other options do they really have?
15:07I mean, Hardy over, like... Well, Hardy got some more minutes as well.
15:10He played, like, four minutes, though.
15:13He played 11 guys last night. Yeah, maybe more Exum is the
15:16answer? I don't know. It does feel like Joe,
15:19and maybe this is a result instead of process-based
15:22analysis, and Joe would be furious with me for saying this, but it does feel
15:25like Joe is severely out-coaching JJ,
15:28not JJ. What the kid's name? Jason
15:31Kidd. Jay Kidd. JJ Kidd.
15:34Speaking of, B Chris asks,
15:37where does Joe Mazzullo now rank among coaches,
15:40and do you think it catches on that everyone's just going to be showing
15:43people getting choked out to teach a message?
15:46Yeah, I think this
15:49certainly safely puts him in the top 10 in the league,
15:52maybe closer to top 5 than top 10 at this point.
15:55Yeah, if you win a championship, I feel like you have to be...
15:58You know, you've got Spoh up there, you've got, you know, like, the Michael Malone's
16:01of the world, depending on what you think of Pop these days,
16:04whether there's a drop-off or not of him, but
16:07tactically, he has... There's been very few...
16:10I mean, clearly you don't have any question marks
16:13when you go 16-2 during a finals run, but
16:16certainly there's been a lot he's done that's really helped his team,
16:19and for them to come through in those crunch time spots
16:22along the way here has been big,
16:25and tactically, what he's done with, like, putting
16:28Drew in the dunker spot and things like that to really
16:31take advantage of what the Mavs have tried to do, I think he
16:34deserves some credit for that. Yeah, and I think he's...
16:37All the questions about, like, timeout and things like that,
16:40which I think we're so overblown
16:43because people get so concerned about regular season
16:46games and, like, possibly not having it.
16:49The fact that the Celtics have won so many close games
16:52during this playoff run, I think
16:55shows the preparation they do in terms of, like,
16:58we want you to be ready for absolutely anything, we want
17:01the unexpected to happen, and I think
17:04Mazzullo deserves a lot of credit because it feels like that's what he
17:07stresses of being like, anything can happen, you need to be ready
17:10for whatever this game throws at you. You give up a 22 run
17:13in the NBA Finals, make a play and figure out what's going to happen
17:16and it feels like throughout this entire playoff run,
17:19when they have had these moments where they haven't, like, performed
17:22up to their expectations, they've done a very good job
17:25of answering the bell, whether it's game one of the Pacers
17:28series, of figuring out just a way to win,
17:31and I think Mazzullo deserves a lot of credit
17:34just because that's what the whole process
17:37is, is like, you guys need to be ready for absolutely anything,
17:40we're going to lean into the uncomfortable, and there's been plenty of moments
17:43where the Celtics could have been uncomfortable, but they've found ways to win,
17:46I'm going to give credit to Joe for that.
17:49And how much do you think that is also personnel, too,
17:52of, like, having the guys now, of like, you know,
17:55Oh yeah, the Celtics are extremely talented basketball team,
17:58No, but like, smart in those moments,
18:01broad in those moments, I feel like those are guys, over time, where
18:04it just wasn't, they
18:07wouldn't make questionable decisions or try to do a little bit too much
18:10out of their comfort zone, where now
18:13everyone seems to just, like, know their role in the
18:16spot of being like, okay, I'm there for the kickouts,
18:19if you're Drew Holiday or Al, or
18:22now Jalen, I think, is just in his comfort zone of getting to the rim,
18:25looking for the kickout first, over the finish,
18:28it is, just like, everyone,
18:31it took a while for a lot of people on this team, but
18:34everyone seems to be there during this run.
18:37We have a question from Ben F.
18:40Not including the town, which Boston-based movie
18:43do you think Missoula is most likely to force the Celtics to watch?
18:46My immediate answer is...
18:49Fever pitch?
18:52It could be fever pitch, he doesn't strike me as a rom-com kind of guy,
18:55he's not really, my immediate answer was Boondock Saints,
18:58because I don't really remember the plot to that,
19:01I think he should just show them goodwill hunting.
19:04Yeah, where do you think he stands on goodwill hunting?
19:07Yeah, you guys are a bunch of geniuses who need to leave town to fulfill your destiny,
19:10and it's not your fault.
19:13But no, he does hold people accountable, so it is your fault.
19:16That's a good question.
19:19Could see him going either way on that one.
19:22Another one from Ben, is Luka Doncic fated to be this generation's
19:25James Harden?
19:28I think that's a little harsh.
19:31Obviously Luka does not have the best series.
19:34But this is his first appearance in the finals.
19:37James Harden has been to one finals.
19:40When he was a sixth man.
19:43When he was a sixth man, he was not the kind of leader of that team.
19:46He failed in the playoffs.
19:49I do think there's some similarities in terms of, especially with Luka scoring
19:52eight points in the three-fourth quarter so far,
19:55not coming up down the stretch.
19:58But I don't think this is the end of Luka.
20:01I think he's certainly more likely to come back.
20:04I think he's too talented of a player.
20:07Certainly I think he needs to be in better shape.
20:10I don't know how much injury is going on right now.
20:13I also just don't think the Mavericks are a very talented team surrounding him.
20:16And I think if Nico Harrison puts better players around him,
20:19I think Luka Doncic and the Mavericks will have a better chance of getting
20:22back to the finals and winning.
20:25You could honestly say that Luka has done more in the playoffs than Harden has,
20:28period, to this point.
20:31Harden, for every good game he's had in the playoffs,
20:34has had two or three duds in clutch spots.
20:37And Luka has got a team here now that no one expected to get to the finals.
20:40But with that said,
20:43there are defensively the same questions are there.
20:46And I do wonder, what can they add to this Dallas team?
20:50Kyrie, I think, is probably going to get worse as opposed to getting better
20:53at this stage of his career.
20:56And they spent all their picks to get rid of Grant Williams,
20:59get PJ Washington, and Daniel Gafford.
21:02Derek Lively is going to have to really develop well.
21:05They have a lot of reliance on him getting a lot better.
21:08And he hasn't really shown in his playoffs.
21:11But he is a rookie and he is 19 years old.
21:14So I think it's going to be interesting.
21:17I don't think we can fully slander Luka
21:20as much as Chad and the person who asked that question
21:23is wanting us to slander Luka at this point.
21:26It's a fair question, though. I want to keep an eye on him for the long term.
21:29Okay, let's dive into the Joshua B. questions.
21:32Who's the best player in the finals?
21:35I'm going to say Jalen.
21:38Who are second through tenth best players in the finals?
21:41I'm going to say Jalen, Jason, Drew,
21:44Luka, Derek White,
21:47Al Horford,
21:50Xavier Tillman,
21:53Kyrie Irving, Sam Hauser,
21:56Kristaps Porzingis,
21:59and Daniel Gafford.
22:02The definitive list.
22:05Nailed it.
22:08Making fun of Luka from Josh B.
22:11Asking if Luka is going to play in Game 4.
22:14Oh, did you see the Jeff Van Gundy news, by the way, today?
22:17I saw Jeff Van Gundy at practice. Yes, he was.
22:20But I did not see any news about him.
22:23So I believe Mark Stein reporting that the Clippers
22:26are looking to add him to Tyloo staff
22:29as a prominent top assistant.
22:32Are we sure that wasn't just leaked by some sort of Jeff Van Gundy?
22:35What's his relationship with Mark Stein?
22:39Fair to ask.
22:52It's a good team to pick in terms of trying to generate some leverage.
22:55The Lakers are not as much of a good team
22:58because they are what you call a poverty franchise.
23:01I take no joy in saying that.
23:04But I wonder if Jeff will talk to us on the way out the door.
23:07He's been in Boston here since he's been hired.
23:10If they do pull it off, I wonder if he will speak on the way out
23:13just to add some more clarity of his vision
23:16of how he saw things behind the scenes.
23:19This one's from Josh B.
23:22Are Drew and Derek White the best defensive backcourt of all time
23:25or among the best? Who would you have above that?
23:28I've done no planning and no research for this.
23:31I can't think of people who immediately come to mind
23:34as a better, more talented defensive backcourt.
23:37But I don't have the deep ball knowledge
23:40that I think you or Jake have.
23:43In recent memory,
23:46you had two all-defensive guys in the backcourt.
23:49How many teams have had that, period?
23:52In my lifetime, I'd imagine next to none.
23:55I'm just trying to think, over the last 20 years,
23:58who was considered the best defensive guard? Gary Payton?
24:01I don't remember any shooting guards that Gary Payton played with
24:04that was known.
24:07Payton and Hershey. I don't think Hershey Hawkins was much a defender.
24:10Drexler and Porter with the Blazers in the early 90s,
24:13that's a pretty good defensive backcourt.
24:16Do you count Scottie and Michael as a backcourt?
24:19Yeah, that's true.
24:22But I certainly think that Drew and Derek are such a luxury, man.
24:25They just do everything.
24:29Maybe Brad Stephens is the final MVP.
24:37Talking about the national media,
24:40not giving credit to this,
24:43it is kind of crazy.
24:46I think Jay and I were talking about this when we walked over the arena today,
24:49and I think I saw 89% of the bets were on the Mavericks
24:52this series.
24:55I understand it somewhat in that
24:58Jimmy Butler was hurt, Donovan Mitchell was hurt,
25:01Tyree Salaburton left,
25:04but it was just such a rush to discredit the Celtics and anoint
25:07some team from the Western Conference, whether it was the Nuggets,
25:10then the Timberwolves, then the Mavericks.
25:13We're watching a historically great basketball team
25:16that potentially could go 80-20 as the best net rating ever.
25:19It's kind of shocking how,
25:22and I just don't know why people wanted to search for a reason
25:25not to believe in them,
25:28but it feels like that's been the general approach of the national media
25:31heading into these finals.
25:34Yeah, I think it's just easier.
25:37They want stuff to debate, and it's tough to debate.
25:40I guess you could debate where they stand greatest,
25:43but that's a debate for after they win, and it's easier
25:46now to just try to knock them down a few pegs and really question,
25:49you know, are they really done here?
25:52But now, when they're on the verge of having the fourth-best
25:55playoff record in NBA history,
25:58then those conversations seem foolish because this is a team
26:01that matches up with, like, they've done this all regular season.
26:04This isn't like a coming-out-of-nowhere-everything-came-together situation.
26:07This was like, nope, this is what the metrics said they would be in the regular season,
26:10and now they're living up to it in the postseason.
26:13The NBA Finals are here, and I can't think of a better time

27:40I'm going to read this one from Josh Weave because it's flattering to me.
27:43As a new lawyer and one of the preeminent voices of Celtics Nation,
27:46Jam, do you ever aspire to be a judge
27:49so you can condemn the national media's coverage of the Celtics
27:52while simultaneously condemning a criminal offender to a sentence?
27:55No. It doesn't seem like a fun position,
27:58more for the latter part.
28:01I can condemn the national media for my position as a professional sports fan right now.
28:04I don't need to put on a judicial robe.
28:07But that was a fun one.
28:10Would you ever want to be a judge, B-Rob?
28:13No. No.
28:16It's a real burden. Seems like a lot.
28:19My dad was a judge for a while. He did not like it.
28:22He just had to deal with people shoplifting steaks from a supermarket.
28:25That doesn't seem like a good time.
28:28That story is about the one time I watched my dad.
28:31Ari asks, as a podcast community, can we raise money to buy the Bucks
28:34front office plastic rings for gifting us Drew?
28:37It's a nice idea, Ari.
28:40But how much money do you need to raise to buy four or five people plastic rings?
28:43I think you could probably donate that yourself.
28:46But do you think they feel stupid for
28:49gifting the Celtics Drew holiday?
28:52Yes. I agree. I think.
28:55There's no way they do not.
28:59If you're the Bucks now, I don't know how you
29:02take down. You don't have anything else to add to your team now.
29:05You're relying on
29:08Lillard and Bill. All those guys just not to
29:11age to the point where
29:14the fall off is too much to match this.
29:17I guess we never saw these teams go head to head at full strength.
29:20But at the same time, when is that going to happen now for the Bucks
29:23given what the track record of those injuries now are?
29:26The regular season matters.
29:29It's always been in the NBA
29:32and that's why I love basketball.
29:35It is the best meritocracy of all the sports.
29:38If you're dominant in the regular season, generally that results
29:41in you being dominant in the playoffs.
29:44Building up championship habits,
29:47being prepared for all these moments.
29:50There's a reason why repeated success is rewarded in basketball.
29:53The Bucks all season, despite starting
29:5633-3 or whatever the record was
29:59when they fired Griffin, it wasn't 33-3.
30:02That would be an amazing start.
30:05It was good, but they never had a good defense this year.
30:08It certainly would have been a more challenging opponent.
30:11But I think the Celtics, there's no reason to doubt them
30:14at this point just because of their continued dominance
30:17for the entire year.
30:20Millie's there. Philly obviously thinks they can go get someone.
30:23But even that situation with Embiid now,
30:26we know how that's gone the last few years.
30:29Embiid's entering the wrong side of 30.
30:32Then the rest, the up-and-coming, the feisty Pacers,
30:35all these teams are like, yeah, they give it all a shot,
30:38but it's hard to see any team
30:41beating this core group in a seven-game series anytime soon.
30:44We've gotten to the junk portion of the questions.
30:48Yeah, sure. I'll give a call.
31:00I don't see why you have to pick.
31:03I was always a big fan of Baltic and Mediterranean
31:06just because I felt like I liked having a little purple.
31:09The first ones, you build up some hotels on there.
31:12It's a nice little money generator.
31:15Yeah, I've played way better board games.
31:18Monopoly takes forever. It's not good.
31:21Gimme Catan. Yeah, Catan's better.
31:24I've played some way nerdier games.
31:27Branch out, folks. You don't have to play Monopoly anymore.
31:30T-Money, the famous T-Money asks,
31:33what is fun to do in Dallas?
31:36You're looking at it, folks.
31:39Dallas is a weird city. There's nothing really going on
31:42in the downtown. It's very spread out. It's very hot.
31:45Very hot?
31:48I don't know. I've only been here for less than 24 hours.
31:51Barbecue?
31:54Yeah. I do hate pants.
31:57And Jeff asks,
32:00is Luca responsible for JFK?
32:03Did you guys investigate? That's why we're here, Jeff.
32:06November 23, 1963.
32:09A special motorcade starts down on Elm Street,
32:12right about here. Well, it didn't start there.
32:15It started at the airport.
32:18JFK is doing his Texas tour, trying to, you know,
32:21reassure things up before the 1964 election.
32:24Who's in the 6th floor of the Texas Book Depository
32:27up there? Lee Harvey Oswald.
32:30Now, he brought in a large,
32:33what looked to be a gun. We don't know if it was a gun.
32:36A large newspaper covering.
32:39And so the motorcade turns onto here.
32:42I forget the name of this road. I think it's still Elm Street.
32:45Shots ring out. Boom, right there. X.
32:48Albert Sapruder is standing on the grassy knoll
32:51right behind us, filming this on his 8mm camera.
32:5426 seconds of footage. The only person
32:57to get the entire document on film.
33:00And now,
33:03B-Rob, you're not, and Sean, I'm clearly way
33:06much more of a JFK conspiracy nerd. As soon as I got to Dallas,
33:09I was like, we gotta go to Dealey Plaza. And everyone else was like,
33:12yeah, no, I just think it's kind of a road.
33:15This is where it all went down, folks.
33:18My first reaction into being in Dealey Plaza is that
33:21from the Book Depository to here, kind of an
33:24easy shot. I thought, I was made to believe that
33:27there's no way the man could pull it off.
33:30I think it's possible. But, we're not going to be able to get this in camera.
33:33There is an industrial train
33:36line right there
33:39that is in clear distance of where the second
33:42shot rang out, about 20 feet that way.
33:45And that is where the fatal shot was shot by some member of the CIA.
33:48My theory is that Lee Harvey Oswald
33:51was a patsy, and that the CIA,
33:54the anti-Castro Cubans, and the mafia
33:57conspired together to take out Kennedy
34:00and they put Lee Harvey Oswald in
34:03kind of a sleeper agent.
34:06Now I'm rambling. Now I'm getting a little bit excited.
34:09But why was Lee Harvey Oswald allowed to defect to Russia?
34:12So give up his American citizenship, right?
34:15This is the middle of the Cold War. The Bay of Pigs just happened.
34:18We just had 10 days in October in the Cuban Missile Crisis.
34:21And we're just letting a Russian sympathist
34:24come back. And the CIA and everyone just lets him come back
34:27and then starts giving him jobs and has all sorts of contacts with him
34:30here in Dallas. Doesn't make any goddamn sense, B-Rob.
34:33You might have to start a podcast about this.
34:36Oh, if only there was a podcast about the JFK assassination.
34:39I do think we are the first podcast
34:42to be recorded at Daily Plaza about the Boston Celtics.
34:45I do think we're pioneers in that regard.
34:48Yeah.
34:51I enjoy seeing how geeked up you are about this, though.
34:54Yeah, I didn't realize how much of a giant f***ing nerd I was about this.
34:57I feel bad because I'm not getting all the facts correct.
35:00But yeah, here we are.
35:03Grassy Knoll.
35:06I think it's kind of unlikely.
35:09Because one of the main theories is that the second shooter
35:12was hanging out here on the Grassy Knoll.
35:15That just doesn't make any sense.
35:18No one would have seen a man with a gun.
35:21But it's that train tracks over there, overlooking.
35:24It's where the second shot was fired, over here.
35:27Tougher shot from the Texas Book Depository.
35:30Much easier shot from there.
35:33And it fits much more in line with the magic bullet theory.
35:36Now, I was explaining to my friends here the magic bullet theory.
35:39You guys don't know.
35:42The second shot goes through the back of JFK's neck,
35:45goes through the wrist, and then ricochets around.
35:48It makes no goddamn sense. It doesn't follow physics.
35:51I think a couple of months ago, they actually found another bullet
35:54that they had not included in the Warren Commission's investigation,
35:57which basically confirms there were more shots
36:00than in the actual investigation.
36:03There had to have been a second shooter, folks.
36:06And my guess is it was right on that goddamn f***ing bridge right there.
36:09And the whole world changed because of it, folks.
36:12We're about history.
36:15And we're about basically just allowing me to do my nerdy ideas.
36:18I think that's mostly what we're about.
36:21And so I thank you guys for indulging me.
36:24And we could be seeing more history tomorrow night.
36:27Yeah, we could. Revenge, some would say.
36:30For Dallas, the city of Dallas, taking one of
36:33New England's finest sons in JFK.
36:36The Sellecks came back and got revenge.
36:39And I thank Sam Sheehan for pioneering that too.
36:42You got anything else for us?
36:45That's all I got.
36:48I would say do your own research, folks.
36:51But the Warren Commission
36:54clearly has been lying to us for years.
36:57There are still files they won't release to the public.
37:00Actually, if you do want to listen to it,
37:03Rob Reiner, for some reason,
37:06the director of When Harry Met Sally and Soledad O'Brien
37:09recently had a 12-part podcast explaining everything.
37:12They do a pretty good job, folks.
37:15I never thought I'd say the phrase
37:18reporting live from Dealey Plaza.
37:21I'm Jan Packard.
37:24But for Brian B. Rob, Rob of MassLive.com,
37:27for me, for Sean behind the camera, for Jay King,
37:30who refused to come and experience any sort of cultural affairs.
37:33He's actually doing work and writing the story.
37:36But thank you guys for listening.
37:39We'll be back tomorrow for whatever happens after Game 4.
37:42And that's been Still Potable.
37:45Still Potable.
37:48Still Potable.
37:51Still Potable.
37:54Still Potable.
37:57Still Potable.
38:00Still Potable.
38:03Still Potable.
38:06Still Potable.
38:09Still Potable.
38:12Still Potable.
38:15Still Potable.
38:18Still Potable.
38:21Still Potable.
38:24Still Potable.
