00:00Thank you so much for making time to speak to us, really appreciate it.
00:02Of course.
00:03Saw the movie last night and I was, I mean, there's a lot of swimming
00:06and it sounds like you really put Daisy through her paces,
00:09even with putting her out into the, there was open swimming in the Black Sea,
00:13that kind of thing.
00:14I mean, were you surprised by, I mean, I was amazed by her commitment to that role
00:17and that she was so kind of game to do all that stuff.
00:21Were you surprised by that or why you cast her?
00:24I was surprised, actually, to the length that she went.
00:30And, but yeah, I knew that she had it, you know, in her somehow,
00:37like I felt so lucky when we got her to do the role.
00:40And we spoke early on and I said, you know,
00:45I really want to do this in the ocean as real as we can.
00:50And she was game for that.
00:51Like later on, I learned that she's actually scared of the ocean,
00:55swimming in the open ocean and she had to overcome that.
00:58And she trained for months, open sea swimming.
01:03So, but like what I feel with her, she's obviously a great actor,
01:10you know, I love her in the Star Wars films and all that,
01:12but she radiates some kind of a strength, I feel,
01:17that I'm imagining that Trudy Ederle had back in the day.
01:20And so I just felt she was perfect.
01:23I couldn't have asked for a better partner out there,
01:26you know, when we were out in the ocean.
01:27I mean, obviously I'm on a boat in a thick jacket,
01:30you know, she's in the 15, 16 degrees water,
01:32her lips blue and should we go again, you know?
01:36But it was just wonderful to work with her.
01:38Well, thank you for making time to speak to us.
01:40Really appreciate it.
01:41And so one thing about this is it looks like Daisy Ridley
01:46has really been put through her paces with this.
01:48And I mean, talking to the director and he said that
01:51she was thrown in the Black Sea and all that kind of stuff.
01:53Were you surprised?
01:54I mean, you've worked with so many great actors.
01:56Surprised by someone's commitment when they go into a film
01:59and really do that kind of stuff?
02:01The great ones give you the commitment.
02:03They really do.
02:03Those are the ones that you want to keep working with.
02:05And she waited a long time to make this movie.
02:07She passed another movie, Sonia Yochum.
02:09They believe a lot of people who got involved in this,
02:12when they read the script, they'd call me and say,
02:14Jerry, we got to be a part of this.
02:16A lot of our crew waited to get this movie made.
02:20And it took us a long year, a long time,
02:22nine years in the making from the time the book was optioned
02:25until I'm talking to you today.
02:29I mean, that's why we make movies for audiences.
02:32And this one was supposed to go to streaming.
02:35Yet it's the highest testing movie I've ever made.
02:38So audiences love this movie.
02:40And they applaud, they cry, they laugh.
02:44It's a great group experience.
02:45You want to see it on the big screen.
02:46It's a big, expansive movie done by a real visual artist in Yochum.
02:56So, yeah, it's a great movie.
02:57It's a great movie.
