00:00Can you give us the President's latest thinking on the border EO
00:03and what actions he plans to take?
00:04You've taken smaller,
00:06the targeted actions in the past few weeks.
00:09Yeah. How's it looking?
00:12So, look, you're right. The President has taken some actions,
00:15not just the past two weeks, but over the last three years,
00:17to deal with what we're seeing at the border,
00:20a decade, decades-long issue
00:23with a broken system at the border.
00:25As you know, just last week, that legislation,
00:29that bipartisan legislation that we believed,
00:32if the President had an opportunity to sign,
00:35sign that legislation,
00:36would have been the toughest, the fairest piece of legislation
00:38that we have seen to deal with the border in some time.
00:41And so it failed because Republicans,
00:42by their own admission,
00:44are putting electoral politics ahead of the American people.
00:48And there were things in that legislation
00:50that would have made a difference.
00:51And so it is unfortunate that it happened.
00:54And you saw from the President's statement,
00:55congressional Republicans do not care about securing the border
00:58or fixing America's broken immigration system.
01:00If they did, they would have voted
01:02for the toughest border enforcement in history.
01:04That comes directly from the President in a statement.
01:07We will continue, to your question,
01:09we'll continue to evaluate all options at hand
01:13and looking at what we can do within our authorities,
01:17within the President's authorities.
01:18Don't have anything to announce at this time,
01:21but it is unfortunate that Republicans
01:23who came to the table, who wanted to work out
01:26and deal with an issue, a challenging issue,
01:28the border, they voted against their own policies,
01:32their own interests, and put electoral politics first.
01:36And that is unfortunate.
01:38We're going to look at the option.
01:42Like we continue to do, and we have done,
01:44and you just mentioned just recently,
01:46we've taken some actions.
01:47We are going to look at all of our options
01:50and try to figure out what is the right thing
01:52to do on behalf of the American people.
01:55That is something that the President has been consistent
01:57on and will continue to do.
