00:01 Princess Beatrice is coming to join us this afternoon
00:04 to read to some of our reception.
00:05 Newborn children.
00:07 Hi.
00:08 She's going to be reading one of the nominations
00:10 from the Oscars Book Prize.
00:12 Picture books are just as important.
00:14 They can be shared with anyone of any age.
00:15 So much can be taught from a picture book.
00:18 This year's winner for Oscars Book Prize
00:20 was When Dinosaurs Walked the Earth by Sean Taylor,
00:22 illustrated by Zara Hicks.
00:23 We're really lucky to have a long-term partnership
00:25 with the school, where we're coming
00:26 to read the shortlisted books for another three weeks.
00:29 And then long-term, we plan to come back to the school
00:31 once a month with different volunteers from the site
00:34 to read to the kids.
00:35 We are back in the days where dinosaurs walked the Earth.
00:39 I got involved in Oscars Book Prize a very long time ago.
00:42 This year's winner of the prize particularly
00:44 keeps the reader guessing.
00:45 You never know really what's going to happen.
00:47 And it brings humor and a sense of adventure,
00:50 especially when dealing with dinosaurs.
00:52 But it's not as large as she thought.
00:54 Badasaurus can see her.
00:56 He bites the large prehistoric tree by mistake.
01:00 I grew up with an incredible mom as a children's author.
01:03 So stories really created that sense of imagination.
01:07 I really appreciate what stories can do,
01:09 that special quality time, that moment at the end of the day.
01:12 But also how important it is for reading in general,
01:15 for young people, and making sure
01:16 that we can do everything we can to really make sure
01:18 that these books really get into the hands of those
01:20 that need it most.
