00:03 Xander Shoffley Keith has had a world of talent for
00:06 as long as he has been on the PGA Tour.
00:09 A gold medal winner in Olympic golf, but that major title had eluded him
00:14 in any of the four majors finishing top ten in each of the four entering this week
00:19 at the 2024 PGA Championship.
00:22 But when all was said and done, a birdie putt on his 72nd hole of the week
00:27 goes around but then down as Xander Shoffley is a major champion for the first time.
00:33 How did he change the narrative around his game to ultimately end up the champion
00:38 of the PGA Championship at Valhalla?
00:40 >> Going into Valhalla, I mean, I was giving Xander zero credit and
00:46 I walk away giving him all the credit in the world.
00:48 Listening to his post round or post tournament press conference on Sunday,
00:54 he still remains so composed and obviously he was very emotional at that moment and
00:58 very relieved that he finally got over that hurdle in his career.
01:02 But here's a guy with all the controversy that's been swirling around golf and
01:06 how much of a beating he takes from the media week after week after week and
01:10 not being able to close for the last two years.
01:13 I mean, his last win was July of 2022.
01:17 For him to do it in such heroic fashion,
01:19 knowing he needed a birdie on the last hole, having to take that baseball swing
01:23 stance, getting the ball up there and then getting up and down.
01:26 I mean, it's been a long time since we've had a major end on the final putt.
01:31 I mean, it's been over two years.
01:33 So for Valhalla, the PGA of America and Xander to all close in such fashion,
01:39 it was just unbelievable theater and
01:41 I can't say enough good things about Xander in this moment.
