Should Taiwan Join the International Criminal Court?

The International Criminal Court, or ICC, was reportedly planning to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In Taiwan, some experts believe that joining the ICC could deter Chinese President Xi Jinping from taking the country by force.

On this episode of Zoom In Zoom Out, TaiwanPlus reporter Herel Hughes sits down with international law professor Kevin Chang. Kevin teaches at National Chengchi University in Taipei and previously served the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Australian government. We first zoom out to understand what the ICC is, then zoom in on what Taiwan would gain from submitting to ICC jurisdiction.
