Israel Attacks Lebanon; Hezbollah Responds to Launch Dozens of Rockets

An Israeli attack on a village in southern Lebanon on May 5, 2024, killed several people from the same family. Hezbollah then immediately launched rockets in response to Israel. This is what the Lebanese state media said. It is known that fighting has intensified in recent weeks, with Israel invading further into Lebanese territory.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has stepped up missile and drone attacks on military positions in northern Israel. Lebanon's National News Agency said the attack in Mais al-Jabal killed four people from one family. The figure updates previous reports of three people killed in attacks said to have been carried out by Israeli aircraft.

A Lebanese security source, who asked not to be named, confirmed that the attack killed four civilians. Mais al-Jabal municipality head Abdelmoneim Shukair earlier told AFP that three people were killed, saying they were a couple and their son. Hezbollah, in a statement, said it fired dozens of Katyusha and Falaq rockets at Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel in response to the horrific crimes committed by Israel in Mais al-Jabal.

The Lebanese movement has repeatedly stated that only a ceasefire in Gaza will end its attacks on Israel. Both the United States and France have made diplomatic efforts to ease tensions on the Lebanon-Israel border.
