00:00Powering up services in electricity, water, assistance to farmers, and many more.
00:05These are just a few of the promises made by President Marcos Jr.
00:09during his visit yesterday in Piquit, North Cotabato.
00:13This is the story of Allan Francisco.
00:17President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. promised the public that the government has a plan
00:22to control or reduce the price of electricity amidst its rising demand.
00:28This is what the President said when he was interviewed by the media
00:31in Piquit, North Cotabato following his visit yesterday.
00:34Our consumption suddenly rose because of the heat.
00:40We were able to maintain it.
00:42That's why there are problems with other systems that we are targeting.
00:48We have plans and strategies to reduce the price of electricity, at least for now in this crisis time.
01:00One of the things he's doing is asking the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines
01:05to build transmission lines and this is what is expected to boost electricity,
01:10especially in areas that are not connected to the so-called grid.
01:13We are continuously asking the NGCP to build transmission lines that have been waiting for a long time.
01:24We are also building submarine cables so that if there is excess electricity in other areas,
01:32it can be brought to other areas that are lacking.
01:36President Marcos visited Cotabato because he prioritized the inauguration of
01:41the Malitubog-Maridagaw Irrigation Project Stage 2.
01:44President Marcos also mentioned the action of the government to expand the water supply
01:50in the middle of a phenomenon that is expected to hit a large part of Mindanao this year.
01:55The government continues to support farmers in Mindanao by providing farm machineries and equipment.
02:03The same goes for the arrangement of irrigation system and technology that will boost production.
02:09The aim here is to expand the irrigation system and that is what we are doing.
02:16This is a good example of what we have opened today.
02:20From the field, we will get machinery, farm equipment, including tractors and post-harvest facilities
02:34so that the farmers can have a better livelihood.
02:42They don't have to worry and the production cost will be lower so that they can earn more.
02:49This is the same thing that we've been trying to do.
02:52Alan Francisco for Pabansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
