00:03 - Talking about Paul Skeens now.
00:04 For those that don't know,
00:05 this is the darling down in the minors,
00:07 throwing over a hundred.
00:09 I mean, if he's throwing a hundred pitchers,
00:11 what's his ratio hang out to?
00:13 I think about 83 of them are flirting near,
00:15 are at a hundred or over.
00:18 We are lauding this.
00:19 We are lionizing it.
00:21 Joe, I'm asking the question straight away
00:23 and I hate to use it this way,
00:24 but what happens when the kid's arm falls off?
00:27 Everyone goes, "Oh, okay."
00:28 And they go on to the next thing.
00:29 We're sending such a mixed message.
00:31 All the social media is great.
00:33 He's a great kid.
00:33 He stayed after his start and stayed and signed autographs
00:36 for every single person in the line.
00:39 There's a minor league guy who's got,
00:40 "Yeah, take the bus, not get on a luxury plane."
00:43 He did that.
00:44 So the point I'm trying to make is,
00:46 Skeens is great.
00:46 Yeah, Adam, wonderful.
00:47 But there's a bigger question.
00:49 A bigger conversation needs to be had.
00:50 Time is yours.
00:52 - Yeah, look, Skeens this year,
00:54 I continued at the beginning of the year.
00:56 I said, "Look, think of him in season-long Roto Leagues
00:58 as the Strasburg debut, right?"
01:00 You had about 70 amazing innings for Strasburg
01:02 and you'll take them this year.
01:04 But you'll take them in that context
01:06 of a season-long Roto League.
01:07 If you're in a head-to-head format in a redraft league
01:09 and you have Skeens, when he gets called up,
01:12 his value will be at its peak.
01:14 And you have to understand, he's gonna be managed.
01:15 I mean, he's being managed right now very carefully,
01:18 which we could talk about that for days,
01:20 whether that's a good thing or not.
01:22 65 pitches in his last start, 37 were strikes,
01:25 34 of them, by the way, were over a hundred miles an hour.
01:29 So that is a stunning number.
01:32 And you look at the numbers so far,
01:33 he hasn't given up an earned run all year or a run.
01:37 The whip is at 0.71.
01:39 Over 12 innings, he has 27 strikeouts.
01:41 He is dominating.
01:42 There is obviously nothing for him to prove
01:44 at the AAA level.
01:44 So he's gonna be up in Pittsburgh
01:46 for a certain amount of time, but for how long?
01:47 So if you're in head-to-head leagues
01:49 and he's being limited as great as he is,
01:51 what's it gonna look like in August and September?
01:53 What's it gonna look like in your fantasy playoffs?
01:54 Those are questions you have to ask yourself.
01:56 And if you can flip a Skeens
01:58 for a mid to upper tier 1A kind of pitcher,
02:02 you should think about that in redraft leagues,
02:04 because those guys might be there in September,
02:06 Skeens will not.
