00:02 - Wow, I've never been in a room
00:04 where someone has a weirder laugh than me.
00:06 - Welcome to WatchMojo.
00:08 And today we're counting down our picks
00:10 for the top 10 times Seth Rogen was awesome.
00:13 - We started Hilarity for Charity.
00:15 Hilarity for Charity is a fund we have
00:17 as a part of the Alzheimer's Association
00:19 to raise money to help families struggling with Alzheimer's
00:22 and support cutting edge research.
00:24 Mr. Sandberg, thanks for coming to your performance review.
00:26 - No problem.
00:27 - So you're in charge around here, is that fair to say?
00:29 - Absolutely, I'm the boss.
00:31 - Thank you for your words.
00:32 - I didn't even look at you.
00:33 - He's alive, Seth Rogen is alive.
00:36 - For this list, we're looking at some
00:37 of our favorite Seth Rogen moments.
00:39 Be they funny, heartfelt, or just downright crazy.
00:43 We won't, however, be including any of his film roles
00:46 because let's be honest, those need their own list.
00:49 What's your favorite Seth Rogen moment?
00:51 Tell us in the comments below.
00:52 Number 10, hosted SNL for the first time at 25.
00:58 In 2007, this talented young comedian did something
01:01 that many stars only dream of.
01:03 He got to join Saturday Night Live as the evening's host.
01:06 - Hi, I'm Seth Rogen, I'm hosting Saturday Night Live
01:08 this week with musical guest Spoon.
01:09 - And he did it at the tender age of just 25 years old.
01:13 After starting strong with his opening monologue,
01:15 written when he was just 13 years old,
01:17 Rogen appeared in a number of solid sketches.
01:20 These included Rolf and the Swedish Chef
01:22 and History Channel Presents America's First Colonists,
01:25 John Stone.
01:26 - Ever since you planted that cursed crop,
01:28 every day has been wasted.
01:29 We need to prepare for the winter.
01:31 We need to plan for the future.
01:33 - We are planning for the future.
01:35 We have a three-day music festival this weekend, guys.
01:38 - Rogen even got to contribute
01:39 to Will Forte's recurring "MacGruber" series.
01:42 This was just the first of three hosting appearances
01:44 to date, plus a cameo in 2011.
01:47 And on all occasions, Rogen has done his part and delivered.
01:51 - I'm trying to make it better!
01:54 - How, Pat?
01:55 - We switched brands three weeks ago!
01:58 - Number nine, Seth Rogen.
02:00 CIA agent?
02:02 So back in 2017, a few years after Seth Rogen
02:06 starred in the interview,
02:07 rumors began circulating online
02:09 suggesting he was part of an elaborate conspiracy.
02:12 - Security concerns dictate
02:13 that the matter be discussed in person.
02:15 - Uh, okay, great.
02:16 Where, where do you do that?
02:18 - Honestly, if you're looking for a covert agent
02:20 that no one would suspect, you could do a lot worse.
02:23 Rogen has many talents, but a major player in a coup
02:27 does not seem to fit the description.
02:29 The plot apparently involved Sony, Obama, the CIA,
02:33 and Seth Rogen, and was designed
02:35 to instigate a regime change in North Korea.
02:37 The moment that this larger-than-life claim
02:40 began making the rounds, Rogen immediately got on board,
02:43 making fun of the whole situation.
02:45 He then promptly, quote, "quit the CIA."
02:48 Seems legit.
02:49 Number eight, pandemic pottery.
02:51 When COVID-19 brought the world to a screeching halt,
02:55 many of us had to get creative to stay busy.
02:57 Some people got into bread making.
02:59 - For some reason, baking bread has become a big thing.
03:03 Flour has been flying off the shelves
03:05 and is being kneaded into dough
03:06 by novice bakers across the country.
03:08 - Others bought every puzzle they could find
03:10 or frantically tried to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch.
03:14 Seeing how celebrities coped, however,
03:16 was one of the silver linings of the pandemic.
03:19 It was just so charming to see a typically busy creator
03:22 such as Seth Rogen really sink his teeth
03:24 into something totally out of his wheelhouse like pottery.
03:27 And wouldn't you know it,
03:28 it turns out he's actually quite good with his hands.
03:31 Rogen described his new hobby as meditative
03:34 and that he appreciated working on something tangible.
03:37 As for social media, people could not get enough of it.
03:40 Number seven, his first book.
03:43 It turns out that pottery wasn't the only thing
03:45 keeping Seth Rogen busy during the pandemic, however.
03:48 In spring of 2021, the actor and comedian
03:51 released his very first book and audio book,
03:54 an autobiography entitled Yearbook.
03:56 - There are just a few of the ways
03:58 you could know Seth Rogen
03:59 and now he's giving you a different way to get to know him,
04:01 which is through Yearbook,
04:02 a collection of essays about his life.
04:05 - While it might seem like every successful actor,
04:07 comedian or filmmaker gets a book deal these days,
04:10 Yearbook genuinely seems to be a cut above the rest.
04:13 - One of the most encouraging messages
04:15 I've been getting a lot of on social media
04:17 in the last few days
04:18 since the book has come out is a lot of people saying like,
04:19 this is the first book I've read in 10 years.
04:22 And like, that is honestly like kind of the audience
04:25 I was going for.
04:26 - It was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
04:29 Now, is this a particularly funny autobiography?
04:33 Yes, yes it is.
04:34 In fact, one reviewer for the Toronto Sun wrote, quote,
04:37 "I was kicked out of my own apartment for laughing too much."
04:40 But the stories that Rogen shares
04:42 also tend to be surprisingly insightful
04:44 and sometimes downright moving.
04:46 - And again, I think in order
04:47 for something to be entertaining,
04:48 it has to tick more boxes than just, is this funny?
04:51 I think it has to be relatable.
04:53 It has to feel honest and it has to at least feel like it,
04:58 you know, is trying to provide some insight.
05:01 - Number six, his annual photo with a fan.
05:04 When you're as instantly recognizable
05:06 of a celebrity as Seth Rogen,
05:08 you get asked to take a lot of pictures with fans.
05:10 - And they asked to take a picture with me.
05:12 They're maybe like 16, 17 and-
05:14 - Fans.
05:15 - Fans, very nice fans.
05:16 Clearly fans of mine.
05:17 - It probably gets pretty tiring.
05:19 Based on the sheer number of fan photos with Seth Rogen
05:23 that are out there though,
05:24 it seems that he's generally a good sport about it,
05:27 with a few exceptions.
05:29 - And he said, "Can I have a picture with you?"
05:33 And I look over and his kids are standing right there,
05:37 expectantly, clearly fans of mine.
05:39 And I said, "No way, man."
05:42 - One fan, however, has actually managed to establish
05:45 something of a tradition with Rogen,
05:46 which sees them pose for an annual photo together
05:49 at Hilarity for Charity.
05:51 After the first year, the fan, Ted,
05:53 has been bringing a photo of them from the previous years
05:56 so that they've got this nesting pictures
05:58 within a picture effect going on.
05:59 From the look on his face, Rogen clearly enjoys the gag.
06:04 Number five, Beyonce's bodyguard.
06:06 Just because you're a celebrity in your own right
06:09 doesn't mean that you're immune
06:10 to being treated like a fan.
06:12 This is something that Seth Rogen hilariously learned
06:14 the hard way when he saw Queen B with Gwyneth Paltrow
06:18 at the Grammys and couldn't help but run over to say hi.
06:20 - Last time I did try to approach her
06:22 was at the Grammys around 11 years ago
06:24 and her security knocked me so hard.
06:27 - Oh, really?
06:27 - That I spilled my drink all over myself.
06:29 - As he told E! News when recounting the story,
06:32 quote, "Instinct took over."
06:34 Well, unfortunately for him,
06:36 Beyonce's bodyguard can say the same thing
06:38 about the incident.
06:39 And he blocked Rogen's path so effectively
06:42 that the comedian spilled his drink on himself.
06:45 - I spilled that drink all over myself.
06:48 - Are you kidding?
06:49 Don't.
06:50 - That is literally the next thing that happened.
06:52 - Worst of all, he was up next to present an award.
06:55 Of course, this is Seth Rogen,
06:57 so he managed to take an awkward interaction
07:00 and make it into a great story.
07:02 - So I was wary of going near her
07:04 'cause I look like someone who you would wanna keep away
07:06 from Beyonce in general.
07:09 - Number four, hijacking a stranger's Tinder.
07:13 As part of the promotion
07:14 for his raunchy adult animated comedy, "Sausage Party,"
07:17 Seth Rogen did a Tinder takeover.
07:19 Unlike more conventional takeovers
07:21 like Twitter or Instagram,
07:23 Seth Rogen took over the individual Tinder profile
07:26 of a woman named Sheena, who works at Vanity Fair.
07:29 - I'm gonna help Sheena find true love
07:31 by taking over her Tinder account on her actual phone
07:34 and hopefully make it a love connection.
07:37 - Rogen does not hold back, quickly firing from the hip
07:41 as he attempts to find Sheena a match.
07:43 Rogen is quick to judge,
07:45 but hey, Sheena matched with that hot doctor,
07:47 so he clearly knows a thing or two about connections.
07:50 - Whoa, handsome doctor, yeah.
07:53 It's a match!
07:55 - Yes.
07:57 - He doesn't stop at swiping though.
07:59 No, he jumps right into messaging with the matches
08:02 and throws them some curve balls.
08:04 He even winds up on a call with Sheena's mom.
08:07 It's just a wild ride from start to finish.
08:10 - This is Seth.
08:11 I'm filming a video with your daughter,
08:14 who's single and I'm trying to help her find some romance.
08:18 - Number three, lack of balls.
08:21 The men that make up "The Lonely Island"
08:23 don't need any help being funny,
08:24 but throwing Seth Rogen into the mix certainly does not hurt.
08:28 Andy Samberg is the star of the show
08:29 in this hilarious music video.
08:31 - Okay, so take us through a day in the life of the boss.
08:34 - He uses his performance review
08:35 to brag about the many colorful ways
08:38 in which he works like a boss.
08:39 Seth Rogen plays the straight man
08:41 to Samberg's maniac of a boss,
08:43 and he is pitch perfect in the role.
08:46 - So that's an average day for you then?
08:48 - No doubt.
08:49 - He's got all the questions and facial expressions
08:52 to keep this absurd story going.
08:54 While Rogen is the featured cameo,
08:56 we've also got to acknowledge
08:57 the many familiar faces that appear,
08:59 including Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader,
09:02 Jason Sudeikis, and John Mulaney.
09:04 - I'm the boss.
09:05 - Yeah, I know, I got that.
09:06 You said that 400 times.
09:08 - I'm the boss.
09:09 - Number two, fried chicken with Snoop Dogg,
09:11 Wiz Khalifa, and Martha Stewart.
09:13 For many, just meeting any of these people
09:16 would be an absolute treat.
09:17 Some of us would gladly just settle
09:19 for some homemade fried chicken if it were being offered.
09:21 But in 2016, something truly magical happened.
09:25 - Let's get our thing popping now.
09:27 - Let's do it.
09:27 - All of these elements were brought together
09:29 on the inaugural episode
09:31 of Martha and Snoop's potluck dinner party
09:33 to deliver just about the best content
09:35 anyone could ever ask for.
09:37 And Seth Rogen was the cherry on top.
09:39 - Now watch this.
09:40 - What?
09:41 - We won this (beep) already, yo.
09:43 - Playing off the energy of the hosts
09:44 and his fellow guest, Wiz Khalifa,
09:46 Seth Rogen delivers his trademark laughs and stoner humor,
09:50 while also just seeming genuinely thrilled to be there.
09:53 When Martha starts talking
09:54 about having killed a chicken before,
09:56 Rogen does not miss a beat.
09:58 - I fed it some vodka,
09:59 and then I cut off its head.
10:02 - Oh, Martha, come on, man.
10:06 - If Martha starts giving you vodka, look out.
10:08 - Before we unveil our top pick,
10:10 here are some honorable mentions.
10:12 Bound 3, an unforgettable parody
10:15 of Kanye West's Bound 2 music video.
10:18 - Leave a pretty girl's sad reputation.
10:21 - Death Rogen, Seth Rogen gets to experience reactions
10:24 to his own fake death.
10:26 - Sorry, Seth Rogen passed away, any thoughts?
10:30 - Seth Rogen, Seth Rogen doesn't ring a bell.
10:33 - Tweeting Donald Trump Jr.,
10:35 using his popularity on social media
10:37 to tweet a suggestion at the first son.
10:40 Denouncing white nationalism
10:41 and a case of mistaken identity.

11:07 As Funny People co-star Bo Burnham asked
11:09 in his 2021 Netflix special,
11:11 ♪ Should I be joking at a time like this ♪
11:14 Seth Rogen seems to believe that the answer is yes.

11:24 Founded by Seth and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen,
11:27 HFC uses comedy to raise money for Alzheimer's research
11:31 and provide support to families affected by the disease.
11:34 In his work with the organization,
11:36 Rogen was even able to testify before Congress
11:39 about the importance of research into Alzheimer's.
11:41 - And it's because of this lack of hope
11:43 and shameful stigma that my wife,
11:45 some friends and myself decided to actually try
11:47 and do something to change the situation.
