Compassion fatigue is a relatively new concept in the world of psychology, it's often referred to as the 'cost of caring', but it's estimated a huge proportion of workers in care giving roles are experiencing it. After being surrounded by it in Victoria police, the lead detective on one of the state's most high profile fatal crash investigations has spoken about the effect it has had on him and his colleagues.
