00:03 In Venezuela, the National Assembly
00:10 approved the first discussion of the bill against fascism,
00:12 neo-fascism, and similar expressions.
00:14 In Palestine, the genocidal siege of Gaza
00:20 continues, authorities raised five new massacres
00:22 by occupation troops in Gaza in the last 24 hours.
00:29 And in China, the death toll after a powerful earthquake
00:31 in the Taiwan region rose to nine,
00:33 although these report over 820 injured.
00:36 Hello, welcome from the south.
00:44 I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Delezio Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:48 We begin with the news.
00:49 In Venezuela's National Assembly past day,
00:52 in the first instance, the draft bill titled
00:53 Law Against Fascism, Neo-fascism,
00:56 and Similar Expressions.
00:58 Our correspondent in Caracas, Glais Quezada, has the details.
01:00 To combat discrimination in all its ways and expressions
01:06 is the objective of the new draft bill passed
01:10 by Venezuela's National Assembly and presented
01:13 by the executive vice president, Delcy Rodriguez.
01:17 Under the title Law Against Fascism, Neo-fascism,
01:22 and Similar Expressions, with four chapters and 30 articles,
01:26 it condemns discrimination and violence
01:29 based on gender, origin, race, or political affiliation,
01:33 even in social media.
01:35 The goal of this law is establishment
01:44 some mechanisms to preserve peaceful coexistence
01:47 while it comes.
01:49 The democratic exercise of the people's will,
01:52 the recognition of diversity, tolerance,
01:55 and reciprocal respect against expressions of fascist,
01:58 neo-fascist, or similar nature that
02:01 may arise in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic
02:04 of Venezuela.
02:05 Presenting the bill, the lawmakers
02:13 recalled the violent outbursts in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
02:21 It also observes the serious consequences
02:24 for the country's economy, sovereignty,
02:27 and territorial integrity enacted
02:29 by extremist groups in the Venezuelan Parliament in 2015
02:34 to strip Venezuela of its resources,
02:37 as well as the new magnicide and terrorist attempts ahead
02:40 of the July 28 presidential elections.
02:43 And this is more valid today than ever,
02:51 because if not long ago, they dared to burn people alive
02:54 because of their skin color and the color of the flannel they
02:57 were wearing to slit the throats of motorcyclists.
03:01 They climbed up the criminal ladder,
03:03 and then they dared to ask for invasions of Venezuela.
03:06 They climbed up the criminal ladder,
03:08 and still today, they dare to ask for more sanctions
03:11 for Venezuela.
03:13 [SPEAKING SPANISH]
03:14 That there be a national debate to be discussed,
03:28 that we receive the contributions,
03:31 that it be enriched, and that the most severe penalties
03:34 that we can apply be applied to those who practice or have
03:37 in this ideology.
03:39 Because letting it grow, letting it grow, and doing it to us
03:42 leads us to the situation we are in right now.
03:45 It leads us to the situation we are in right now, impunity.
03:49 After a first instance approval, the bill
03:59 now goes to the Internal Politics Commission
04:02 and afterwards to the public for debate.
04:05 This is a step towards defending those
04:08 who have been systematically oppressed and marginalized
04:12 in the social spectrum, enacting ways for making
04:15 a more fair Venezuela.
04:17 Gladys Quezada, Telesur, Caracas, Venezuela.
04:20 Moving on to other news, in Argentina,
04:25 social and political organizations
04:27 paid tribute to the veterans and martyrs of the Malvinas Island
04:29 War and urged to strengthen the struggle
04:31 to recover that territory.
04:33 During an event in the cenotaph of Pilar municipality,
04:37 Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof
04:39 pointed out that sovereignty is not just an April 2nd speech.
04:43 It's not just carrying symbols.
04:45 The governor asked the Argentine people
04:47 to bring the question to more current struggles
04:48 while rejecting the interference of a foreign power
04:51 on the Argentine sea.
04:52 At the same time, President Javier Mele was contradictory
04:55 in his speech, as he expressed his sympathy
04:57 for the British Empire and then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
05:04 I believe that sovereignty is not just a speech on April 2nd.
05:12 It is not sovereignty.
05:13 It is not only carrying the national symbols
05:15 or singing the anthem.
05:17 Sovereignty must be exercised and updated every day.
05:21 Of course, remembering the Malvinas' heroic actions,
05:28 of course, paying homage to the former soldiers and veterans
05:31 of the Malvinas, of course, claiming
05:33 our sovereignty over the Malvinas
05:40 in an unwavering way with courage
05:42 and paying the international costs that we have to pay,
05:45 repudiating its usurpers, and of course,
05:49 also taking the issue of national sovereignty
05:51 to more current struggles and discussions.
05:53 Meanwhile, President Javier Mele also
05:58 commemorated the fallen soldiers of the Malvinas War
06:01 and recalled their Argentine claim on the territory.
06:04 [SPEAKING SPANISH]
06:07 Today, we are gathered here 42 years
06:10 after the beginning of the war in the Malvinas Island
06:12 to commemorate and pay tribute to our heroes, the fallen
06:16 in combat and their families.
06:18 The best tribute to those who gave their lives
06:20 for our country is to defend the unwavering claim
06:24 for Argentina's sovereignty over the Malvinas,
06:26 South Georgia, and the South Sandwich
06:28 Islands and the surrounding maritime spaces.
06:31 This is a real and sincere claim,
06:33 not mere words in international forums
06:35 with an impact on reality and that only
06:37 served the politician of the day to fake
06:40 a false love for the country.
06:43 The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel López Obrador,
06:46 lamented the assassination of Bertha Gisela
06:48 Gaitán, candidate for mayor of Selaya,
06:51 for the official party, Morena.
06:57 It is a sad day because yesterday,
07:03 the candidate for municipal president of Selaya,
07:06 Guanajuato, Bertha Gisela Gaitán, was murdered.
07:19 And these events are very regrettable
07:23 because there are people who are fighting to assert democracy,
07:34 perhaps in the streets, showing their faces,
07:38 fighting for others.
07:40 And it hurts a lot that this happens
07:43 in our country and anywhere else.
07:53 The tragedy was confirmed by Alma Alcaraz, candidate
07:56 for the governorship of Guanajuato,
07:58 who explained that Gaitán had been shot by armed subjects who
08:01 fled after the murder.
08:02 Videos were disseminated through social media
08:05 where the candidate can be seen walking
08:07 the streets of the community moments
08:09 before her assassination.
08:11 The candidate, Alma Alcaraz, temporarily
08:13 suspended her campaign for the June election,
08:15 stating that they are in a state that has failed the people.
08:17 The deputy director general of the U.S. Department
08:26 of Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Johanna Tablada,
08:29 assured the news report on the alleged sonic attacks
08:32 against the United States is a political operation.
08:35 During an interview with the U.S. News Agency Associated
08:37 Press, Tablada said that the so-called "Havana syndrome"
08:40 does not exist, is not included in the deceased's registry,
08:43 and has truly been the "Washington syndrome"
08:45 since the beginning.
08:46 According to the official, the recent report
08:49 by CBS, which is a powerful news channel in the United States,
08:52 is untenable and unexplainable.
08:54 It is represented not as a journalistic investigation
08:57 but as a political operation and as a propaganda operation.
09:00 The report excludes that there is no evidence
09:02 that the reported symptoms could have
09:04 been caused by external actions.
09:05 And Cuba is interested because the interview tries
09:14 to present Cuba once again as a threat to the U.S.
09:17 national security.
09:18 Even if Cuba is not suggested as the alleged main perpetrator,
09:23 the Cuban government is presented
09:25 as the place that lends itself to foreign powers and countries
09:28 to carry out acts against the United States.
09:33 In this context, Cuban neuroscientist Michel Valdez
09:36 also assured the alleged journalistic investigation
09:39 lacks from serious elements regarding the so-called "Havana
09:41 syndrome."
09:43 [SPEAKING SPANISH]
09:44 I think that this alleged journalistic investigation does
09:48 not provide serious elements, especially
09:52 that there is a new illness caused by a weapon
09:54 with a mysterious energy, and also
09:58 that the diplomats who were in Cuba were also attacked.

10:49 Palestinian authorities reported
10:50 in the last 24 hours the Israeli occupation troops
10:53 committed five massacres in the Gaza Strip.
10:55 Health sources stated that 59 people were killed
10:58 and 83 were injured.
10:59 The majority of the victims are women, elderly, and children.
11:03 During the early morning on Wednesday,
11:04 Israeli bombing on houses in the city of Hanjounis
11:07 took the lives of five citizens, while another three died
11:09 in Deir al-Walaa.
11:11 Since the beginning of the genocide on October 7,
11:13 Israel has killed 32,975 Palestinians
11:16 and injured more than 75,000, while thousands of bodies
11:20 remain under the debris of the devastated Gaza Strip.
11:23 The international community condemns the Israeli attack
11:31 that killed seven foreign aid workers delivering food
11:33 in Deir al-Walaa in the Gaza Strip.
11:35 Palestinian authorities indicated the attack took place
11:38 as the volunteers were moving in a presumably secure area
11:41 in two armored vehicles.
11:42 Meanwhile, the United Nations highlighted
11:45 that the killing of the workers was
11:47 an inevitable outcome of the Israeli siege of the Gaza
11:49 Strip.
11:50 In this context, the United Kingdom government
11:52 is also demanding protection for the humanitarian workers,
11:55 as well as an explanation from Israel.
11:57 The World Health Organization denounced
12:04 that a destruction caused by Israel against the Al-Jifa
12:07 Hospital damaged the health system in Gaza.
12:10 The WHO stated that the Israeli siege against the health center
12:12 has led to the closure of what it considered
12:15 to be the heart of medical care in the Gaza Strip.
12:18 The organization detailed that after more than two weeks
12:20 of the Israeli attack against the health center,
12:22 the directors of the hospital assured
12:24 that Al-Jifa could not provide any type of medical services.
12:27 The WHO also denounced that since the escalation
12:29 of the Israeli offensive against Gaza on October 7,
12:32 hundreds of health workers have died
12:34 while carrying out their job.
12:41 From the UN Security Council, Russia
12:42 called on the international community
12:44 to condemn the recent Israeli airstrikes
12:46 against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which
12:48 violates Syria's sovereignty.
12:50 Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Neventsia
12:52 insisted that all members of the international community
12:55 should give an objective legal assessment of Israel's
12:57 aggression in Syria.
12:59 Israel ignored not only the provisions
13:01 of the Charter of the United Nations
13:02 and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council
13:04 and the General Assembly, but also
13:06 the fundamental principles of the Vienna Convention
13:09 on Diplomatic and Consular Relations.
13:11 Likewise, the ambassador assured that attacks
13:13 on diplomatic institutions are unacceptable,
13:15 and if not condemned, airstrikes can
13:17 reach the diplomatic mission of any state next time.
13:20 In Yemen, US and British forces carried out
13:29 a new wave of attacks in the Taif region
13:31 in the west of the country.
13:33 These actions aimed to deter Houthi forces
13:35 in their support of the Palestinian cause.
13:37 Meanwhile, Houthi forces spokesman, Brigadier General
13:40 Yahya Sari, confirmed six successful military operations
13:43 with missiles and drones in the Red Sea.
13:45 In turn, a specific action was carried out
13:47 against two US destroyers in the maritime zone.
13:50 Sari also stressed that Houthi's actions will continue
13:52 until a ceasefire is achieved and the end of the siege
13:55 against Gaza proclaimed.

15:32 that more than 87,000 homes were left
15:34 without electrical supply due to the impact of the quake.
15:37 In turn, the earthquake caused the collapse
15:39 of several sections of road
15:40 and the blockage of the Tsu Hua Highway,
15:43 as well as the cancellation of trains to Hualien.
15:46 Local seismologists warn of possible new earthquakes
15:49 of magnitudes between 6.5 and 7
15:51 in the next three or four days.

16:07 The head of state stressed that Moscow

16:11 of the brutal crime, but will also look for all those
16:14 who indirectly took part in the incident.
16:16 The Russian president further detailed
16:18 that the performance of all supervisory
16:19 and control services responsible for the Krakow City
16:22 is being thoroughly evaluated.
16:24 Meanwhile, the Russian investigative committee
16:26 confirmed the arrest of a suspect

16:31 proving a Ukrainian connection to the perpetrators.
16:34 Nigerian President Bolotnikova's administration
16:42 has decided to sell three aircraft
16:44 from the presidential air fleet
16:46 as part of cost-cutting measures in the country.
16:49 The nation, citing an unnamed government source,
16:51 notes that the president ordered to reduce the fleet,
16:54 comprising six aircraft and four helicopters,
16:56 due to concerns over rising maintenance costs.
16:59 Africa's most populous country has been plagued
17:01 by food insecurity and economic hardship since mid-2023,
17:05 following the removal of fuel subsidies
17:06 and a sweeping reform of the national currency exchange rate
17:09 by Tinubu, who took office last May.
17:12 In July, the president declared a state of emergency
17:14 as a result of food shortages and rising prices.
17:17 The United Nations reported on Tuesday
17:27 that about 14 million Sudanese children
17:29 are in urgent need of aid.
17:31 The United Nations Fund for Children, UNICEF, in Sudan,
17:35 warned that the crisis of child displacement in the country
