Earthquake In Taiwan: Massive Quake Of 7.4 Magnitude Damages Buildings, Causes A Tsunami

On April 3, a powerful earthquake hit Taiwan. The massive earthquake prompted tsunami warnings for the self-ruled island as well as parts of southern Japan. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake had a magnitude of 7.4, with its epicentre 18 kilometres (11 miles) south of Taiwan's Hualien City at a depth of 34.8 km. As per Japan's Meteorological Agency, the magnitude was 7.5. Several buildings collapsed due to the massive earthquake. Taiwan is frequently hit by earthquakes as the island lies near the junction of two tectonic plates, reported PTI. Watch the video to know more.
