Households across England have seen a surge in essential bills from April 1st.
Council tax bills for an average Band D property rise by on average 5 per cent to £2,171, according to statistics from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities. Water bills are also on the rise, with the average household facing a 6 per cent increase to £473 a year.
Broadband bills jump by 7.9 per cent, drawing criticism from consumer groups. Additionally, the annual TV licence fee will escalate to £169.50, and road tax is set to increase by at least £10 a year.
However, there is some relief as Ofgem lowers the energy price cap, offering a decrease of £238 over the course of a year for the average household.
