It was designed to provide a circuit breaker to ongoing anti-social behaviour in Alice Springs, but 3 days in a youth curfew in the town is creating problems of its own. There's been a series of violent overnight crimes in suburbs outside of the restricted area, one involving a firearm. Authorities say the extreme measures are having an impact, but concede the approach is a short-term fix to broader problems.
