Alpha Wolf RWD could eventually hit the market alongside other EVs
Alpha modified the truck's skateboard chassis to accept a large battery pack.
For those unaware, Alpha has been around for about four years, and during that time it has unveiled a number of visually striking EV concepts, mostly through renders, that it aims to bring to market. These concepts include the Alpha Ace Coupe, the rugged Jax coupe for off-road enthusiasts, the Wolf pickup truck and both the Saga sedan and Saga Estate. The latest addition is an entry-level variant of the Wolf.
Like many other Alpha Engine projects, this turntable is currently only available in the virtual world. But since the truck was first introduced, Alpha says Wolf has widened the skateboard chassis, allowing it to fit a larger battery pack. Little is known about this package, but it is expected to give the EV a range of 350 miles (563 km).
The base Wolf also features a simplified interior, showcasing a single infotainment screen alongside conventional gauges. Alpha also claims that the Wolf has improved its steel structure and that this base model will be upgraded with new wheels with 31-inch tires.
The rendered model featured in this video exudes serious retro vibes, especially with its whitewall tires, evoking memories of Japanese pickup trucks from the late 1970s and early 1980s, such as the 1980 Toyota Hilux.
Interestingly, the Alpha does not use Tesla's NACS charging port, unlike almost every other automaker producing electric vehicles for North America. Instead, it has a CCS port and will support DC fast charging. Alpha says the battery can charge up to 80% in 30-60 minutes; This figure probably varies depending on battery size.
No matter how interesting Wolf looks with its entry-level and off-road-oriented appearance, it is too early to say whether Wolf or another Alpha product will go into production. Building a single EV model requires an extraordinary amount of money, let alone building the six of the seven models Alpha hopes to make. If this Wolf base is built, its price could start at $36,000.
