Chick-fil-A Reverses Antibiotic-Free Chicken Commitment, Citing Supply Concerns
  • 28 days ago
Chick-fil-A announced that it would allow some antibiotics in its chicken, overturning its 2014 commitment to use only antibiotic-free chicken. The company said maintaining a supply of high-quality chicken that meets its standards became a concern. Antibiotics will only be used "if the animal and those around it were to become sick" and are meant to treat poultry, not humans. All antibiotics must clear the chicken's system before it can be sold. Chick-fil-A's 2014 pledge was only to sell chicken raised without antibiotics across stores within five years, which it achieved by 2019 by serving 100% antibiotic-free chicken.
