Daniel Munoz capitalized on a sensational winding run from Liverpool forward Luis Diaz to score a stunning goal and seal a 1-0 victory for Colombia in their friendly against Spain on Friday.

It was a historic win for Colombia, who earned their first-ever victory against the 2010 World Cup winners at the London Stadium.

It took 61 minutes for the South American side to break the deadlock, with Diaz producing a superb piece of footwork to evade one defender before clipping the ball over to the right side of the penalty area for his team-mate.

Munoz arrived at the box at just the right moment, leaping into the air to hammer the ball into the back of the net, sending fans inside the London Stadium into delirium.

According to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the game was being played at West Ham's home ground as part of a new sponsorship arrangement with events agency Stage Front, with Luis de la Fuente's side now set to take on Brazil at the Bernabeu on Tuesday as part of the deal.

But it was not the result he would have been looking for, with La Roja succumbing to their first defeat in eight matches.

Despite dominating much of the first half, Spain struggled to make good their chances, having only three shots on target out of 11 attempts.

Dani Vivian had the chance to give them the lead in the first half, rising to meet a cross from Alex Grimaldo but couldn't keep his header on target.

As fans began to grow frustrated at the pace of the game, the stadium eventually erupted on the hour mark, with Diaz providing a moment of magic to tee his team-mate up for the wonder strike. Colombian supporters behind the goal celebrated wildly after their side took the lead.

It was a huge victory for Nestor Lorenzo's side, who have now remarkably not lost a game since they were beaten 1-0 by Argentina at the Qatar World Cup - with their unbeaten streak currently standing at 20 matches.

For Spain, it compounds what has been a difficult week after police raided the RFEF headquarters in Madrid amid a corruption investigation.

Colombia will now take on Romania in Madrid on Tuesday before traveling to face USA in Maryland, as they prepare for the 2024 Copa America.
