New Lancia Ypsilon Has 100 HP Hybrid Powertrain.

Ypsilon Hybrid costs thousands less than EV and is now available for order

The Lancia Ypsilon range is expanding as the company introduces a new hybrid variant. It will be sold alongside the EV introduced earlier this year.

The automaker didn't go into too much detail but said the model has a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, a six-speed e-DCT automatic transmission and a 48V mild hybrid system. This setup allows the car to produce a relatively modest output of 99 hp (74 kW / 100 PS).

Given that low number, it's no surprise to learn that the hybrid accelerates from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.3 seconds. The model will eventually reach a top speed of 190 km/h, but the premium B-segment hatchback focuses on efficiency rather than speed.

The fuel consumption value of the model is 4.6 L/100 km. Lancia said the hatchback can be driven short distances on electricity alone, as e-Crawling and e-Tailing functions are available. The company claims it offers the best of both worlds, as its powertrain offers both versatility and "respect for the environment."

Like the EV, the hybrid is being launched in the guise of the Edizione Limitata Cassina. As a result, the model has a familiar blue exterior with LED lighting units and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Although the company does not mention styling changes, the hybrid has additional air intakes as well as a visible exhaust.

The interior appears untouched, and drivers will find heated front seats upholstered in blue velvet. These are accompanied by a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a matching 10.25-inch SALA infotainment system. The model also has a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving system, as well as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and a blind spot monitoring system.

Pricing in Italy starts at €28,000, significantly lower than the €40,000 Lancia is asking for the EV Cassina launch version. The hybrid option is now available to order, but it won't last long as Lancia will switch to electric-only vehicles in 2028. All new models launched from 2026 will be electric only.
