Roy Keane brutally ignored Manchester United's mascot ahead of the FA Cup tie against Liverpool.

Keane was on punditry duty for ITV for the quarter-final showdown alongside Liverpool legend Graeme Souness and ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright, with Mark Pougatch presenting.

The former midfielder was approached by Fred the Red during a break and was offered a high-five but remained entirely motionless.

After being ignored, the mascot changed tack and instead went in front of a hug which was again unreciprocated by the Irishman as Souness smirked next to the pair.

Fred the Red was then seen placing an arm on Keane's shoulder.

ITV's social media account saw the funny side of Keane's famously no-nonsense persona.

The broadcaster wrote on X, formerly Twitter, 'No high fives from Keano, even if you are Fred the Red.'

Keane and the ITV punditry team were treated to a famous FA Cup quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.

Man United had led early through Scott McTominay but fell behind after quick-fire goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mo Salah before half-time.

Keane was vocal in his criticism of Man United's defending for the two Liverpool goals.

The hosts equalized through Antony to force extra-time, with Marcus Rashford leveling again after Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool's lead.

Man United earned a stunning late victory through Amad Diallo, with the youngster shown a second yellow card amid the celebrations.

The Red Devils will now face Coventry in the semi-finals, with Man City and Chelsea meeting in the other last-four tie.

Keane has claimed victory over arch-rivals Liverpool could be 'huge' for the club's season.
