Chubb CEO Defends $91.6 Million Appeal Bond for Trump in Defamation Case
  • last month
Chubb CEO Evan Greenberg defended providing former President Donald Trump with a $91.6 million appeal bond in the defamation case where Trump was liable for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll. Greenberg said providing the appeal bond has nothing to do with the case's merits and that Chubb does not take sides. If Trump loses his appeal, Carroll can demand the $91.6 million payment from Chubb. Greenberg said Chubb protected itself by requiring full collateralization of the bond. If called, it would take the collateral to make itself whole.
