Tainan's King Boat Parade Rounds Up Malicious Spirits for Burning
  • 2 months ago
A temple in southern Taiwan is gearing up to celebrate the King Boat Festival, with residents bearing an eight-meter paper boat through the city that will be set alight in April. The festival began with early settlers from China who would burn plague demon effigies on boats of paper and grass in a ritual that was thought to expel disease.
