Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Bristol according to a local mayor - on the day an anti knife crime campaign was launched there.

West of England Mayor Dan Norris has offered his sympathies to families after ''another fatal stabbing'' in the city.

Police are at the scene of a serious incident in the St Agnes area and a cordon has been in place since 9.30pm on Tuesday.

Officers have not confirmed a stabbing but in a press statement today Norris says ''the killing needs to stop'.
