Nationwide Prescription Access Disrupted as Cyberattack Hits Change Healthcare

A cyberattack on health technology provider Change Healthcare, owned by UnitedHealth Group, was first discovered on February 21st. The attack impacts prescription access nationwide as hospitals and pharmacies cannot get paid. Many patients cannot get their prescriptions filled due to rejected insurance claims. Change Healthcare processes 15 billion transactions annually, affecting 1 in 3 US patient records. A Russian-speaking ransomware group claimed responsibility and said they stole over 6 terabytes of data.
