Leeds Fan Falls from the Top Tier at Stamford Bridge Celebrating the Opening Goal in FA Cup Tie
  • 2 months ago
There was on Wednesday concern for a Leeds fan who is thought to have fallen from the top tier at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.

Leeds traveled to the capital to take on Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with the Blues set to take on Leicester in the quarter-finals in what could have been an all-Championship affair after winning 3-2.

It was, at least temporarily, heading that way, with Mateo Joseph giving Daniel Farke's side the lead after just eight minutes following a string of defensive errors from the Blues.

Medical personnel were rushed to the scene quickly and took the supporters to a nearby hospital after removing them from the ground.

The game was not halted, but images showed around a dozen medical staff, stewards, and police surrounding the incident.

Fans could be seen watching on with concerned looks before many applauded as the person was taken out of the ground.

The scenes in general were chaotic, with a stern rivalry forming between the two sides over 50 years ago.

The celebrations were short-lived, however, with Nicolas Jackson slotting in an equalizer just over seven minutes later to get the hosts back on track.

The match was the Blues' first since their Carabao Cup final defeat by Liverpool on Sunday, and they initially showed signs of a hangover until Jackson slotted past Illan Meslier 15 minutes in.

Chelsea controlled the majority of proceedings from there on in and took the lead after 37 minutes when Mykhailo Mudryk netted for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Joseph scored again to make it 2-2, but Conor Gallagher scored minutes from time to send the Premier League side into the next round.
