Love and Lobsters 1916 | He Did and He Didn't | Le cauchemar de Fatty | Colorized Version

In this lively tale, Roscoe Arbuckle and Mabel Normand portray a blissful couple residing in an opulent mansion, with Roscoe assuming the role of a physician. The plot takes an interesting turn when Mabel's old school friend, William Jefferson, pays her a visit. Despite their innocent reminiscing, Roscoe misinterprets the situation, succumbing to a whirlwind of rage and jealousy. However, Mabel remains indifferent to his feelings. The narrative becomes increasingly complex as crooks weave their schemes, culminating in a fake emergency call for Roscoe's medical expertise.

Responding to the urgent summons, Roscoe rushes to a supposedly dying patient in a nearby town, only to discover it's a vacant house. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, a series of events unfolds. Mabel, unaware of Roscoe's misadventure, retreats to bed and encounters Al St. John, a burglar, hiding underneath. Her startled cries attract Jefferson to the scene, prompting the burglar to make a swift escape through a window.

Upon Roscoe's return, he finds Jefferson attempting to revive the fainting Mabel. Overwhelmed by fury, Roscoe engages in a series of physical confrontations, knocking Jefferson down repeatedly. In the ensuing chaos, Mabel, who has regained consciousness, faces Roscoe's wrath, resulting in a troubling altercation where he leaves her unconscious. However, Mabel awakens suddenly, armed with a gun and a fiery determination. She pursues Roscoe to the stairs, where he tumbles and somersaults halfway down before landing with a resounding thud.

In a surprising twist of compassion, Mabel takes pity on the fallen Roscoe. The animosities are set aside as they reconcile, embracing happiness once more in the midst of their eventful and tumultuous evening.
