Updated Version of Popular SUV, New Hyundai CRETA SUV 2024

Hyundai has announced the updated version of Creta in the Indian market. The company also introduced a powertrain lineup that has been enriched with the addition of a more powerful turbocharged gasoline engine.

The second-generation Creta has been around since 2019 and its design language is starting to feel a bit dated compared to the newer members of the Hyundai lineup. For 2024, the SUV has a more boxy stance and a serious face. New full-width LEDs join the larger grille, the subunits of the split headlights are smaller, and the hood is longer and flatter than before. Additionally, LED taillights mirror those at the front, and both bumpers feature aluminum-style skid plates.

Hyundai released a single photo of the interior showing the revamped dashboard. Predictably, the Creta adopts a unified layout for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, which is common to almost all Hyundai models. We can also see extended air vents and revised climate controls on the center console. Finally, safety equipment has been improved with more ADAS.

The 2024 Hyundai Creta will offer three non-electric powertrain options. The same 1.5-liter MPi gasoline and 1.5-liter CRDi diesel engines producing 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) will be carried over from the previous model. However, a new and more powerful turbocharged 1.5-liter Kappa T-GDi gasoline engine producing 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) will also be added. Depending on the powertrain, transmission options include a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, CVT or seven-speed DCT automatic.

It is unclear whether the mentioned updates will be reflected in the Creta models sold in China, Brazil and Mexico in the future. As for the Indonesian-made Creta launching in 2022, it will most likely retain its unique Tucson-inspired look.
