Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, and Potential Flooding as Atmospheric River Storm Hits Southern California

A powerful atmospheric river storm is hitting parts of Southern California, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding. On Sunday, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency across 8 counties in anticipation of the storm. Downtown LA set a new single-day rainfall record on Sunday with over 4 inches of rain. As of early Monday, over 560,000 homes were without power due to downed lines and outages across several counties. Flash flood warnings remain in effect for LA and Ventura counties through Monday morning.
