Kalvin Phillips has got off to a nightmare West Ham United debut after giving away a goal with his first touch against Bournemouth.

Phillips made his first start in the Premier League since May 2023 following his loan move from Manchester City.

But he has made a horrendous start to life at West Ham as he gifted Dominic Solanke the opening goal within the first three minutes of the game.

Kurt Zouma played a pass into the England international, who was immediately closed down.

The ball then landed to Solanke who finished tidily inside the box.

goal.

One X user joked: "An assist with his first touch for Kalvin Phillips. An electric start to his West Ham career!"

A second tweeted: "Kalvin Phillips ALREADY stinking it up."

A third added: "Kalvin Phillips on for a Jonathan Woodgate-esque debut here. Already given away a goal."

A fourth wrote: "Only took 2mins off his debut for Kalvin Phillips to be shocking."

Another commented: "Oh mate you’ve gotta feel sorry for Kalvin Phillips."

Phillips has played just 10 games in all competitions this season, having featured in 12 league games last season following his £45 million transfer from Leeds United.

He'll be hoping to rediscover his form at West Ham, who have no option to buy the player on a permanent deal.
