Hungary's Orban Approves Ukraine Aid with Assurance of "Sensible Use of Money"; EU and Zelensky Commend Unity
  • 3 months ago
EU leaders successfully obtained the support of Hungarian PM Viktor Orban for a 50 billion euros ($55 billion) financial aid package to Ukraine, bringing an end to a prolonged deadlock. Orban, who previously vetoed the aid package in December 2023 during Ukraine's conflict with Russia, now approves with the condition of ensuring the "sensible" use of the funds. He emphasized that the money should not inadvertently benefit Hungary. Orban has consistently opposed or diluted EU decisions related to Ukraine, including sanctions against Russia. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky commended the unanimous decision by all 27 leaders, highlighting the display of strong EU unity. For more details, watch the video.
