Three-year-old girl and her mum 'could be left with life-changing injuries following corrosive attack'
A woman living on the road where a mother and her two children were doused in a corrosive substance told how anxious friends had contacted her, fearing she and her family were the victims.
The mother, who lives on Lessar Avenue in Clapham, south London, but asked not to be named, said: “I’ve had lots of sweet messages from concerned friends as it says on the news it was a mother and two daughters, and I have two girls.”
She continued: “The thing is, it could have been us. We could have been walking down the road.
“It’s very unsettling when it happens so close to home.
“But I guess these freak things can happen anywhere.”
The woman, who has lived in Clapham for two years, said she was home at the time of the incident but did not see it unfold.
“We saw police cars whizzing by, and we were obviously concerned about what was happening,” she said.
“I know some of my neighbours couldn’t get home because of things being cordoned off."
She added: “I just hope the mother and her children, and the neighbours brave enough to come out and help, are all okay.”

00:00 I was looking up from there, then I saw the hit.
00:03 She was in the middle of the street, the car was parked in the middle of the street.
00:07 He hit her, then he tried to carry on like ramming into her, but people started coming out.
00:12 So he kind of like panicked a bit.
00:13 So he reversed just a tad bit, then the little kid started hitting the door.
00:18 From the outside of the car?
00:19 Yeah, from the outside of the car.
00:20 Then he came out, when the kid went back to the mum, he came out, took the little child and smashed the child on the floor.
00:27 That's all I saw.
00:28 And then he ran out?
00:29 Then he ran out, yeah, because people tried to chase him, but no one could catch him.
00:32 Where did this acid come from?
00:34 I didn't see the acid, I genuinely thought it was pepper spray.
00:37 I didn't know it was acid until people started saying it was acid.
00:39 I was like, what is acid?
00:40 Because the woman didn't look like she was hit with acid, she was screaming like, my eyes, my eyes, I thought it was pepper spray.
00:45 I didn't know it was acid until later on I saw on the news it said acid attack.
00:49 I was like, what's acid?
00:50 Did you see hotel staff coming?
00:52 Yes, yes, the hotel staff came running down.
00:56 They splashed the woman with water because I think even they thought it was pepper spray.
01:02 So they started hitting the woman with water, trying to help the baby.
01:05 They took her to that hotel over there, then I didn't see all of them after.
01:09 I think the police came and took them away to the hospital.
01:11 But after that I didn't see anything.
