Biden to Announce Semiconductor Chip Grants, Boosting Domestic Production
  • 3 months ago
The US aims to announce major semiconductor chip grants by the end of March to speed up plans under the 2022 CHIPS Act. The grants are expected to go to Intel, TSMC, and Samsung, and help fund new US fabrication facilities. Intel has said the grants will determine the pace of its expansion plans, including a $20 billion Ohio megafactory. The funding is meant to counter Asia's concentration of chip production and bring thousands of manufacturing jobs to the US. Companies have pledged over $230 billion for US plants conditional on government support.
