Leyton Orient Announce Signing of Fulham Youngster Ollie O'Neill with Hilarious Traitors-inspired

Leyton Orient announced their latest January signing in sensational style with a Traitors-inspired unveiling video on social media on Tuesday.

'The Traitors' - a BBC One reality show of trust and treachery - has gripped the nation over the past three weeks, and Orient used this to their advantage when confirming the arrival of Fulham youngster Ollie O'Neill.

The unveiling video began with this year's contestants sitting around the 'banishing table' all looking anxious. The banishment typically ends with host Claudia Winkleman asking the player voted out to reveal whether they are a 'faithful' or a 'traitor', but on this occasion, a dubbed voice asked the mystery footballer whether he was a new signing.

The tension ramped up as one by one it showed stars of the show Harry, Ross, Andrew, Jaz, and Zack nervously waiting for the final verdict, with the name 'Ollie' written on their small blackboards.

Finally, it cut to O'Neill's face as he declared 'I am a new signing!'

The contestants all jumped up at once, with some banging on the table to celebrate, with Orient cleverly using the clip from when they correctly banished Paul last week, who had been a 'Traitor' from the beginning of the show.

Zack can then be heard shouting 'We've got another one,' as on the show Paul was banished the day after the 'Faithfuls' got rid of fellow 'Traitor', Miles.

This phrase also works in the context of Orient's transfer business, with O'Neill becoming their second signing of the month after Brandon Cooper rejoined the club last week.

After confirming his arrival on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee, O'Neill told Orient's official website: 'I’m excited to be starting the next chapter of my career at Leyton Orient, a club that feels like it has got real momentum behind it at the moment.

'I know that this is the right time for me to leave the nest of academy football. I had a good taste of senior football last season and now I’m ready to challenge myself in League One. I like to play wide, get on the ball, and create lots of chances for myself and my teammates.'

O'Neill, 21, has represented Republic of Ireland from Under-16 to Under-21 level. He had been a regular in the Fulham youth teams for several seasons, but never made a senior appearance for the Premier League club.

Meanwhile, 'The Traitors' is due to conclude this Friday, with eight contestants currently still in the running to win the prize pot of up to £120,000.
